What a brilliant video! I'm sure speed could be increased on the straighter sections of this line. I certainly wouldn't expect 40mph in the Beddgelert area!
Sorry its been a while since I processed this, I think it was about 10x. There is another video , at normal speed on UA-cam that I put on of the run from Beddgelert to Rhyd Ddu.
Love the comical sounds of the engine accelerating and visually hitting warp drive. It would have been even better with a strangulated whistle or comical fart. Peter Sellers was into all this with The Goons, and he even had a model railway I think. It's even better played at speed x 1.75, and probably best enjoyed when not in a legal state of mind.
Your video is excellent, but could not enjoy it fully as your logo needs to be shifted to one of the corners. Trust you will consider my suggestion. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. Best regards, Nassa
Would be cool if it really did go that fast. The train dawdles along at what seems like walking pace in reality. It’s nearly an hour to Beddgelert which is only about 7 miles or so.
This was filmed during a Guest Driver Experience . The day started at Boston Lodge then a run from Boston Lodge to Tan y Bwlch, then back to ortmadoc for lunch. Afternoon was run to Rhyd Ddu then back to Boston Lodge
Gorgeous footage (what was the actual time taken??) Just shows what a fabulous job the gangers did re-opening this!! Rhyd ddu to Caernafon next?(or is it already there but hiding.........)
Actual running time was about 75mins not including the stops at Pont Croesor and Beddgelert Filmed onadriving experience day and as yet theydon't do the Rhyd Ddu to Caernarfon section checkout the Portmadoc to Ffestiniog run with Linda from this summer
arch9enius.........right on fellows. The US had numerous spring switches many years ago where mainline traffic had the points but a siding train could enter the spring switch and not have to stop and reset the switch back to the main. Not many of those left anymore. Great video.
Bogus video, train cruising madly on a Meter Gauge track, that too on *snake binding curves is impossible.* Obviously the video has played on 2.0 speed if not 2.5. A steam engine accelerating too fast is never seen. What did you achieve in putting the title "High Speed" is not clear. The "Bonus" part is the track change switch is showing a break and still the train easily moves over, seen in two places is hilarious.
The Switch/Points are deliberately set that way. They're spring-loaded so the train can push them out of the way as it goes through but they move back immediately. It works so long as the train doesn't try to reverse over the switch, since that would end up derailing the train. But it's a good way of separating the trains so that each direction of travel ends up on opposite sides of the station without requiring anyone to operate the switch.
what a boring film the fast forward speed did make me feel sick The terrrible editing of this film the Ghost appears on opposite platfrom def get you the thumbs down What a mess up
Excellent video enjoyed watching it thanks!
Enjoyed this. Watching from Lexington, KY USA
Fantastic video! We took the same steam train journey in 1013 and it was great to enjoy it once again. Thank you.
That was fantastic. Like a big dipper ride for people that don't like heights.
We must have been doing around 50mph, if not more, so what were those cars doing overtaking us at the approach to Rhyd Ddu doing I wonder? Great fun!!
I doubt if it was doing more than 30 mph, and a single track road has a speed limit of 60 mph, ( unless otherwise stated)
All Aboard. All Aboard. Enjoy the ride.
The best part was to see people and animals darting about as if it was a 'Charlie Chaplin" film!
What a brilliant video! I'm sure speed could be increased on the straighter sections of this line. I certainly wouldn't expect 40mph in the Beddgelert area!
A Really Useful Railway.
Fireman Brynn, set course for Rhyd Ddu, warp 8.
Excellent ! Many thanks !
It would have been nice to see a shot of the train at the beginning.
Tried to add a picture to this comment but unsuccessful sorry
nice scenery when not in the cuttings or the trees, amazing to be overtaken by vehicles apparently doing 90 MPH, Nice, Cheers.
Interesting video, the view is a little different from the footplate of an NG16. Hope you had a good day
Don't forget the whole run was filmed by Video125.
This railway has excellent signalling and safety measures at level crossings
This is just too cool for words!
Ren from S. Calif. here, great video!!
Thanks so much for this, what a great trip :)
What kind of a train video omits an image of the train? Maybe Thomas the Tank Engine was pulling this thing?
Enjoyed journey. Thx.
What is the speed factor?
Double speed?, Treble or more?
It should be in the description.
Sorry its been a while since I processed this, I think it was about 10x.

fast forward makes me feel sick
Just Fantastic well done..respect
Really enjoyed this - but is there high speed film of the final stage of the journey to Caernarfon? Would be good.
This was filmed during a Guest Driver Experience . The day started at Boston Lodge then a run from Boston Lodge to Tan y Bwlch, then back to ortmadoc for lunch. Afternoon was run to Rhyd Ddu then back to Boston Lodge
I got as far as Beddgelert and then had to have a lie down...
Nice photography
@ 6.50 this mysterious Ghost appears on the opposite platform :)
Great video and great railway. But! While i know you want to protect your movie that damm label in the picture is quite disconcerting and irritating.
Tough
Fu
Das ist Großartig !
''What shall I do? I can't stop! Help! Help!''
I meant 2013 of course!
Good way to edit it..ha..ha.😎😎
OMG! The steam engine has gone to plaid!
that wasn't sonic the hedgehog was it?
no, that was just a person walking...
oh... -_-
Video speed 10x?
High speed run, slower than a car.
Great scenery, nonetheless.

Who's the train driver? Benny Hill? mah na mah na
how fast can these trains go?
marvellous, but still 28 thumbs down- I assume some don't like it sped up
How long is the line ??
Too fast it takes the fun of enjoying the beauty of nature.
Bello!* * * * *
the footage is speeded up
I don't know how the rest of us would cope without people like you stating the bleeding obvious for us......
Let's speed it up some more than!
*CHANGES PLAYBACK SPEED TO 2*
12:58 Does he force the points here?
arch9enius the points are spring loaded and automatically reset to send trains to the right
bodorganboys Ok ta. Is that a new thing?
arch9enius don;t think so. FR and WHR don't have signal boxes at all stations so i assume it isstandard on the 2 lines
bodorganboys Reviewing the film, it makes sense now
arch9enius.........right on fellows. The US had numerous spring switches many years ago where mainline traffic had the points but a siding train could enter the spring switch and not have to stop and reset the switch back to the main. Not many of those left anymore. Great video.
What is the track gauge ?
1ft 11 and a half inches
Great filming but oh that logo is too distracting.
this is just fast forwarded film , shame on them for click bait heading
It is no different to how the film,Londonn to Brighton in 4 minutes, was made.
It is just a bit of fun .
Camera run fast
I didn't know you could use a potato to film video.
Rather too speeded up for my liking - sorry.
Tough
The idea is to see the scenery, spoilt video!
Tough. It was a drivers eye view not a scenic film
thought this video was spoiled by doing it to fast so its a thumbs down

Speed spoiled what could have been a good video.
Spoilt by speeding up!
ua-cam.com/video/MtF9p2rT4ac/v-deo.html click on link for a normal speed version of this trip. The section covered is Hafodd-y-Llyn to Rhyd Ddu

Try Timsvideochannel1 as he has several videos of this journey at normal speed, including a driver's-view-only version.
Crap!!!
