When I saw Bauhaus in NYC 1998 and Danny just finished Dark Entries by chucking the guitar back out at the front of the stage and just let it sit there feeding back on that final chord for a good 10 minutes, it was one of the greatest things ever.
@@windyhollow7869 Actually some of it may be on the Gotham DVD but I'm not sure anymore. I saw both shows in 1998 at Hammerstein and I'm sure he did similar bits both nights. All that lovely feedback! It did a body good LOL!
welcome. in my opinion, this is actually like Ash plays it, sliding on the E like you did, when in any other tab or tutorial they switch to A string to do the octave trick and that's wrong, E string has a more rich sound. That Tele souds great but how come you didn't play it on the Strat ? it's the axe he played live and on recording.
@idontcareaboutyou Are you sure Ash played this on a Strat? I’ve never seen him play a Strat before... He’s known for using Telecasters - so hence why I used mine to cover this. Cheers for watching!
Mitch, that sounds absolutely amazing !! Brilliant guitar - work !!! One of the very best cover I've ever heard : ) He is one of my guitar - Heroes too : ) Please listen to his " MOTORCYCLE " ! at the end of this song, Danny's guitar sounds like a very fast Motorcycle, so f...g good : )
What can I say Mitch? Another tremendous rendition of one of my faves from back in the day. Looking forward to checking out all of your other vids - I see that you’ve covered loads of terrific tunes that I’ve loved for years (decades now LOL). I’ve had your brilliant Romeo’s Distress cover blasting out in my car today. No disrespect to Christian Death, Mephisto or Faith at all but I actually prefer your version :)
Thank you! Yes, I agree. Bauhaus and Daniel Ash are criminally underrated. The Tele looks a bit different these days - I swapped the pick guard to black & added stickers.
Thank you SO much! That’s a meaningful complement. I actually am NOT using an amp in this video. I’m playing through Logic Pro X using an amp preset/modeler. The amp preset I used was a “Vintage British” Marshall-style head & cab.
This is so good! I'm very much a beginner guitar player and this is on my list to learn. Any tips on tones, etc? Found some tabs but right now I've been watching you play it. Such a great song and Ash is a favorite guitarist of mine.
Thanks! Go for heavy distortion. Maybe up the treble on your amp or amp sim some. Marshall amps/amp sims are good for this specific tone. Yes, Danny Ash is one of my favorite guitarists, too. Lucky me I got to see Bauhaus live in 2022 in Portland.
@@MitchQuintanathank you so much! I'll be trying your suggestions later tonight. I saw bauhaus in 2005 opening for NIN. Saw Poptone, also very good. As close to tones on tail as I'm likely to get in this lifetime. Thanks again!

@@MitchQuintana Also, definitely check out 'The Lucy Show' if you've never heard of them. Not quite post punk but contains elements of it. They had two albums in the 80s. Their first one, 'undone' is really good. has some awesome guitar work in it. It's probably up your alley.

@Krazy Konspiracy Thanks! I'm using the stock Fender Telecaster pickups. I'm specifically using the bridge pickup with the tone knob all the way to 10.
Sounds great! Which Tele is it exactly? I’m trying to choose the best (affordable) Tele for this kind of post punk, and I’m leaning toward the Mexican standard.
@arcanefrontier Thanks! I'm not exactly sure. The neck is actually a Stratocaster neck - and it's a early 90's Mexican-made neck. The body and pickups/hardware - I'm not sure where those were made. I'm assuming that they're Mexican also. I would definitely recommend a Mexican made Tele! Fender's Mexican stuff is great. My Strat on the wall behind me is also a early 90's Mexican made Fender. If you're on a budget - search Reverb.com for used Mexican Teles. You can find 'em cheap for like $300-$350 all day long.
@wavy Rendon Thanks! That’s it I think - just distortion and perhaps maybe a little reverb. If I recall correctly. It’s been a long time since recording this.
@wavy Rendon Woah there... Now you’ve confused me. Are those letters/numbers suppose to be chords? That doesn’t look like typical chord/tablature notation to me. I don’t know what part of the song you’re talking about, either...
@wavy Rendon During the bridge part I’m playing octaves. I can’t remember what the chords are (and I’m not near a guitar right now)... But an example is: D|---11-- A|---0--- E|---9---
