This actually works great for D&D Krakens. They historically undergo massive surgical changes throughout their lives in an attempt to improve upon their natural forms.
I agree. The retcon D&D did a while back stated that Krakens value themselves instead of treasure and will “artistically redesign” themselves (surgery &/or fleshcraft magic). It validated every depiction they’ve ever had in the books and opened the door for any depiction shown in films. So yeah, everything from default giant squid to crab legged, turtle shelled monstrosities is fair game! Your vid is an invitation for GMs to up the ante even further by adding biological, magical even psionic abilities!
@@TheUglyGoblin Yeah I've been diving a lot into Kraken week stuff sense once I finish writing the arc I'm writing now, I'm going to write a many part nautical arc somewhat centered around krakens so now krakens in my settings create horrible sea monsters
The traditional story of the Magic Fish, granting wishes to the fisherman who saved him. But each time the fisherman asks for a wish, the water gets bloodier and the "fish" gets bigger, and the fisherman's wife (eventually the Queen of the continent) gets more Warlock powers and crazier. ... But I like the hidden leviathan growing under the ship, feeding on the crew's nightmares (and blood), too. Probably more.
i love the addition of skill trees in d&d, the ideas for these abilities are cool and the inclusion of the safety and content checks in the document is much appreciated
You know I have to thank you goblin, this reminds me of a campaign I attempted to run a while ago with my younger siblings, it was a pirate adventure and this would be perfect if I decided to open up that campaign once more thank you!
I never thought I would need a video on leviathan evolution, but dang, this was fantastic! And it really inspired a lot of ideas! I was already planning a new campaign with the main enemy being this dragon-god and a lot of things you said really helped me decide where and how I'm going to add him throughout the adventure! I'm definitely going to steal the reality break ability and connect it to the dragon-god's roar. fantastic video! Thank you!
I've always wanted to make a way for Monsters, like the common Goblin, to become stronger as the Players gets stronger. I'll be using this to mutate the monsters in future campaigns.
Awesome. I love subnautica so this will be neat to throw at my players. Thanks a bunch funny goblin man. Long live kraken week. Im also planning on running the kraken themed pointy hat adventure for free so there’s an idea for y’all DMs or players
Thank you for this. My son and I were just discussing making stat blocks for Subnautica creatures in the name of the Kraken. This is an awesome take, we love it!
This would be great for a general mutation skill tree for players or monster. I could see using this for a kaiju campaign where players are or can control a big monster.
Bruhhhhh the intro to your video made me so nervous the thalassophobia that game causes is REAL. Also v. cool ideas, I definitely want to throw one of these at my players 😈 P.S. Your mom is ADORABLE 💕
Hahaha thank you so much xD she is very sweet :,3 And thank you so much for being a part of this video! Mmm I wasn't sure if I should have put a warning at the start or not :S And if you throw this at your players, I hope it goes well :3
You could ~quarter the bonuses of some of these powers (+5 AC, +5 Stealth, move enemy 10 feet, 1d10 acid attack with 10 foot reach, etc) and make them the class abilities for a new class. That way they'd still get to level up and not be overpowered. You'd have to figure out a good progression, though.
As usual, the skill trees are superb. They're easy to understand and satisfying to look at. Do you use a form of app or program to build them, or do you draw the skill trees yourself?
Me personally when I think of the ocean I think of being too Buoyant to leave the water surface because no matter how deep I try to dive I always End up kicking my legs around in the air whilst my head and everything else is below, underwater Trying desperately to gain the abyss And when I finally do go under fully I always end up wasting all of my energy trying to go down and end up floating back up to square one the only way I could fully dive is to blow out all of my air and basically suffocate just to submerge let alone stay underwater for more than a minute I envy though stupid fish and eldritch horrors Because they can swim under water so naturally I used to do it greatly when I was young and more slimmer!
And when I finally do get my dream come true. It's usually in a way I don't want like for example: when I'm actively trying to stay buoyant And above water because of something trying to get me or I'm trying to catch my breath. what I'm trying to say here in both the comment And this reply is that when I think of the ocean I think of not being able to swim when I want to and sinking when I don't want to sink Or in other words having no control over my buoyancy.
If you have a Ko-Fi or something, I'll give you $40 or so if you made a Skill Tree or two based on Demon Slayer that lets people make their own Breathing Style, and/or one that lets people become Demons and make their own Blood Demon Art. I just think that would be really fricking cool. And if I accidentally broke some internet rule I'm not aware of by saying/requesting this, please explain to me what I did wrong
Oooo I could look into this for sure! But what I do have in the coming skill tree are several abilities that let you infuse your weapons with elemental powers, as well as learning sword (and other weapon techniques). Not only that but you can also take up stances, use jutsus and even grapple moves :D
