As a Jakartan who been living here in Jakarta for a very long time imma tell you a little secret that'll prolly shock you a little bit. There's this belief here that the foreigners who be hanging out too often around Blok M area are the 'poor bule'. Locals would automatically side eye foreigners, especially Caucasian, because as you know, everything is pretty cheap there. I know it's obviously not true and wealth is subjective. It's just some of Jakartans' ignorance, I guess. I personally don't think that way but I'm just spilling the tea. Recommendation: - In case you're planning to visit Jakarta again, the places for street food lover that won't make locals look down to you: Sabang area, Kemang area, Menteng area, Kuningan area, and Tebet area. - in case you're planning to visit PIK 2 again, some of my fave foods: 1. Bakso urat-rusuk @ Bakso Solo Samrat, Ruko San Antonio area (meatballs and ribs) 2. Ayam Bakar bumbu asam-manis @ 8 spices, Ruko San Antonio area (grilled chicken with local seasoning) 3. Luberger, Ruko San Antonio area (beef burger, western influenced local food) 4. Linguine Aglio Lio @ PIK Avenue (spaghetti, not so local but delish af) 5. Bakso campur-daging @ Bakso Aan, Ruko Elang Laut (meatballs and sliced beef, Chinese influenced) 6. Konro Bakar @ Food Street PIK 2 (ribs grilled on burning charcoal) Have a great day.

Great guide for everyone who is new to jakarta! Happy that travel guides for this city are showing up We can relate so much to your travel experience :D
You miss: - Senayan park, it's a new place actually, close to SCBD - Perpustakaan Nasional (National Library), adjacent to Monas (south side). Go up to the upper floors (14 or 17 I forget), but it's history/ regional literature , go to the balcony and you can see Merdeka square. Really beautiful. - all kinds of museum, the closest to Monas (west side) is National Museum also known as Museum Gajah. There are also museums around Kota Tua. - Thamrin 10, close to Monas and the library. honestly I've never been there since pandemic so I don't know if it still open. It's basically open food court. If you go in the evening - night, there usually a live music. Food are good and you can try different cuisine from different parts of Indonesia. Again, this is my experience before pandemic. - free tourism bus is available on certain route. There's a sign for it around Monas, Kota Tua, Thamrin. Some routes will take you to places that very few foreigners ever visit. - Near Kota Tua, there's an old Chinatown called Petak 9. Just search Petak 9 market or Petak 9 Glodok. - there's also Jakarta Walking Tour (also offered in English) and you decide how much you want to pay your guide. Anyway, enjoy Jakarta and there's more to Indonesia than just Bali and Jakarta...
_10:01_ *Good day Susan! Next time you visit Jakarta, we recommend you to drop by the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. It's a kinda theme park that displays all of the ethnic groups throughout Indo and their traditional houses.* *You'll love it!* 🤩👍 Keep up the good vlogs Susan! 👊😎
Good tips I have been to Jakarta twice on 2 day stopovers to Bali and Lombok. I did see Merdeka Square where the monument, Masjid Istiqlal and Cathedral is located, also walked around the main skyscrapers area, went to Ancol Beach, Regatta, and did a day trip to Thousand Islands too
In Jakarta we also have Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a place where you can see and know all of Indonesian culture. So it's kind of like visiting all provinces in Indonesia in a short time. But currently in that place many arenas are damaged and the Indonesian government is going to repair it on a large scale. I also recommend you to try the Asinan Betawi when you come to Jakarta again. Also in Jakarta we have the best lemperrrr.
this is the specialty of GIS, which made me fall in love with this channel. content like this really gives good recommendations and tells everyone in the world who wants to visit places in Indonesia. even though GIS is not from Indonesia, they want to share it well in their videos. I really appreciate and thank you. ❤️GIS
Really love the way you describe cool places at jakarta. You should go to Bandung & Jogjakarta someday...its more authentic of javanese cultural (Sundanese for Bandung and Javanese fro Jogjakarta). Cheers from Capricornus, too✌✌✌
