Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed watching this as much as I did filming it ❤️ The Sigma 24mm F/1.4 lens to shoot the wide-angle Milky Way photo is the one I use to FILM my videos - so it was nice to give it a go with the Canon EOS Ra for the first time! Clear skies 👊 Here are my Milky Way Photography Tips: astrobackyard.com/how-to-photograph-milky-way/
Hey Trevor! Great video!!!! Not sure if you saw my message on Instagram but I had some questions about getting a new camera and thought you’d probably know best! Can’t wait to go to a dark sky site and do some widefield shots!!!
Hey Trevor! I've been watching your videos for about 4 years, since less than 4k subs. I'm 15 now, but I got into AstroBackyard since I was pretty young. I just wanted to say that your videos have literally changed my life and I really respect and appreciate the time and effort you put into your art. I just recently bought a RedCat 51, got my old camera astro-modified, bought some filters and a mount. I wouldn't be starting astrophotography without you. Thank you so much and even though I have SO many questions about astrophotography, I would have so much less if it wasn't for AstroBackyard. Thank you for everything and taking me along in your journey and giving me the knowledge to start my own.
Yep, what's cool is that once you learn the night sky, it will stay the same forever (aside from comets and nova) but the tech used to record it gets better and better. Enjoy a life long hobby!
Hey look kid! How nice it is seeing such a young person learning and enjoying this amazing hobby! You have so much more to look forward to my friend! Astronomy and astrophotography are improving year on year, so it only gets better and better! 👌👍
It would be nice if my city had a day where all light goes off. So I can truly see the wonders of the sky. I've never seen the milky way. One day I hope do capture an image like you do.
Good show as always. You're not only accomplished imager; you're also the god of the winds and clouds. Most of MY astrophotography/visual astronomy attempts end with clouds moving in just as the moon is setting. CLEAR SKIES!
Great video, Trevor, and beautiful Milky Way images. It was especially nice to see you, Ashley, and Rudie get away for a nice camping trip. Clear Skies...
Dude, I just have to say, your channel is awesome. I'm just beginning to dip my toes into this stuff and these vids are incredibly informative, entertaining, and easy to watch. Clear skies!
@@AstroBackyard Hey Trevor, I recently went camping up north at French River just east of Noelville, Ontario and I was looking forward to see the Milky Way there because according to the Bortle Scale Map it is a class 2 site. However come night time, not many stars appeared in the sky and appeared as if it is class 7 or 8 on the scale which was very disappointing. We did have a full moon though. I was wondering why that was the case and what are some of the best actual class 1 or 2 sites I can go to and what the best map there is.
Your channel is awesome and I love your enthusiasm for this hobby and how much you encourage others no matter how new to go out & just give it a go. Fantastic
love the milky way shots, you can see the swan and eagle nebulas and the coat hanger cluster so clearly. Have not tried to shoot the milky way before but definitely will at some point.
That is the best milky way image I have ever seen ❤️ I recently took an image myself.... hopefully one day I'll be able to take one like you....your my inspiration... thank you so much Trevor
love these vids, Rudy looks cool as per the norm, lovely shots and as I am just starting astrophotography loads of good tips. The only thing I need now is some clear nights, I live in the English riviera and I have'nt seen a clear night for months.Keep safe guys and clear skies.
Hi Trevor, You're video of Ashley and you outside camping taking pictures of the Milky way, was beautiful. I hope one day to find some class 4 skies here to take pictures like this🙂🌠
That “central core” pic has got me jealous - look at how the lagoon and eagle stand out - amazing! I noticed that Trevor is mounting the DSLR directly to the Star Adventurer, without a ball head adapter or anything like that. Doesn’t that mess up the orientation of the sensor to the horizon?
Love the effort you put in creating always new and interesting videos, your new final-image animation is an excellent example. These tiny details are what makes you channel special Trevor, you are an inspiration for basically everyone who watches your video, a big WOW from Italy!
Great vid, Trevor! So nice to see/hear from Ashley - more please. The Sigma 1.4 certainly earned its keep. I hope we will see more of Its images in future.
Hey fellow Canadian, I really like your videos an particularly their "you are there" style slow pace. You really show your passion and it's contagious. I remember your first planet image you made of Saturn (with the Celestron Edge HD 11) and the emotion you showed at the end, looking at a final image on your monitor ; it was priceless
Hey Trevor! I'm the one who tweeted you my Milky Way shots from this weekend. Just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to get out there and truly experience the night sky. I've lived in a Bortle 8/9 my whole life, and finally drove out 6 hours to Black Mesa State Park in northwestern Oklahoma, which is a Bortle 1! The shots I was able to capture were beyond my wildest dreams and it was something I'll truly never forget.
Hah! We were at Rock Point a few days prior to get a comet shot but the weather didn’t behave. Trevor, your UA-cams are a joy to watch - especially the Photoshop tricks. I wonder if you could post something about fixing tracking errors (unwanted star trails, etc.) in PS for those of us who always struggle with guiding and mount issues.
Great video Trevor like always! Keep it up! I recently shot the milkyway without a star tracker, and that was such a mesmerizing feeling now i am hooked forever. (saving up for star tracker and i'll see what happens next $$).
Another wonderful video! The 25th was my 41st birthday and I spent it camping and trying out some milky way shots that night as well. I was at Succor Creek State Park in Oregon. Wonderfully dark sky. I set my alarm for midnight to make sure the moon was out of the way and got a few decent shots. Just got my tracker in the mail today so I'm excited to move into this other aspect of photography and to do it right. Your videos have been a great help along the way! Thank you. Also, I loved the doggy bed with the stuffed animal. :)
i love your videos about stargazing for every time you inspiring me, you are really my fave astro youtuber , i interested about space from my childhood i have celestron astromaster 114 , i bought DSLR stargazing so thanks for your videos again . Be bless.
I am really loving your videos man. Your travel videos are so enjoyable. Your reviews and tutorials are really helping me learn how to start into astrophotography. Need to pick up a star tracker soon. Keep up the awesome videos and photos.
Great video as always Trevor, we have had nothing but clouds here in Ireland for the last 3 weeks... Hoping for better weather soon, hope you and Ashley are keeping good. :)
I got my first DSLR camera and its an Canon XSI. Im so exited to take some pictures at the milky way. I will watch your 2 year old video that is a tutorial how to edit the milky way on photoshop . Btw Awesome Video Trevor !
Hey Trevor! Nice video❤️❤️❤️...I bouth my first planetary telescope last year.I am still just a kid so i cant afford better telescope, but you keep uploading great videos about nebulas and galaxies and that always make my day better!thanks for beeing a astrography channel.
Hi I'm glad I found your channel you have some great content, I'm about to start the journey in AP and DSP for now I want a telescope that I can use for light AP as well as visual and easy to transport and ordered the Celestron 8 SE "still new in the box" and I would make a home made wedge but now I'm second guessing my self and I want to return it and get the C8 bundle with the AVX what do you think? and eventually I would get an EQ6-R and a 80mm APO triplet refractor am I going in the right track? also I have a camping trip in 2 weeks where it would be really dark do and I have a Canon mirrorless M50 and a 22mm/F2 do you think I would be able to capture the galaxy with this set up? do I need a tracking mount? and what settings you recommend e.g. ISO and exposure. Thank you.
Love hearing Ashley's perspective. I can see why Rudy is enjoying the camping trip! Still hoping to get to Geauga Observatory Park (outside Cleveland-a certified dark sky) over Labor Day.
Love your content! but I my wife would have already left me, if all we ever do, is around my hobbies/work!! :D Man, your wife literally does all the shores while you have fun/work!! :)

Where in Ontario is this?
That sigma lens is looking soooo nice. It really makes your videos look awesome and super cinematic. Keep it up!
The new 20mm 1.4 is INSANE for wide milky way shots. I love me Tamron 15-30mm f2.8
Do you have a link for the Tripod. That was a very very handy one. I need it :)

Hey do you have an ig? I would follow you.
ember Snoxx I don’t but I’m starting my own photography business so I’m making one soon. I’ll lyk in another vid once I make it
It would be nice if my city had a day where all light goes off. So I can truly see the wonders of the sky. I've never seen the milky way. One day I hope do capture an image like you do.
That sounds like the best idea!
Hope you'll find a dark spot one day. That night you might forget to take a picture because it's so amazing!
If you have the ability, just drive out 30 mins from the city. Usually it's dark enough for you to get a glimpse of the Milky Way.
I never saw it until a month ago. Now I've ordered a Star Tracker
@@kevinjack5184 Astrophotography addiction escalates quickly :D Next thing you know, you'll be doing Deep Space Photography.

Good show as always. You're not only accomplished imager; you're also the god of the winds and clouds. Most of MY astrophotography/visual astronomy attempts end with clouds moving in just as the moon is setting.

Yes it limits the pointing orientation on the sensor but in this case I just rotated the image in post!
it's not lagoon, it's Omega
Very nice video Trevor as usual! Cheers :))
That sigh Ashley made when you asked her questions made me laugh so much 😂 she's such a keeper
Really well done! Thanks for taking me camping :)
Thanks from the dark sky’s of Western Australia. Love your work guys.
I really enjoy these vlog style videos. I find them incredibly entertaining.
