The dealership was going to charge me $ 1.200 I have a 2019 Rogue I looked at your Video, you made it look so easy, thank you.👍🏽👊🏽👊🏽 You save me some money. I have the right tools and right Parts I am going to do it myself again, thank you.👊🏽
I found a buddy who did work for a dealership. I swapped my alternator out, I paid him double what mechanics make, paid him $150, and bought my own parts for 608, new belt and alternator. Dealerships charges an arm and a leg. It really is criminal. I try to do most of my work if I can. But that was above my pay grade. I can't believe how much they charge.
After watching this video I decided I didn't even care how much the dealer wanted for this work, I did it myself. Thank you very much for a great video, direct and to the point. Just as an aside, as other people have done, I'll list a couple of things I did differently. I did one cylinder at a time so that I only had one cylinder opening open. I also added the anti-seize to the threads of the new spark plugs.
Good video. I inserted the spark plug using a rubber flexible hose to grip the ceramic end of the plug. You can buy a rubber hose in most auto shops. Also, put dielectric grease on the coil end to preserve the spark plugs ceramics from cracks over time and create a good seal.
Thank you so much! This was a very easy DIY project. I had most of the tools already. Couldnt find the exact extraction tool you used, but found a Duralast 11" straight needle nose at Auto Zone that fit perfectly in the spark plug socket. Saved me a trip to the mechanic and about $120!
For a 20 min job, firestone quoted me 1 hour of labor plus 85 for the plugs. Realistically they were honest about how long it took and I was in and out under an hour. Doing it yourself is easy and cheaper for sure. But not all shops are gonna Rob you.
Yeah I’m not worried about it much. I just hope anyone doing it is successful and not hurt. Thank you for the positive feedback though 👍🏼 always good to receive some haha
Glad i saw this video as i have a 2016 Rogue with 82k miles on it. Had it almost one year so i want to change out my spark plugs. Only thing i noticed is that u don't do your plugs one at a time and then start it up to check in case there is an issue.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I am doing work on my Nissan rogue myself because I can’t trust the shops anymore. I just changed my alternator myself by using a video to guide me and now I need help with changing my spark plugs and oil change. So you have a video on oil change for 2015 Nissan rogue?
I didn’t have a chance to do one. We’ve since sold the vehicle. If you cant find a video then look up location of the oil filter and drain plug. All it is is take off the drain plug, let all the oil drain, put the drain plug back in, take the old oil filter out and let it drain, rub oil on the new oil filter where it mounts to the engine, install oil filter hand tight and then fill up with recommend oil and check level. The first time you do it after a shop will be the hardest. The plug will be too tight along with the oil filter
I have 200,000 miles on my Rogue... same plugs... I get the exact same mileage as I've always gotten... starts perfectly. Actually I dont think that I've changed any plugs on my cars for at least 25 years now. I've only had to replace a left front caliper on my Rogue.. everything else was just routine maintenance that i do myself. Oil Changes every 15k miles... by now, if something were to go wrong.. I can just go buy another car....however this time a Toyota. I miss my Lexus.. nice knowing the car will be reliable.
That’s awesome! I wouldn’t recommend it but so far you’ve gotten away with it. We just travel across the states with our kids and as a father I’d like to make sure the car is reliable for the kids
@@JoKeRTechz I did have an old Chevy, that was my first car and I was driving to work one day and it was very foggy outside and I was having a misfire. But I know that the only reason that is happening is because my spark plug wires are shorting out. So I went and bought new wires and I left the same spark plugs in there and that cured everything. I'm a tool and die maker but at one point I wanted to be an auto mechanic and I finished high school with a 104% average in auto. I worked in the garage as an installer for 5 years and sometimes I would help the mechanics diagnose problems and even though it wasn't my job, sometimes I would be bored and I would say that I can change this water pump or alternator and things like that. Even though that's all I do on my car, routinely check my belt for cracks and look for leaks and change the air filter I do servicing on my brakes every fall to make sure the calipers are nice and loose and I sprayed the bottom of my car with fluid film that is in the aerosol can because that is not water soluble. The bottom of my car looks brand new because this stuff will never wear off. In my Malibu my first car I seen that I had Rusty brake lines, my mechanic friend at my part-time job change it for me. I told him to take the entire brake system apart and replace every single line. I don't care what the cost is I just want to have everything new so I do look after things and when I was teaching my wife how to drive I told her before any drive like if you go to the parking lot and your car is there just look on both sides and see how the tires are and I always, I mean always keep an eye out on tire pressures including the spare. I've helped out my friends in the past with their car issues and tell them what to watch out for. I had a Pontiac Bonneville ssei that had two belts and they wore out every 6 months. That was so unreliable that when I was done with it I didn't even sell it I told them to crush it because that's what it deserved.
That makes no sense because Nissan Rogues in this time frame do not need a standard tune-up. They were made so they don't. All that's needed in a tune-up for a Nissan Rogue in this year range are spark plugs, which cost about $10 each so just purchase them from the store and get a mechanic to install them which then you're just paying for labor. No reason to ever go to a dealership unless you literally have no other option
I am going to change my Spark Plugs. I have a 2019 Nissan Rogue I will be following your instructions. I guess I should disconnect the battery but I believe I will need a jump when I reconnect it. I will have to watch a video on that, is there anything else I need to know before changing them.
They will be dark and black covered in soot or a dry rusted color. It’s a hybrid so the spark plug don’t need to be changed as often if you are doing city driving. My car felt like it had a slight misfire and I tend to change my oil and plugs more than the average car owner would
It’s possible. Change them and see what happens but it could be something else. The spark plugs would have to be in terrible condition to cause that. Make sure the wires are connected to the spark plugs good
A best practice would be to use compressed air or a strong leaf blower to remove dust and debris from the top of the engine befpre removing the coils. This keeps debris/dust from potentially falling in the plug coil hole (spark plug housing).
@JoKeRTechz I did my wife's 2020 Rogue today and found if I unclipped the connector there was not enough room to release it unless I moved the coil pack up a couple of inches
@@JoKeRTechz Thanks so much for this video. Husband and I replaced our spark plugs and our Rogue is running great now. Extremely smooth. Some spark plugs, like Denso, ask you to not use anti seize-- they mean it! The old Denso that came with the car came out fairly easily despite being very overdue. We used a little dielectric on the boot to make slipping it on easier. Best of luck to anyone else doing this.
Please don’t use Bosch or anything else. Use ngk I replaced mine at 80,000 miles used Bosch and started getting less mileage so I changed them again at 120000 (40,000 after) , this time I got NGK and the mileage is better than before, also changed the valve cover and gasket OEM

Would you recommend changing the coil packs while you change the spark plugs?
Depends on how many miles. I wouldn’t change coil packs until they fail though
No but you could change the coil boots after 120,000 miles and transmission cooler filter ( outside of transmission)
What kind of oil do you recommend for my Nissan Rogue 2019? Thanks for the information
5w-30 Mobil 1 Advanced

What size of the extension bar you using ? For unplugging the sparks plug
Probably a 6 inch long 3/8 drive extension. I have a bunch of dl different sized extensions
So the bosch 9695 are direct replacements for the Rogue 2.5L?
Any auto parts store or dealership parts store can pull that info up for you free of charge
Do not cut corners and use a regular socket. Use a spark plug socket… it makes life so much easier.
Agreed!

It’s possible. Change them and see what happens but it could be something else. The spark plugs would have to be in terrible condition to cause that. Make sure the wires are connected to the spark plugs good
That jerking happened to me and it was the CVT transmission unfortunately, costed me almost 6k .
no grease or anything on the new spark plugs?
You can put grease on the spark plugs. I’ve never put it but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t
A best practice would be to use compressed air or a strong leaf blower to remove dust and debris from the top of the engine befpre removing the coils. This keeps debris/dust from potentially falling in the plug coil hole (spark plug housing).
Oh yeah, definitely. I’ll try to remember that next time. I have a compressor too..
What else does my nissan need for tune up?
Clean or replace the intake filter, oil change, tire rotation
You can use impact taking it of and putting it on. The trick is to go reverse first and than send it slow
Yeah for sure but I’d rather not suggest to other people who may be doing spark plugs for their first time ever to use an impact haha
So Mechanic wants 200 bucks to replace S.Plugs 0n 2016 Rouge.. I only hv 60,200 miles.. 🤔
That’s not too bad. I would just do it myself though.
Couldn't you swing the coil pack up and then disconnect the wire connector?
Keeping the coil pack bolted helps being able to hold it still while you unplug it. I find it easier but others may want to do it the other way
@JoKeRTechz I did my wife's 2020 Rogue today and found if I unclipped the connector there was not enough room to release it unless I moved the coil pack up a couple of inches
Sometimes you have to switch it up haha nice job
How often replace the spark plug
Every 50-80K miles
They last up to 100,000 miles

How deep was your deep well socket?
A standard deep well socket size for a 3/8 ratchet. Get some spark plug sockets to make it easier though
