Holy sh^t is what came to my mind when I first heard the AWE touring exhaust on my C7.. it's even better in person! I have the stock x-pipe.. I also went with the black tips.. looks fantastic and sounds just as good!!!! HIGHLY recommend AWE!!!!!
Thank you for this video. I've been wanting to make this mod to my 2018 Grand Sport, and finally acted, since AWE is discontinuing this catless x-pipe. The video took all the guess work out of the project, and with only 10k miles on mine, I thought I could reuse the gaskets, but once I got them on the new pipes, decided that a new pair was in order. You were right on that one too. She sounds fantastic now, especially in combination with the NPP fuse removed. Great video!
In an alternate universe, Carguy11 once again falls in love with his Stingray and (checks notes) cancels the Supra order... Great vid! That's a heck of a difference in sound! Have you compared the sound with the different drive modes, or does this eliminate that feature from operating? That thing sounds like a beast!, well done! Nice, easy, straight forward install as well :)
Haha no just reminds me why I’m keeping it! It only makes it louder when valves are open, still quite in stealth mode. Thanks man it’s perfect amount of sound for me & tons more crackles & pops now!
@@CarGuy11 I am considering this as well for my c7 w/ NPP, otherwise stock. I appreciate your review as contemplate pulling the trigger. Your car looks and sounds great
I want to mod mine so bad! I have a 2017 Grand Sport. The engine has had forged racing pistons put in, stage one cam, Lt4 supercharger, AFM delete system, Afe Momentum cold air intake, and had a stock exhaust! I'm keeping the back stock because I want the NPP valves but really want to add long tube headers, high flow cats with x-pipe, and I'll be putting a 2.3 pully on the supercharger in place of the 2.5. Should put me a little over 700 engine hp and around 600WHP. Just worried about the noise. I'm sure with the valves closed it should be fine.
What's up, Car Guy... I got that same exact Xpipe, but I also purchased a Kooks 2" Longtube Headers...I've been told that this set up WON'T WORK....I need answers, Bruh....Is this true. I got the AWE Xpipe and the AWE Touring Exhaust now I wanna add the Kooks Headers (That I just received) ... Bottom line WILL THIS WORK...??
Any plans on adding longtubes? I checked with AWE and they aren't planning on making their own. Ideally I'd like to go with the same manufacturer for piece of mind that everything it going to bolt up nice. I'd figure if I had to decide on their X pipe and complete exhaust OR spend the cash on their X pipe and long tube headers with the factory exhaust with the fuse pulled, the headers would yield more hp
The rear cats are welded to x-pipe so still would need to weld new pipes in. Already did the fuse removal (actually mild to wild). ua-cam.com/video/PYgidQ2Xke8/v-deo.html&t=
The center brace cover thing that you need to take off first before getting to the exhaust, when tightening the bolts, just tight is good right there is no specific torque to tighen those? and after installation to check leaks, just do what he did and put hands around the connections to? feel if any heat/exhaust is coming out? Thanks for the vid it was nicely made.
Honestly there probably is a torque setting for those bolts but I didn’t know it. You can feel & likely hear a leak when you are that close to it. Thanks glad it helped!
I have found a 3 inch High Flow Cat replacement pipe for the stock manifold down to the X Pipe. Was thinking that Down Pipe and an X pipe keeping the NPP mufflers. And ,maybe a pre Rear end Cutout so exits just before the tire for those days I just want to be ornery. What do you think?
Great video! Sounds awesome. 👍 Been trying to decide which Xpipe to put on my ‘17 GS. You just added another potential contender. Why did you choose the AWE over the others?
@@CarGuy11 Thanks for the video! I've seen Borla x-pipes on the internet for sale. A couple say "retain OE cats" while others don't mention it. I'm assuming the secondary cats come off with the original and are not replaced with the x-pipe. I'll admit to preferring the sound of the Borla, though not entirely married to the idea of that brand, but I, too, prefer them over the Corsa. Do you suppose the ones I"m seeing are left over stock? They're sold by a number of different outfits...not directly from Borla.
Marc Saegaert no your cats are not replaced by the borla you’ve been seeing you cut the pipe after the secondary cats and it attaches to the pipe after the cats. If you notice it does not have the bolt up application that this one has that bolts up to the exhaust manifold and replaces the secondary cats. I been looking at the same ones.
I live in e check county. U just self serve plug int obd2 sensor and it reads computer. I wonder if this would cause it to fail. I am guessing not because it didn’t throw any codes through check engine light
I am also contemplating between replacing the factory mufflers with aftermarket Corsa exhaust (muffler only) vs the x-pipe. What’s the reasoning why you chose the x-pipe over muffler install?
Sounds good I do have a question my C7 Chevy Corvette stingray LT one can only rev up to 4000 RPM it sounds like your Corvette is revving way over 4000 RPM how do I get my carvette to rev over 4000 RPM
I'm changing my rear end to the Touring Edition Axleback, Would I still be able to switch my engine modes from Sport to Touring or Will I lose that function.... Also, Can it be saved with a little welding to the new exhaust...??
@CarGuy11 ohh noon. You get to keep you quite npp valves. All ai did was do a Muffler delete, x pipe and had the show install the exhaust valve on both Muffler tips.. of course you need a Range ODB to keep the exhaust value in manual but that's only $189 and its plug and play.. I have done on mine and boy it's a good setup. Loud and mean as heck but quite enough when I leave at 3am .. All I do is before I start the car is select the exhaust valves open or closed from the screen menu then start the car. Easy peze.

Nice!
ever thought of adding x pipe to that awe touring exhaust?
I think I’m gonna combine long tubes with this x pipe and leave factory mufflers to keep dual mode
How does it sound? I just bought an xpipe and long tubes and plan to do the same
I don’t think it sounds much different
Wow, that’s cool of the mechanic to let you hang out and shoot this.
Yes I made sure he was ok with it before taking it there.

I’m pretty happy with the sound from Xpipe now but may consider long tubes in the future. I don’t want to loose the exhaust valves.
Sounds really good. I'm surprised it had to be flailed out to fit.
Thanks! Well it is a tight fit onto muffler pipe.
Cant find it on there website
Unfortunately they are no longer able to sell it thanks to the EPA.
Do you have any problem like engine light on with aftermarket x pipe on please give me ideas
No sir. These cats are not monitored.
Why didn't you just remove the two rear cats and then remove fuse #41 or 42 (depending on year), same effect, no?

Nope these aren’t monitored.
@@CarGuy11 perfect, cause last corvette C6 through all codes after aded that

I didn’t want to loose the dual mode exhaust flaps. Plus a little performance gain eliminating secondary cats.

Does it pass smog and inspection no problem?
Yes primary cats are still there and no CEL.
Awesome. Are you still able to utilize the mild to wild switch after removing stock exhaust
Yes since I kept the stock mufflers. Thanks!
yes, it fits to the stock mufflers which is before (front to back) the actuators which are located just before the exhaust tips.

Do the check engine light come on and do this void the warranty
No CEL & it shouldn’t affect warranty.
Why can’t you buy the aww x-pipe anymore? I just bought the same car you have but auto and wanted to get the best downpipe. Ugh
Thanks to the EPA 😕
Dam that actual woke it up a good amount.

CarGuy11 great video I subscribed my guy.
To be honest I couldn't tell much, if any, difference in the exhaust note.
Easier to hear it in person.
Can you add corsa exhaust system with stock xpipe??
I don’t see why not.
Thank you so much.
I recently purchased a c7 stingray. I want to install exhaust for my first modification.
Do you notice more pops and rumbles on down shift?
Absolutely! Unfortunately I didn’t capture that on video.
Does it tame down the same in stealth mode?
Yep very quiet still.
@@CarGuy11 thanks brother👍

Yes & it’s even covered by the aluminum brace so no issue.
The awe is 3 inch vs the 2.75 stick muffler pipes....how do you make sure it doesn’t leak?
They neck down to fit as shown in video.
Ahh cool awesome so no leaks then?! Just ordered one!

What’s the purpose of the secondary cats just too muffle the sound ?
Purpose is cleaner emissions but still have primary cats.
CarGuy11 I read no Check engine light came on... so it won’t trip the cars computer !? That’s incredible. Did you get a mild horsepower gain !?
Only the primary cats are monitored. Definitely adds a few hp.
