wow fancy to meet my hometown here (˶˚ ᗨ ˚˶) QHD is very quiet small northern town near Beijing. It is clean and have beautiful beaches and mountains. the great wall rush into the sea here and we have other ancient spots for more than 4000 years. and foods are cheap and tasty. but I have to say it is a place good to spend the holiday and relax rather than a trip
When visiting friends in Beijing back in March of 07 we took a 12 hour sleeper train to Xi'an and saw the warriors. We were lucky as there was no crowds and got to take our time looking over the excavation site. Its definitely a site to see while in China. Then off to Hua Shan mountain for the cliff walk :)
We got the sleeper train too! It was our first time so we also made a video about it. You were lucky, did you go on a weekday? Unfortunately, we didn't have time to go to Hua Shan, maybe next time.
Xian is really a beautiful city and it just makes me feel incredible to see how the ancient attractions and the modern city coexist together, however some policy local municipal government implements and it's relatively low efficiency of administration makes this city not so perfect; also Xian is famous of it's different variety of noodle foods, the Lanzhou beef noodle would be dwarfed in Xian
Nico great video if you go back next time to Xain you must go to the Tomb of Emperor Jingdi (Hanyangling) which has half size warriors and in most cases you will have the place to yourself it is based at the end of the airport in xain

The difference with the terra cotta warriors is that, while massive in scale, they are not massive in terms of viewing space like the Forbidden City and Great Wall (poor Niko). -Come during autumn, spring, or winter and *NOT* during the summer or *any* Chinese national holiday. Pit 1 is the first pit and was built during the 70s with no A/C. I came during the summer, but on a Monday, so while it wasn't crowded, it was still very hot. Can't imagine what it would be like with loads of people. However, schoolchildren are also off during the summer and a favorite thing for families to do with young children is bring them here. So, if you're not one for noisy kids and heat, a weekday in late October is your best bet.
