The way I describe a dean Cadillac is that it’s a brutalist’s single cut. The explorer bits aren’t just there for style and metal credo. That’s there so that it sits better on your thigh.
That's what I hate about my singlecut. I sit a lot, and that one edge digs into my thigh and isn't very comfortable. I want one of these just for that reason.
I am the weirdo that has always loved these. Everyone hates on any dean with the v headstock. Especially the caddys. These are awesome guitars and all the hate they get just makes me love them, and dean as a whole even more. Who else has the absolute balls to continually make guitars that everyone calls ugly for over 3 decades. Dean as a company made a decision years ago and that was....fuck the critics. They were right, and their guitars are awesome.

love Dean! the ML in my mind is a top-half Z, bottom-half V, and this is like a top-half Explorer & bottom-half Les Paul. love Dean's designs, headstocks are the kings of headstocks imo!
Man this is the best demo track you’ve ever done in my opinion. The riffs are very memorable and the tone was just great. Made me pick up a guitar and try and learn the riffs. I really like the cadi, it’s unique for sure.
I love the Cadi’s - to me they are very comfortable to play while sitting. I love the way it rests on the leg very securely.. for some reason that non rounded “leg” just makes it stick to the leg. And that one you’re playing a sounds fantastic.
I have had one for eons. It's a 90s model with the quilted burst and I still love it. I got it as a gift from my bass player and played it for ten years. Awesome guitar.
Talking about tuning issues: I owned one of the older models once and never had any tuning issues, too. In retrospective, this is very strange, as a LP usually is impossible to keep in tune. As this is almost always referred to the spacings on the tuners, this specific guitar kind of debunks it. Crazy...
I love the Cadillac so much I can’t hide my love for it. Everyone in my pop punk band hates it and begs me not to buy one but shoutout to the government for giving me gear money

I fell in love at an instant, it has everything I love in a guitar, fat yet thin tone, and it looks badass, im now a dean fanboy and plan on getting a limited edition Dean Cadilac 🖤
I have the "Black Beauty" version with 3 pickups. Such a chunky guitar! It just feels super solid. I actually play it quite a lot alongside my Japanese ESP Eclipse. Both have their place in my lineup. Also, I'm a big Cannibal Corpse fan, so it was an obvious choice, since I also prefer singlecuts 🤘
The man known as ‘Dean’, originally devised that headstock to get more sustain; the really old Deans have even bigger winged headstocks. I’ve owned Caddys, & Dean Vs, but my favorite was a Splittail w/FR. If you can get 1 w/the slight v neck backside profile, it really does help with feet hand fatigue.
It surprised StayMetalRay as well. It’s unfortunate how awesome this guitar is. So much better than getting let down by an instrument though. God I hate that I love it so much.
I think the purpose of this is to find a good middle ground for metal players who usually play old-school Gibsons, which is absolutely nailing the preferences of some players like Rob Barrett of Cannibal Corpse who wanted to look meaner while still feeling familiar and comfortable on the instrument.
I've said it once, and I will say it again, yes Dean's looks massive and weird especially Cadillac, but they're still one of the most comfortable guitars to play. I remember when my Dean Eric Peterson V arrived, I opened the case and saw that massive headstock, I had the bigest smile ever. I truly love this guitars and I am glad that you started to give them some credit. Hope to see more Dean's in the future 😀
My wife bought me one of these for my birthday last year. The shape may throw a bunch of people off but it plays and sounds phenomenal. I am really impressed with the quality for an import.
Ive always been on the fence with that guitar, but after watching this video, this guitar shreds! Also BY FAR the SICKEST RIFFAGE ever played on this channel! Lol mad props Agufish! Yeah!!
I always loved Dean stuff (ML is and always will be one of my favorite guitars ever), so I do find the Cadi awesome af. Eric Peterson from Testament plays these along with Vs and Zs, and Glen Drover played them in Megadeth. Loved the riffs, Hunter! Could've used the whole gothic thing to play some Type O Negative-esque stuff hahahaha cheers, keep'em coming!
A few years' ago I had the chance to play one of these atrocities, an early nineties or late eighties US made model. Rob Barrett's Cadi-kill is hands down my favorite Dean! I just recently picked up the Dean in the video. I got it used at Mary's Music (Clarksville TN) for $599.
I never paid any attention to Dean Guitars until i saw Eric Peterson playing a Caddy on that Live in London Dvd, that Headstock left an impression! effin Sweet!
I own the Z Select (their Explorer shape) and I gotta say, I was pretty impressed. Got it as a B-stock for under $600. Really couldn't beat the price. I think the neck profile is their soft V shape, and is crazy comfortable. I also hate the bridge pickup...but I'm not sure what to replace it with. Invader, maybe? What would you pick?

I had 3 MAB1's, 2 Armor Flame and one Air Force. The reason I had 2 armor flames is Dean had to send me a brand new one since the factory jacked up the mounting of the Floyd Rose, and it seemed like it was across a large portion of the line as I see it more then half the time i see one (the high side is closer to the body then the low), if youre ADD in the slightest bit youll go mad. I like the fact that they put the valute back in. I guess the Select series is throwing back to the original Deans and I always liked the valutes on the back of the headstock. Also, I dig those big effing headstocks, and that one isn't as big as the OG ones lol, you can be at the back of the arena and know what the guitarist is playing. Of course that was the point of those things. Lots of people have played Dean guitars, not just the recent metal guys.
