Thank you! First responders are absolute legends. I basically grabbed clothes, medication and papers, along with a couple of precious art supplies, but had to leave a lot behind. 😭 Things can be replaced though.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that with your dad, Becky. I had to evacuate my sister and her cat from her apartment during a wildfire. It was very scary and stressful as we could see the fire and the helicopters were flying overhead and she wanted to take more than my car could hold and the emergency alarms and police were telling us to get out. A few years later, my husband and I were forced to evacuate during a huge wildfire- again, helicopters overhead and sheriff’s officers pounding on our door telling us to get out. I’m glad you are ok and I’m saying prayers for your dad’s recovery.
argh- this triggers memories of when my husband was in the hospital for organ removal (and resulting infection) due to cancer and Hurricane Irma came to Florida. They were issuing mandatory evacuations for the island we lived on predicting complete loss of life and structures because it was so severe and huge. We had to stay, and we hunkered down, my husband barely functioning and super ill, and trying to keep everything together. It was truly the most traumatic, worst two weeks of our lives. It's horrible dealing with hospitalization and illness and natural disasters. So I could relate to this story completely. I'm glad you guys are okay. We sustained $100,000 damage to out house and finally gout of of Florida as soon as we could after that.
@@BeckyTregear The minute you started telling your story, I was thinking "oh please don't say she had to evacuate with her dad while he was unwell!" I'm sososo glad you guys are through it (really! you marvel at the relief for weeks after!) and I really hope your dad does incredibly well.
Hello, Ginger. That is indeed horrifying, but thank you for sharing your trauma. I cannot begin to imagine how stressful that must have been or how you managed to deal with the situation. For most of us, it is a very abstract experience. But I am glad that you are safe. I hope you never have to go through that ever again.
Wow, so sorry you had the added stress of a bush fire, it’s bad enough having your dad in hospital. Glad to know you’re both ok. Bet Nick was glad to have you back home. What a sweetheart to give you such a thoughtful gift on your return. Hope the next trip will be way less stressful. You’ll both be in my thoughts.
What a scary & stressful situation! I'm glad you & your family are safe after all that. Hope Dad gets his health issues addressed. Stay safe & rested Becky.
I have friends in Beaufort, they had to evacuate twice. Thankfully their property was untouched. It just shows how important having a fire plan is! Sending all the good vibes to your Dad and hope everything goes well.
Oh goodness, quite the adventure! 😮 I'm glad it all worked out and very interesting that you had that data from your watch. Neat! Glad it's showing a more relaxed graph now. Whew!
How absolutely horrifying! 😨 Thank goodness you and your dad are safe. I hope the summer has well and truly gone by the time you need to take him back to hospital, and that he recovers quickly. 🌹 Those Sennelier goodies that Nick bought you look so good! 😊
Thank you! It is still really hot even though it's now technically Autumn, but hopefully it'll settle down a bit in the next couple of weeks. I'm over the really hot days, that's for sure, haha!
Oh my gosh, that was way too eventful and I’m sorry you went through all of that ! I’m so glad the fire evacuation systems work well and everyone was safe🙏❤ I’m also sorry about your dad experiencing health issues and of course I hope his next surgery fixes the issue and he recovers quickly. On a lighter note, Nick is so sweet and did really well with the sennelier book cover!! I’ve put a hold on collecting art supplies since I haven’t been using them enough lately, but I’m jealous of that set!👀
Your notebook case dates back to 2019, remember what a different world we had back then. I would have loved one of those, it was a double promotion with Raphael and their travel brush set, I have two of these and will get the third, they are really nice. Just a perfect handy size. Glad you and your dad are ok, what an ordeal.
What a time you’ve had Becky - such a worry! I remember one Xmas I went to my mum’s in the B Mountains and once I got there, came right back to Syd. Such big fires, terrifying! So glad you’re safe 🤗
Omg! Becky that is so horrible. I’m glad you and your Dad are okay. I hope he’s okay and recovers quickly from his health issues. I look forward to another sweet video of you and he doing some plein air painting again really soon. Hugs from Canada!
Oh, Becky, I’m so sorry for your troubles and the stress you’ve experienced. Please take care of yourself, rest well and stay creative. We love you and we are here for anything, anytime you feel like to share with us. ❤
Oh Becky what a drama!! I'm glad your Dad's doing ok for the moment and sorry to hear he will need more surgery, and what a scary time for you with the bushfire!! I shall promptly send you all the heavy rain, cold winds and dark days we have daily here, your welcome lol :D
I had been thinking about your safety; so scary but I'm pleased it has been going as well as possible 💙 Best wishes for your Dad. Keeping your normal routine seems like a great coping strategy. I prefer your Sennelier case more than your recent expensive and heavy purchase
Oh, Becky, you poor thing. I am glad you and your dad are ok. What a stressful time you had. I live in Australia, so I know how bad the bush fires can get, take care, and stay safe. I look forward to your next video. I love the gift from your husband. What a great guy he is ❤
We evacuated for the 2009 Black Saturday fires. I had actually just had surgery too and was still recovering at home. We had a big open paddock across the road, and idiots lit it on fire, on the day that turned out to be the worst day of fires ever in Victoria. Within minutes, the house was completely white with smoke, so we grabbed the cats and got in the car. We really had no clue what to do. It was so scary and even more scary as the cats didn't do well with it. I wasn't sure one of them was going to actually survive the day. She had gone limp and was so petrified, after we took them to someones house. She did not look well at all. We did return that night to the house, and I was scared sleeping as there were embers in the yard. Because I had had surgery I was sleeping downstairs in the living room, where we had the AC and the embers were really only 2 or 3 meters from where I was sleeping. But obviously we are ok, the cats were ok after that day too. It was very scary and I understand how you would have felt. I think I came close to passing out after it all, because it was a very eventful and extremely hot day, and as I said, I was still recovering from surgery.
Oh that's so awful! The Black Saturday fires were really terrible, and to think you were in them....wahhh! I'm so glad you and your kitties survived and there has to be a special place for people who deliberately set fires. A very hot place....🔥
I'm so relieved that you & your Dad are ok. Evacuation orders are scary. I remember having to evacuate when I lived near the Royal National Park. My mum was packing all the photos & special things, my stepfather refused to leave & was hosing down the roof. I was very pregnant packing all the baby stuff I could. We were lucky that we all were ok & the house didn't catch fire. But my stepfather refusing to leave & stay to fight the fire was scary & stupid. I hope everything goes well for your Dad's next surgery. You were brave & are a good daughter, you did all the right things. 👍
It's such a scary feeling knowing you have to leave everything and only take what you can pack, but it's never worth staying to fight the fire. Stuff can be replaced...people can't! Dad's gotten through his major surgery and I just returned home today after three weeks of being there helping out. I'm exhausted!
@@BeckyTregear Your right. I'm so glad your Dad is ok. I know it's hard being a YT but you have to give yourself a break. You deserve a nice relaxing holiday or whatever makes you happy.
Hi Becky, You sure had a lot of stress to deal with! I am glad things are calmer now. Well, we all make purchases that are not the best, but hopefully in the end it will all work out.
So sorry to hear about your stressful days. I am glad that you are all safe. I know how stressful it is when someone has to undergo surgeries. I was lucky to be with them in the hospital while they were recovering so that released some stress; but it was exhausting, although nowhere near as exhausting as having to pack for two people and rush away from home, not knowing whether you will return. But I’m glad everything worked out fine.
Hi Becky I’m glade you guys are ok.. I seen it on the news up hear in Townsville and it looked so scary.. it was scary for me in January when we had the cyclone went though Townsville with all the text messages warnings to stay in a shelter don’t go outside ect the wind and house shaking omg that’s scary.. ❤❤❤😊😊😊xxxx
Glad the bushfire didnt affect your family, so much stress! Hope you father is with the next surgery. Waiting for my own dad to have a few surgeries, but im way too far away to take care of him but he does have a lot of friends that can help 😀
It's always such a stressful time when loved ones need surgeries! I'm glad I'm close enough to help out, but that in itself can be exhausting so I'm trying not to burn out in a carer role, and Dad has his friends too which have been checking up on him.

What a stressful time! I’m glad the fire emergency system is reliable, it takes a lot of guesswork out of it.
Hope your dad feels better soon!
Thank you! I'm very grateful for the fire emergency system and all of the crews who did an incredible job of wrangling that fire into submission.
