The way I describe a dean Cadillac is that it’s a brutalist’s single cut. The explorer bits aren’t just there for style and metal credo. That’s there so that it sits better on your thigh.

I am the weirdo that has always loved these. Everyone hates on any dean with the v headstock. Especially the caddys. These are awesome guitars and all the hate they get just makes me love them, and dean as a whole even more. Who else has the absolute balls to continually make guitars that everyone calls ugly for over 3 decades. Dean as a company made a decision years ago and that was....fuck the critics. They were right, and their guitars are awesome.

Talking about tuning issues: I owned one of the older models once and never had any tuning issues, too. In retrospective, this is very strange, as a LP usually is impossible to keep in tune. As this is almost always referred to the spacings on the tuners, this specific guitar kind of debunks it. Crazy...

The man known as ‘Dean’, originally devised that headstock to get more sustain; the really old Deans have even bigger winged headstocks.
    I’ve owned Caddys, &
Dean Vs, but my favorite was a Splittail w/FR.
If you can get 1 w/the slight v neck backside profile, it really does help with feet hand fatigue.

After four or five minutes going through the usual warm up exercises I use to get a feel for a guitar I had to admit that a lot of thought went into this model and it balances and plays better than I expected it to. The reason I had 2 armor flames is Dean had to send me a brand new one since the factory jacked up the mounting of the Floyd Rose, and it seemed like it was across a large portion of the line as I see it more then half the time i see one (the high side is closer to the body then the low), if youre ADD in the slightest bit youll go mad. Other then that tho i really liked it. Unfortunately Mike has signed so many of then everyone thinks it worth more with his sig on it. I picked up the Air Force one for a joke, i think $330 mint. Also, I dig those big effing headstocks, and that one isn't as big as the OG ones lol, you can be at the back of the arena and know what the guitarist is playing. Of course that was the point of those things. Lots of people have played Dean guitars, not just the recent metal guys. Heart for a while, the Cars, ZZtop's furry guitars were Deans, hell there was even a pink ML in the video for Hurt So Good by John Cougar Meelancamp. They've been under the radar for many years, until Dime brought his to the stage.

I love my Cadi it has the flame maple top in natural. I love the shape it's insane, but not to the point of being painful. I am buying another one. I love it that much.

I am very seriously looking at this guitar. Xtreme lefty guitars has Cadis in green and purple with Floyds 1000 for about $1000 bucks. Really good value. Dean necks are awesome! I love my Dean V.

I love the Dean headstock, and to my surprise since my first Dean, I've never had issues with tuning either.

You gotta give credit for Dean for beeing this ballsy with just combining the explorer and a LP just as a fuck you for Gibson

Would love to try one of these out sometime - would definitely mod it a bit (locking tuners, maybe an Evertune) but it seems like a fun guitar for when you just gotta play butt rock

Again, I really appreciate seeing your writing process. Love your work ethic. You're not a fan of the Duncan Custom; do you like the Distortion? I find it too scooped and rough. Thanks for the vids.

I’ve always liked this shape since Glen drover used it in megadeth

Cool demo on a definitely “unique” looking guitar. But what I found a little confusing about your review of it was how you said you were never a fan of the Duncan Custom pickup because you find them “muffled and scooped”. I swapped out the stock pickup in my Charvel for a Custom and love it. I found it opposite of what you said. I find it has a big bottom end but it stayed very very tight. The mids aren’t scooped at all. I’ve actually found the Custom leans towards the high mids side. I guess it really depends on the guitar it’s installed in. But! I love your demo. I actually considered getting one before and now I still may.

Always liked the cadi shape. In my opinion, the best in Dean’s lineup.

You were right, on this one it sounds like there’s a blanket over the amp. Love the vid tho, as usual. Keep doing you. And Sevendust!

Elliot Easton and Ric Ocasek from “the cars” played deans. Ric plays the caddy in “The dangerous type “ video, all white. Awesome. 1979 I think 🤔.
