The French foreign legion is the most elite group in the French army, usually used for very high risk missions, kinda like Ukrained does with Azov. They could have an impact, but they are too few of them to do anything good for Ukraine long term.

It was on his Weapons and Strategy substack.

I’ve been hearing different things regarding the French foreign legion. Some say that the legionnaires are considered part of the French military. Can anyone clarify?
Yes. They are french military generally speaking, just like the Ukrainian foreign legion is Ukrainian military as well.
They are in French Army, but are not French (at least most of them).
Yes they belong to the french army but "unlike" ukrainian foreign legion.
Most of them are foreigners unlike regular french soldiers because they are sent to hard spots without a war being officialy declared. That’s why the condition of enrolment are very wide and not selective (legion accept "out of law" foreigners for whom legion become a refuge) but these guys may not be all healthy..
