Just came here after the news announcing his retirement. Absolutely gutted but thankful for everything SJ’s done for the Warriors and New Zealand. UP THE WAHS
The best attacking player that NZ has ever produced, possibly the best that rugby league has ever seen. In his prime, he was unstoppable. Yet he was blamed for the warriors failures when he literally carried the team for years.
Shaun johnson is and was the king of side steps; his flair, fluidity, deception, field awareness, speed, quickness, and explosiveness were all combined into one. He could step 4 men within a whole line of defense just as was seen against the aussies in 2014 in his prime.
And yet that's not the best of him. Many other tries & broad camera angles show his true greatness. Even some of the tries here were too cropped in on camera.
Iv never seen any footy player lose their speed in such a short amount of time. I’m guessing he put on a bit more weight to make his defensive more effective. Plus the broken leg didn’t help. Still my favourite player to watch. Him and cullen
As a long time warrior and sj fan I still love him and was guttered when he got let go but tbh it was better for him and hope he wins a premiership in the future
underrated... he ran down G.I a Jennings (one of the quickest in the NRL @ that time) and a full stride tupou thanks for the g highlights S.J your the man wait there is more an tedesco at the end as welll😯
5:47 tedesco has come out on record saying he lost all confidence in himself and speed after johnson did this to him. Took him a few years to recover and find himself which has made him the amazing player he is today!
Johnson did that to a number of known speedsters before he had that major leg injury..his acceleration was plain off the charts fast.Good to see him come home back to the warriors for 2022.
What a great video to represent New Zealand's Greatest Half Back. The individual talents are surely on display here. Shaun Johnson should had been poached by an Aussie team many years ago, especially due to how the New Zealand public were mistreating the man. Kiwis couldn't see past the multiple losses the warriors had accumulated, he ultimately was to blame. Among all his individual accomplishments he also made team mates look like they were also on top of there game when they may had been in a cold spot throughout any given season. A player that can elevate the team must have a great height to fall. So he made the move to the sharks had an average 1st season but surely showed his talents there after. Can't wait for NRL2021.
Look at all that wasted talent in those early Warriors teams ruined by poor coaching and management. Laumape in particular was someone the Warriors should have never let go.
Alfie Langer, Matty Johns , Stacey Jones & Bengi Marshall were the Most exciting halves to Watch in my Opinion Untill Shaun Johnson Stepped onto the Scene ...Truly is God sent for the WARRIORS 🕊 Amen 🕊
Breaking his leg and ankle ended his career mentally and physically will be remembered for his talent especially coming from behind and saving certain tries being scored list blistering pace
Doesn't help that it's a Aussie comp and refs always historically give the warriors some tough calls either he's a definite legend of the game and has led the kiwis to some amazing victory's over the Aussie god squad

UP THE WAHS
He’ll be back
Most underrated player in NRL history. If he'd played his career at the Roosters or any other Sydney-based team he'd have 5 Dally Ms.
He still has a golden boot for the bestplayer in the world so its good enuff
Nah calm down lol
I love SJ but I'd put Stacy Jones in that spot instead.
Same goes with Manu Vatuvei tbh. Criminally underrated
@@Altered-Beastnah SJ different breed.
Benji marshall

@J G in nz no one gives a fk bout soccer

💯
Still carrying us, straight to the semis
He is the most dangerous ball running 7 ever the man can do things that no one else can do really miss this Shaun Johnson
Might not run it as much as he used to but he is back for sure
Best broken field runner EVER in the NRL. Kiwi treasure! 🤙🏼🔥✊🏼

absolutely agree. once he broke free no-one could stop him. ballet in boots. a true pleasure to watch.
Foreshore... and that top end speed also made him a great cover defender, despite playing scrum half
Still my favourite player of all time to watch… imagine if he spent his whole career at a big reputable club!!
Who’s here after he announced retirement 😢

Thank u sj.. Electrifying when u came on to the scene... Will always be a fan.. Good luck at the sharks.

Hamstring injury is letting him down but I think he's the best player Ive ever witnessed
one of the very very best EVER!!! So great to watch, and wastreated badly by the Warriors but now they know his value!!
I come back to this regularly. He’s a showman, exciting & unexpected when he touches the ball. Sad day when he retires. Legendary
Very sad day today mate
@@T1_zer0 agreed mate!!!
Didn't play his best this season

The crazy thing is he's still got a bit of pace
Cullen also lost his speed 😞
Starting to get his confidence back. After those nasty injuries, he lost all confidence. Keen to see him carve up again!
This season hes at his peak after the injury, glad to seem him back at it
I'm in awe from 3:25 for the next 3 plays. This super athlete is just sublime!
SJ has the best highlight reel ever!
As great as his step and speed are, I think his passing game is just as good.the way he makes space for others is superb
We need one more of these for his Retirement at the end of the season please
That touch footy awareness... Magic
one of the most best steps i have ever seen in my life
THE best
Benji Marshall has the best step of all time.

That ankle injury ruined his career he still hasnt got the confidence back since unfortunately him and Kevin Locke were outstanding on there day
That break took his blistering pace away
MUFC I doubt that soccer will take over rugby in Nz Aus or sth Africa
Look a bit silly now 2020 was one of his best seasons
Same thing with Stacey. Was never the same after a broken arm
@MUFC Yeah .... Nah (That’s Aussie fo No)
Love SJ so much!!!! Inspiring player, and regardless of what happened at the warriors still my favourite player.

SJ had that touch player acceleration, only person to catch him at full flight really trying to get away was korobeti
One of the Morris boys mowed him down once I remember vs bulldogs

There's very few NRL players in history who could have mowed down the mighty Greg Inglis with that sort of head start. That's true pace

This is the talent we are hoping to see for the Sharks. At his best he is a wizard.
The best in the past 10 years
He’s coming home ❤️
Shawn is my most favorite player and sunny
Speed and skill so good to watch, just a shame injuries hindered his career. Love how he leaves players clutching at air.
hes had his up n downs but when shauny is on hes on still in 2023!!!
Needed to watch this highlight reel after the boys lost his home game tonight… That left foot at 2:08 was sooo clean.
WOW, just wow. On his day, untouchable.
Probably the greatest footwork we will ever see!
One of the best 💯
3:28 wtf that noise
Huge gain for the sharks but also good on him too for making the best move so he can play without the pressures he had at the warriors!!
Was probably one of the only NRL players who could win any foot race with a 5-10 meter disadvantage.
4:38 watch Maloney try to slow Johnson down .. he knows first hand how fast he was and Johnson still caught up
Nice skills dam Shaun Johnson and the speed
Nobody beats SJ highlights. Good package to sell to new viewers.
I'm in tears over your retirement the greatest warrior ever they need to put a statue of him at Mt smart I salute you bro
Thank you SJ mr king stepper
No number 7 has a highlight reel like SJ . Simply electric player .
well good luck at the sharks SJ, like a lot of players that leave the Warriors and go on to greater players and sometimes win the GF
Sad to see he is retiring, his highlight reels will always be legendary ❤
Wicked video, thanks bro!

I totally agree, makes me sad that he's not at the warriors anymore
It's not a waste he's still gonna go down as a legend. And there is alot of luck involved with winning a premiership

1. Pour drinks
2. Play this video
3. Drink whenever you hear the word 'Johnson'
