One day years ago while driving in my car with the radio on and up, out of the seemingly blue of anywhere, and thus from nowhere in particular, the airwaves delivered such an impactful cut that, when I arrived home, I immediately began searching the obscure radio station's online playlist so as to discern the artist responsible for what was and is a magnificent composition; a song as timely in its message as it is important in its feel. That song was Julian Lennon's "Always".
Then today, in almost Jungian fashion, the same dynamic filtered through the ether of air and sky; the kind of impact that somehow shifts one's presence into that realm of immediacy, that region where one is simply `there', timeless, like assimilating a dream, and after I snapped myself back into the world of objects, values, and linearity, I again found myself searching online for the obscure station's radio playlist; thereby discovering "Lucky Ones".
An amazing cut, with all the conflict of realism and the intuitive sense of how here within the mystery--where every stasis of certainty develops as just another link in the chains which blind--we still nevertheless sense, feel, and hear (this regardless of the morass which surrounds) the shared energy that reflects how we are the lucky ones.
This is an important communique. Whereas the fundamentally positive energy of "Always" may have sometimes been lost to those daunted by the demands and paradigmatic dynamics which have led to our current historical precipice (as too be sure, the mirror can often be a scary view, often triggering escape from cognitive dissonance into delusions, absolutism, intransigent either/or posturing, etc., e.g., I'm reminded of Heidegger's statement concerning how "only a god can save us now"), "Always" reiterates what is clearly both an epistemic AND ontological antecedent: flux, mystery, and CHANGE reflect not merely what is possible, but moreover such denotes an originary aspect of what it means to be human within this world of awe, terror and wonder; and as such, regardless of how impossible any meaningful paradigmatic change may appear to one's analytical mind, change is a constant!
Add to this "Lucky Ones", and it is as though the simple act of consciously understanding this existential truth--that if change is a constant then eventually even Nietzsche's `eternal recurrence of the same' must proffer a mix of variables which assimilate and account for that which has hitherto been excluded and subjected to the periphery--means that even without the tradition's failed semiotics, symbols, systems of meaning, dogmas, truths, and beliefs, those thus imbued with such an understanding, and who thereby understand how in "letting go" of the long held concepts hitherto deemed sacrosanct (as why hold that not sacred as sacrosanct!), the "absence" created sans all such defining dictates, allows one to see that they are the lucky ones. "Always" and "Lucky Ones"...fucking genius!

I don't understand why people made a big fuss when Julian first came out and he sounded like his father. why wouldn't he. is that a bad thing? i sound and talk like my parents and family. don't we all. anyway Julian's music still was original and his own. i was lucky enough to hear those wonderful and beautiful songs live. i'll never forget that night and after all these years Julian is still killing it. all i got to say about Lucky Ones is WOW!
