    -----
An intense video out of Afghanistan shows a US Special Forces soldier getting treated for a serious gunshot wound and then walking off of his own volition.
This video is actually used as a military training aid for what to do right when things go wrong. As soon as the soldier is shot, he is moved to a relatively secure spot just behind the firing line. The medic immediately starts treating him for his severe bleeding. After applying the chest seal he then goes on to assess his casualty for further hemorrhaging while asking the wounded man about his breathing.
The soldier is quickly stabilized but must be moved even further back from the fighting to await MEDEVAC from the battlefield. Even though he is seriously wounded and drugged with morphine, he grabs his rifle and walks back to the casualty collection point. The medic then returns back to the frontline, ready to treat the next wounded man.

you don't give Motrin IM to my knowledge@@markl2322 . IM could be ketamine, morphine, or fentanyl. Motrin is generally not indicated in combat because it (and other NSAIDs) have some coagulopathic side effects and can cause issues with blood clotting. Fentanyl and morphine are getting used less and less because opiates can cause respiratory depression, and I imagine that could become a pretty big issue when the casualty already has a collapsed lung. Ketamine also seriously alters your mental status though and idk if you would be able to just walk around like he did here with a full dose of it. I'm guessing either morphine or ketamine and I'm not far enough into my training to know which of those two the medic used yet
Edit: after looking through the comments some more I'm pretty sure it's morphine

This medic reminds me of my dad. He was an EMT on an ambulance from 1988 to 1998. I remember when my sister broke her collar bone, or when I burned my arm bad or when my friend cut himself open, my dad is always the calmest person in the room. He never panics, no matter how bad the situation is or no matter how bad everyone else is freaking out. There is no better feeling than having someone so calm is working on you (or with you). I go to him about everything (medical or not). He always knows when to apply the right amount of seriousness and urgency while somehow providing the right amount of comfort. I told my dad about this one day and he just laughed. He said that he has anxiety too, he's just not good at showing it!
Anyways, a good medic is always the calmest one. You can trust your life in their hands.

The realization that overcomes your body when your brain registers the fact that you've got a chest wound is a scary thing. The scariest feeling I've ever felt in my life. Knowing your life is now in the hands of some sort of higher power and time is the only thing that will tell whether you make it home or not, it's just a traumatic thing. If you survive, you think about it everyday. You replay it over and over. Much respect for this dude touching it out and getting on the move. Good thing he had the medic there and his comrads to push him to get up and get his legs working. Your body tells you the opposite. It tells you to just lay down and relax. But you have to fight that sometimes. You either fight, or you die. The only thing you need to force yourself to do is these types of situations, is move toward the help, or somewhere you'll be noticed in case you collapse and can no longer walk or get around. But that survival instinct kicks in and gives you an extra nudge. Well, assuming so. It was the case for me. But yea, what a fucking champ this guy is.

Mad props to the medic treating him for being able to stay so calm, keep the man wounded calm, and direct everyone else as to what he needed them to be doing so that he could get this man back to a safer position to be further treated, all while remaining in a firing zone, what a man! I'd definitely want someone like him on my team in a situation like this, someone who can be trusted to stay in control under one of the absolute highest stress level situations possible. And props to the other soldier too for jumping right in to help without any hesitation whatsoever. I assume the soldier was ok in the end, I don't believe it said, he did walk out of there like an absolute boss but with a gunshot wound like that, there's always the chance that he's functioning on mostly adrenaline or whatever and it could turn out to be a lot more serious than it already appeared to be anyway so I hope and pray that he was able to recover completely and without complications afterwards.

I saw a video of a marine being hauled on a stretcher out of a combat area and he was firing his side arm at the enemy. Great job by the medic and thank you for your service Sargent Charles, you are awesome. My son served in Afghanistan as a corpsman with the Marines. He is now a Petty Officer 1st class and teaching at the corpsman school. My oldest son served with the Marines also.

Chuck walked out with his weapon...way to stay in the fight brother! And that medic was beyond squared away, I would go to war with him anytime. And there really is nothing sweeter than the sound of freedom raining down!

At this point they are no longer fighting for our freedom‘s here at home but for the freedoms of all those people abroad held in the shackles by the Taliban and other disgusting groups. Fighting for strangers right to exist, their right to their own pursuit of happiness.
