Cael wrestled with a joyous, spontaneous and creative flair, and I think he's has a similar influence on the wrestlers he coaches. I watched his first NCAA victory recently, and the commentators made a remark about how he seems to be having fun. I think this approach has been an effective strategy against the Gable/Brands/Tom Ryan grind school of wrestling.
I agree, Penn State wrestlers are known for their creativity and flair. Just look at David Taylor, Quentin Wright, Bo Nickal, RBY, etc. Cael also has the coaching to help his guys make adjustments from Big 10s to NCAAs. They had 5 natty champs and won team titles in 2017 and 2022, but they lost Big 10s both years.
I love the iowa style but their lineup always seems burnt out going into this tournament. Idk if they practice way too hard prior or what but somethings always off
Yeah, it seems his shoulder was bothering him more further into the tournament. In their quarterfinal match, Hidlay only won by 2 points but he majored Kemerer here. Kemerer had to dig deep to win 3 consolation matches with the bad shoulder. Nonetheless, both guys had great careers and are 5 time All-Americans.
Iowa’s team looks so burnt out and beat up man. Their style is entertaining and gets things done but in the long run it doesn’t look effective when it comes to finishing out a season on top. Just wish I could see Alex Marinelli in the finals😔
Not shocking to see a team full of 11th year seniors look old, tired, and slow at the end of the season. They're just ready to get the season over so they can go home and spend time with their grandchildren.
@@jamiehoward7941 I think they put it all into the big 10s and the wrestlers dont really have the stamina, endurance and mindset going into the NCAA's. Kremer and eirman are injured, Lee's out, and marinelli gets knocked out the champ bracket as usual.
Their team is old AF for one. If you're closer to 30 years old than 20 you shouldn't be wrestling in college. I'd be embarrassed to be Kemerer. Move on with your life there numbnuts.
@@XZOL445 I dont neccesarily agree cause 1 its folk style so this is the highest level you can wrestle and 2 these young guys compete freestyle with the older team. There are 20 year old boxers and mma fighters who fight guys in their 30s. I feel what your saying but it's not that simple at the same time. Tbh I wish older guys could compete more in folk style outside of the NCAA's. Like how DT wrestled in Midland's. Better competition and more expansion of the sport

I don't know why...most of them withdrew from their final matches at the Big 10. They should be well rested.
