When I was flipping through that box in your studio I was just blown away, gem after gem. Would love to see a curation of the collection.

Polaroid photos are like trading cards for moments. You're collecting moments.

So beyond stoked for this book, I know the process you're in and it's a doozy, but you're unearthing some true gems.

I love to see those blue shifted 669 images. Some of my favorite Polaroids are those that remind you of the chemistry that makes them, and the stories behind that chemistry.

Hey Matt, really glad this video came out just now! I’ve been shooting Polaroid for a couple of years and have some really mixed results so haven’t done it much. But recently started being much more purposeful about it and have been absolutely loving it! I’ve also just shot my first pack of black and white Polaroid and that has blown me away - as you say, there is nothing better than a Polaroid coming out as good or better than you imagined! And when I organised all mine into a binder it was so satisfying to see all those little captured moments

Just happy to be the first one here. Couldn't agree more about organizing. I find I spend hours and hours just sorting picture files and film. What I've noticed over time is that my original system of organization changes between cameras, lenses or locations. What I end up with is a spaghetti filing system with many duplicates. The battle continues. Another great video Matt (as i'm still watching)

How cool is this, you got me fascinated about the sx-70 a year or so ago. I picked up a alpha I had refurbished a couple of months ago and I just got a photo book today 😊

I like to keep them in a box. Just like the film itself it's always a surprise when you take some photos out of the box. Looking forward to see more of your polaroids.

I feel as though I have as many polaroids and instax as you do and have been figuring out what to do with them. I have done a decent job scanning and putting them in photo albums but then I think "whats next?" thank you for the inspiration. I needed this video.

So I expected to click on this video and end up crying but I didn't, and I'm kind of glad. For me it's not polaroids, but slides from my father who passed just a few years ago. It's refreshing to hear you talk about sorting photos in the light of moving forward and developing projects. When I look at my slides, it overwhelms me with the burden of documentation. Where you are searching for projects and books based on subject or topics, I'm looking at documentation and archival of history. You are looking at themes, while I'm looking at historical accuracy when the subject matter expert is no longer with us. My project is a mystery that I have no hope of solving, while yours is an excercise of finding a story that others might find interesting. I have a mountain of slides that I haven't started to analyze yet because I've been paralyzed by the thought of how best to organize them. I hope I can find a way to take what you're doing and apply it to my slides and get the courage to ate least start working on something to document the images. Thanks.

I taped 4 polaroids to each side of some printer paper and used the space in between for more details on the photo. This is much cleaner and looks great 👌🏼

I’ve got a question: What’s going to give me the best quality lens/final image for a camera for 3:4 or some other rectangular aspect ratio similar to a digital frame? I love the quality of those Instax and the rectangular photos in portrait orientation I saw here in this video but am otherwise oblivious to the genre of film.

  • @parkermillican
    @parkermillican Рік тому

Have you used the instax square? Its the same aspect ratio as the polaroid 600

  • @norasanpo1145

Do you scan your instant film? I've been looking for a high quality and fast way to scan my Instax but have found reflection to be hard to get rid of if I scan with a digital camera.
(Edit: Not looking for flatbed suggestions, I've tried it and don't like the process with flatbed unfortunately)

@Nora Sanpo put em in foam cutouts. Again, this is a very well documented topic on UA-cam and other forums. Scanning is a time-consuming process regardless, so there's no way around that fact.

I assume these "not well aged" pictures are film material from the Impossible Project and what later became of that?
In my experience, pictures taken with Polaroid's original materials (what they produced with their original processes and chemicals before stopping everything in 2008) are aging pretty well.
