Yes or no - the Panoz success incl in Europe is the greatest NASCAR shop achievement, ever? This Yates engine build IMO much more demanding than any domestic use- even super speedway, which for Le Mans would serve as no more than a break-in for the valve train. Who was it prepped the Ruby/Foyt gt40 MkIV?
Bernard car at 41:00 leaves two black streaks down the hill left through turn 4 - then starting up backstraight, two more streaks of rubber WITH CHUNKS EJECTED and tumbling from back of Panoz - my word
Mosport is fantastic, I fell in love with racing at it, especially the ALMS. The new "updates" may have faded the character of it a bit, but it's still an awesome track. I can't wait to go once again next weekend, and I hope the USCR comes back well into the future.
You wrote this 4 years ago, and now I'm answering 4 years later. This race would have been after LeMans. I don't have a calendar in front of me, but they mentioned the Dodge Vipers coming over from some racing at Sarthe, at some point.
It is funny how I used to avoid commercials, muting my TV, but now I listen to them for their nostalgic factor. Notice how a lot of these commercials are about financial shows. This was the time when the stock market was booming, but most of this boom was a bunch of hot air. Enron. Dynergy. Sunbeam. All these companies claiming they're making all this money, when really they were just cooking books, playing with peoples' money. But the common person who wanted to get into business didn't know this at the time. He / she was watching all these financial shows, hoping to figure a way to get rich. Ha.
Loved seeing the Panoz Roadsters run at Mosport. Too bad BMW used that poor excuse and withdrew. And really loved that Porsche GT1. I much prefer the changes to the infrastructure around the track after Crappy Tire pumped a bunch of money into the track. Much easier to get around the track, down to Moss Corner and way better facilities for camping including hot (well, warm) showers!
OUCH this race was just a 16 hour drive from here - a better field of race cars, with finer engine notes, never came closer to me lest it was Can Am at St Jovite when I was like, 13 - and I did not attend this race
Just imagine if BMW had entered though. The race without BMW was exciting enough, just with Riley versus Panoz. I think it would have been a mess with BMW thrown into the mix, you know?

I get why they did those updates. I think the character is still there, just with modern touches and safety standards.

BMW didn't think the track was safe enough.
Just imagine if BMW had entered though. The race without BMW was exciting enough, just with Riley versus Panoz. I think it would have been a mess with BMW thrown into the mix, you know?
