That's honestly amazing achievement, congratulations and thanks for the insight, this is amazing content. I still remember my first proper UA-cam 'paycheck', a lot of emotions and I was so proud of myself. If it wasn't for my consistency and hard work (and a little bit of Famester), I wouldn't have made anything.
This. YT are pushing people to Premium (ad free) - basically, Google create an artificial problem and then sell the solution for £££. Sucks that the creators don't get a cut of the ad revenue, I wonder if they still get the cut from Premium viewers...?
yeah, and its much worse on the TV apps. most ads are now 60 sec before you can skip, then when you skip they show you 1 more ad after the skip. also there are typically several 60 sec ad breaks per video.
@@uscgkenny Have you tried backing out of the video and then replaying it? Sometimes that makes the current ad break end in the app. Unfortunately, it often starts at the beginning of the video, too.
One of the things I’ve noticed on UA-cam at least is if I’m watching a lot of it, I get a lot more ads. If I take a break for a few days, It slowly increases the ad count probably in some way that follows a brain pattern.
What is amazing about this guy is that he is so good on the guitar and writes astounding songs that even if you give him a toy guitar, I guarantee you he will make it sound incredible!
Thank you for explaining your career by which I mean what you do and some of the income from it. That can probably help many to get a larger picture of what is needed to work with this full time.
i found you through waterworks and was instantly one of my favorites. you are so talented and how you play it shows you are a master at playing the guitar. wouldn't take back finding you back then ever.
You're one of the best creators out there😀 I still remember my first UA-cam 'paycheck'. I was so proud of myself. If it wasn't for my consistency (and a little bit of Famester of course), I probably wouldn't have made anything.
You're not just a great musician. You're a good content creator. And you do it all by yourself. Playing, recording, editing, managing, promoting, etc. And that is sick, you're an one man army. 🤯
This video led me to subscribe to your channel. And it is not because I want to earn money with UA-cam, but because the actual video was interesting. Now I will explore the rest "boring" guitar geek stuff. Keep rocking!
This is really helpful! I've been wondering if starting a UA-cam channel would be worth the effort. It's been hard to get a straight answer about how much to expect to make if the video does reasonably well.
The value of being on UA-cam has any ad revenue. It’s the ability to give a call to action to your product, like your course or a product you’re getting paid to promote. So I look it UA-cam as a way to build an audience, find out how you can serve them, and promote your product to them.
I'm happy you mentioned that it'd be more revenue if it were a long form video, because a lot of people are leaving that out when they're talking about shorts nowadays. Don't get me wrong, shorts revenue is bonkers low (I've made $208 on a short with 2 million views), but longer form is considerably better in the RPM department (although we'd all argue it should be higher... 😂).
Thanks, that's interesting. I wonder if you get something out of Tiktok and FB, as in what kind of rates they may have. I assume it's less than Adsense because UA-cam just blasts ads (I hear, have premium myself) whereas like one in five Tiktok vids is an ad.
Brother thank you thank you thank you very very very awesome much this video encouraged me to keep going and do thinks out of my bubble . God bless you ☝️🤟🏼🎸🔥❤️🎶👍💪✅🎧
Even though UA-cam might not be the most reliable source of income alone it still attracts a significant amount of people to supporting the other revenue streams which is great
Dude! I needed this video. Thank you so much. I was notified about this video just as I was working on my UA-cam plans/goals/content. Perfect timing. Thanks!
I think the high viewing time is based on the fact that you are an exceptional guitar player and know what you are talking about. The way you play guitar makes people want to know how to do this. What more does it take?
It seems to me that the UA-cam views probably are more important as advertising for the other revenue streams, than as a revenue stream itself. I think that's something that people overlook when they see that you make more money from Patreon, for example.. people have to know about you before they get to your Patreon.
someone did something and the following happened. But yea, if you have analytics setup right, now you got a real hotlist of each who were engaged for the full video that went viral. Like it had the production value, from your investment in skill, tools, and mind; but also "it just resonated". So that 2k feels like peanuts with all the effort you put into it, but i'm saying 20% of the mass that were engaged, could prolly buy that patreon of yours. And you have a pointer to their profile, if you had google analytics set up right. Prolly all over the world, prolly would buy tickets. I'd have free...
I believe Shorts USED to be literal pennies for millions of views, so I think this is probably a good change. I wonder what a video that’s about 2-3 mins long, length of a song, that goes viral, makes as far as revenue goes if it hits a similar milestone
The sound guys always looked at me funny when I said "all I want in my for monitor is kick and snare" never wanted to hear myself, I can hear the amp. Never used in-ears!
In the past, everyone had monitors in front of them so they could hear themselves, okay, some still do today. But these days most people use in-ear monitors to hear themselves. Normal people have no idea what it's like to stand on stage and not hear what you're playing because the speakers are radiating towards the listener.
My little brother wanted to do UA-cam but now he is into electronics. He is in secondary school and he has fixed computers for people already. He still records video and thinks he will make millions from UA-cam not realizing some youtubers were already rich before they started UA-cam or had jobs before youtube. What I think is he should do is stick to electronics. He can probably make way more money creating his own computer repair company
Google Ad Sense is the equivalent to working a job on commission. Like a car salesman can tell you if he doesn't sell any cars...hes eating noodles for a month.
I mean yes. But then again it would also feel a bit unfair if a regular video, that's like 10 to 20 times longer, would make the same kind of money as a short. I personally also don't get ads when watching shorts.
I am the one who watch it million times . Then I search Principessa song Now since last 30 days I am just playing same song again and again and the solo you played. Can you please make a video on how you create that sound for Principessa solo
Always keeping it FUNKY with the people that’s called GANSTA staking care of others to be able to evolve an not being someone who hides an don’t want others to be successful.. keep up good work ONE LOVE
Your passion in music and music business shows! I hope one day you consider getting a masters or a PhD and eventually become a professor or chair of a music department.
Now, I wonder more about how it feels to knowingly being ripped off and still keeping the motivation to keep going. It's clearly not about the money. My theory, the metrics is the real incentive for most. Until they're audited by an independent firm, they're probably completely fake.
Shorts, for the most part, was created to give you more exposure. It hardly pays you anything. Long form video is where it's at if you intend to make any kind of decent money off your content.
15,000,000. Pays 2,000. So 1$ per 7500 views when an ad pops up at the beginning and END of every video. And youtube makes probably 25,000 off the video
I clean pee out of carpet well it doesn’t actually all come out I play guitar at night and on the weekend and then I take lessons at guitar center on the weekend. I can only make money from carpet. My Guitar teachers hand shakes when he’s nervous and he can’t spell out chords. I’m thinking about getting a job there instead of lessons I gotta see how the next few weeks go I can’t find anyone besides UA-camrs who know how to teach electric guitar really well.
To really make sense of all this in business terms, I would need to know how many hours it took to gain your skill level on guitar. How many hours it took for you to master youtube enough to create that many views. Also how many 'tubers' get more than 10 million views from a single video. Well, I think I made my point. You invested huge amounts of time and effort into making $2000, so much, you probably couldn't even calculate it all. Like all the rest of the social media, UA-cam is making all the money!

YT has been placing WAY more ads the last 2-3 weeks; the added revenue is clearly NOT going to the people who earn it.
This. YT are pushing people to Premium (ad free) - basically, Google create an artificial problem and then sell the solution for £££. Sucks that the creators don't get a cut of the ad revenue, I wonder if they still get the cut from Premium viewers...?

I very much appreciate these kinds of videos - the truth about a career in music, these days.
Glad this is working for you! You are an amazing human! Keep it up!
Easily one of the best musicians on UA-cam. Nothing but respect brother!
You and Charles need to do a tour in the USA!
Real answers to important questions....
This is very honest.
Very helpful.
You care.
I hope someday you’ll come to Seattle here in the States. It would be awesome getting to see you play live! ❤️
This is a very interesting video. Things are sometimes not so clear about UA-camrs/Musicians and your view leaves no doubts. That's great, thank you 🎸
What is amazing about this guy is that he is so good on the guitar and writes astounding songs that even if you give him a toy guitar, I guarantee you he will make it sound incredible!
Thanks for making this video. Do you have a team helping you with all the stuff your doing?

I watch all your videos. One of the best on UA-cam! 😎👍🎸
You're one of the best creators out there😀 I still remember my first UA-cam 'paycheck'. I was so proud of myself. If it wasn't for my consistency (and a little bit of Famester of course), I probably wouldn't have made anything.
But you DON'T make anything. You have 200 subscribers and your post is just advertisement for a click farm.
Respect, hard and thoughtful worker!

Thank you a lot. That video really gave me a lot of information, which I am sure, will help me. I appreciate u sharing such things.
Really appreciate the transparency here. It really does help us independent artists with some realistic planning. Thank you! 🙏🤘😎
That video is actaully good music. i love it. i wanna listen to the whole song on the in ear mix

Fun info. Thank you for the insight!
Thank you sir for the transparency and helpful insight!
I always watch all your stuff to the end sometimes multiple times.
Thanks for the explanation, I have often wondered about the potential revenue potential.
Interesting video, thanks for sharing, just keep on making amazing music 👍

Wow man. Great info! Do you ever make it to the USA?
Seeing you with Ola would be incredible.
Looking forward to the Vienna concert!

Now can you show us some great guitar excercises for imptoving our viewership count tecnique?
sehr interessant, vielen Dank fürs teilen Bernth!
That Austrian akzent... Mir gefällt es einfach! 🤗
Love your vids man
Very cool. Thanks for sharing this info. 😎
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Great insights! Were there any particular strategies that helped you reach 15 million views? And how has your CPM varied across different videos?
Brother thank you thank you thank you very very very awesome much this video encouraged me to keep going and do thinks out of my bubble . God bless you ☝️🤟🏼🎸🔥❤️🎶👍💪✅🎧
Great video. Well explained, sir!! Thanks.
Greetings from Romania Bernth!!!
Thanks 4 sharing your insights

"super simple in ear mix" THIS is very smart!!!
You deserve every dollar you earn
How fast ur shredding on that fred like nothing difficult for u 😢. Grrrrrrrrr.
Wow great vid!
cool that you are touring with Charles Berthoud 🙂
Schweet! Nice breakdown. Also, SMITE!!
Great info.

When are you coming to canada 🇨🇦?
Thanks to a browser plugin, I am not able to see shorts. In my world vertical video is illegal.
I believe Shorts USED to be literal pennies for millions of views, so I think this is probably a good change. I wonder what a video that’s about 2-3 mins long, length of a song, that goes viral, makes as far as revenue goes if it hits a similar milestone
Don't forget about an American Tour🤘🏼
The video did well on the TikTok, curious, care to share how much it made over there?
The sound guys always looked at me funny when I said "all I want in my for monitor is kick and snare" never wanted to hear myself, I can hear the amp. Never used in-ears!
Really interesting video about another very interesting short video.
Definitely thought it'd be a higher number.... but it _is_ a short, so I suppose that makes sense. Not bad for 35 seconds.
In the past, everyone had monitors in front of them so they could hear themselves, okay, some still do today.
But these days most people use in-ear monitors to hear themselves.
Normal people have no idea what it's like to stand on stage and not hear what you're playing because the speakers are radiating towards the listener.

The revenue for shorts is an absolute joke.

My brother is literally addicted to YT shorts it's the only thing he ever watches and does 😭😭😭
There's less money for youtube to make in shorts, that seems to be why.
I mean yes. But then again it would also feel a bit unfair if a regular video, that's like 10 to 20 times longer, would make the same kind of money as a short. I personally also don't get ads when watching shorts.
how?
I am the one who watch it million times .
Then I search Principessa song
Now since last 30 days I am just playing same song again and again and the solo you played.
Can you please make a video on how you create that sound for Principessa solo
Bro is getting $41k MINIMUM currently per month JUST FROM PLAYING GUITAR PATREON! That is nuts...
Damn, that's more than what I get in a year 😂
He's really earned it, though!
Not really, do you have any idea how much work and how many years of finger breaking practice goes into this?
@@SonicVR12 I do, actually lol
@SonicVR12 and yes, really lol it's just basic math...
what acoustic guitar is that in the video? it looks cool
Congratulations
Great video super interesting.
Congrats, man! UA-cam is the only platform that truly honors creators by paying them for their hard work!
Even if its just a little 😅
tldr? so how much?
My case is the reverse. I wanna watch the short now haha
wow 2k for 15million views is huge 😮I have 3 videos around 11 million and I've only earned $300 for each of them.
This has nothing to do with UA-cam, You start shredding, people start watching 🤘
Always keeping it FUNKY with the people that’s called GANSTA staking care of others to be able to evolve an not being someone who hides an don’t want others to be successful.. keep up good work ONE LOVE

My truck’s paint job is deteriorating on the driveway and I can’t even get the 8-10 thousand dollars to have it painted!
danke, des is sehr hilfreich, hätt glaubt es is eigtl weniger ^^
We all thought you were listening to Brittany Spears while on stage.
Pretty sure you think you are funny but trust me, you are not

$2k for a short is really good
I'm curious on what this video earned by comparison
Thanks for your transparency.
