Hello sir. Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. My daughter got a small orion refractor telescope for her 10th birthday in August from her uncle. Your videos have been tremendously helpful. I picked her up a skywatcher 8" dob a few weeks ago off Craigslist. I've picked up the 13mm Tele Vue Nagler can't wait to find a 24mm tele vue. I hope this telescope finds a child that will appreciate it. My daughter and I are building some great memories spending time together watching the sky. Thank you again for all the work you put into your videos we appreciate it.
Ed, I’ll toss my hat in the ring for my grandson. I know it will be a long shot but I think the opportunity to meet you in person is the real prize. I really appreciate your channel. Thanks
I have placed several of these and XT6s in the hands of youngsters over the years. Glad this one is getting the same treatment. I’m keeping my current XT4.5 for the long haul, it’s extremely capable for the space it takes up in my vehicle. To be clear, this is not a drawing entry.
I would love this for my youngest... But if they get tired of it, I volunteer heavily for my kids K-8 school, and I would love to donate it to the school, where there are some teachers who love teaching the kids space. I'd be so psyched to set it up for viewing parties throughout the year. I'm almost exactly 50 miles away, and am happy to meet somewhere near Manchester.
Hi Ed I've been watching you for a couple months now and I have really been getting into astronomy! Me and my little sister have been spending a lot of late nights together watching the stars and getting accustomed to the night sky. I'm thinking about getting my sister a small telescope and this little guy seems perfect, can't wait to keep watching your videos!
October 31st is my birthday! If I'm selected I'd be giving this to my 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter. Loving your channel - thanks for sharing all your insight!!
I took a scope out from my local library and shared the experience with my neighbors 3 young children. They were amazed and excited to see the rings of Saturn. If selected the scope would go to my neighbors so their children can continue to learn and enjoy the night sky.
I found this channel not too long ago. Ed’s videos got me real interested in astronomy. Honestly if I won the telescope, I’d always be taking it out with my family and friends. It gets real dark not far away from where I live. Good luck y’all!!!!
I'm not looking for it (I'm in Colorado for one, and I'm a bit older than youthful at 66), but it's great that you're sending it to a good home. I just searched for your name to comment on an older video, so will when I get there. Clear skies!
This is the perfect first telescope for a young person of 10 to 18. I applaud you Ed for your generosity, especially for throwing in those added accessories. That you'd take the time to travel a significant distance to do this really underscores your kindness. Take care! 👍
Good job Ed for being such an awesome contributor to the hobby. I have enjoyed your videos very much, though I missed this giveaway. I greatly appreciate all you do for your viewers. I should join a club I think! And I’m hoping my kids can enjoy the hobby with me. You give me hope for that!
We'd love to have this for our 6 year old to start him on this journey (mom is an astro gal and would love to initiate our boy ... and dad as well). Thanks for all of your videos. They've encouraged us to delve into astronomy (well ... me ... the wife already knew its wonders).
This is (again) very generous of you, Ed! Thank you. My granddaughters have been asking about my 'space pictures' that I have around from my astrophotography, and I'd love to get them started in exploring space with a simple, easy-to-use scope like this! (Mine are either too complicated for them, or they're hooked up with endless wires and electronics!) Thanks again, Ed! (BTW, I'm nearby in VT so it would be no trouble to pick up the scope).
Ed, you are a good man in addition to being among my three most favorite UA-cam astronomers. The donor’s preference that the telescope goes to a youngster is right in the mark. I got a 3-inch Sears Newtonian when I was ten not long after the launch of Sputnik I. I retired in 2015 from a wonderful 40-year astronomy career. It is entirely plausible that your fostering of this gift will open the door to a young girl or boy toward a rich life as a scientist.
Amen…I Have A 114 LCM,Fully Goto,Just Waiting To Find A Kid To Give It Too,Not The Best Scope In The World,But It Works, and Well Collimated,Theres Just No One Around This Amish Place I Live In
Hello, Ed, and Thank you so much for doing this. My Granddaughter is interested in trying to work for NASA, so in 2017 I picked them up and we drove from Upstate NY to Tennessee to see the Total Eclipse, and there was an Astronomer there who spent a lot of time talking with her. I bought her a Celestron 6" Reflector on a hard to figure out Equatorial Mount. She couldn't figure out the mount options, and I think a Dobsonian mount would greatly help her so she doesn't lose interest. I would LOVE to see here use this to foster her interest whether it turns out to be a hobby or a career. Plus, I don't own a telescope (except a cheap "Hobby Killer" I got years ago) and this would give us a chance to work together to learn how to use these and how to Identify and view objects together. Oh, BTW, since I'm in NY I can drive to New Hampshire to meet you to pick it up.
I gave my celestron c11 to my club in France when i left to live in the UK. I gave a Russian 6 inch to a club near Bergerac and a table top reflector to a school. I still have an Explore scientific 127 but i've no clear skies living in North Wales. You give observation nights to the schools in SW France all through the summer i did it with my club and for the kids.
It's awesome you're always giving back, paying it forward to the astronomy community. I live in California, so I'm not eligible, but I wanted to send some positivity your way.
Hi Ed,I have become a fan of your channel. I wish I had seen your channel years ago before I bought my first telescope, which looking back cost me almost as much as a 6" dobsonian. I have learned a lot from your channel about telescopes and astronomy in general. Thank you. NH is a bit far from where I am, but whoever wins I wish them the best. Wishing you a lot of Clear Skies.
As a 18yr old who loves astronomy I would love to win this scope as I don’t come from a family of money or a trust fund lol. Clear skies to everyone and I wish the best of luck to all! Side-note: How is the winner of the contest actually contacted? Is it via email or something?
Ayy, thanks for doing another giveaway! As a somewhat local youngster, fingers crossed. Your videos are always nice and informative, a great resource for the hobby!
Oh my. Would I love to win this I’m 83 almost 84 yrs old I have always loved looking up at the stars Meteor shower to nite In my earlier yrs I watched the Star gazer Can’t remember his name
I am a teenager , from india , and I am pursuing physics graduation . my only motive is to learn physics and approach to the greatest truth in a materialistic way . I want to persue astrophysics , and yes I am not commenting on greed , rather I am a great admirer of you , for make me learn about telescopes and the optical instruments . I indeed love your videos . I had purchased telescopes for bresser brand 70mm , but returned it , as I could not afford the price . would love to get your comment , Even if someone else (more needy) gets the prize . however , we love your videos
Looking forward to finding out the lucky winner. I just want to add my voice of praise to yourself and the donor for this contest. It's an awesome thing to plant the seeds of discovery in a young child's mind. As a child I was given a telescope as a Christmas present and now looking back on it some 60 years later, I realize it was one of the few things that I still have vivid memories of having and using. What a wonderful gift you are giving, you can't put a price on memories.
Understood. Love your channel. Your videos and scope reviews have rekindled my own passion for astronomy. I'm now working on getting a telescope, but with so many great telescopes to choose from the decision is still swirling in my head!! @@edting
Hi there, can you contact me, eting at aol? Yes it's really me and no I won't ask you for money. If you can respond by 11/20 that would be great. Thanks!
This is my first time seeing you, of course, i know by searching "giveaway telescope" cuz i really really want that stuff. Sorry for being poor by entering the giveaway but wish me luck and thank you~
a youngster .... well it's kinda hard to imagine 6 feet tall man squatting to look through it , certainly with that finderscope :D PS: obviously i wish all the best to the lucky winner.
I've thought about doing that. Is there enough general interest in this scope? I'm also not completely versed in Takahashi lore, even though I own five of their scopes.
@@edting I think they're highly sought after so I thought the public might be interested in hearing about FS-102 and the FC-100 that you have and talk about a lot! it's always a teaser when you mention their names in your videos haha! thanks for always making great content! we appreciate you very much!
I would love to win this for my daughter she loves going out at night with me to find the moon and introduce herself, Im currently building astronomy binolculars but i would love something practical for my daughter to share in the search for the moon and looking at our night sky!
Hi Ed, Gary here in the Berkshires. I used to be in the NHAS, and am still teaching. I would love to have it! I run skywatches at schools in this area so many kids will look through this. Does that count? Thank you for all you do.
I DONT WANT TO ENTER,Way Too Far,But I Hope Some Young Person Gets This Scope…And Someday Becomes An Astronaut..Good Luck.. And Clear Skies

Entered - the boy who lives across the street from me really needs this! :-). His curiosity is just off-the-charts when it comes to astronomy.
I'm in! I am just over the border in Vermont and absolutely do have a young person who would love this!
