"Leave Ash..."
THAT has been the best ever suggestion for that situation they were in.😄👍
In 1979, film audiences were unaware of such horror.
The advertising promo was perfect: “In space, no one can hear you scream.” 😱😱😱
My mother absolutely refused to see this film, based solely on rumors she heard about it. Lol.
@@MsAppassionata .... What were the rumors? You have me all curious now. 😆
@@MsAppassionataI'm curious on the rumors too
@@Stogie2112 About how bloody and horrifying it was. She never liked those types of films. She was strictly old school in that regard.
The biggest mistake the alien made was quickly promote Ripley by killing the only two people senior to her first XD
In case no one has mentioned it already, the original script only mentioned characters by their last name, and Ripley didn't become a female until Signourney Weaver was cast in the role. Weaver's strong presence and flawless acting paved the way for future female action heroes.
Y'all really watching some classic movies y'all need to check out the sequel to this Aliens. Awesome reaction btw ladies hope you two had a great Halloween too
+1 - Aliens is nearly 40 years old, but still awesome.
Both movies still stand up as masterpieces of their different genres after all this time. It’s amazing very little has eclipsed them.
When you're somewhere creepy with a monster, wandering off by yourself is always a good idea.
And then when you narrowly survive you go back and do exactly the same thing a few years later.
@@lewisner Well…more than a few years😊
Your concern for Jonesy the cat was absolutely hilarious. Good reaction indeed.
Great job, good insights :) Now onto Aliens! The best sequel ever made :) I do envy you the "first time"!
Great reaction, and fun banter throughout. When I first watched this film as a kid, I was more worried for the safety of Jonesy than anyone else, haha. 😀
The actors were not told about Canes body exploding scene to get a real reaction from them, which they did!
The point is they don't have any heavy fire weapons on the ship, just the flame-thowers, because they are just a cargo ship, not a military one. That's why it's difficult to get rid of the Alien. It's like fighting a 6 foot long giant cockroach with your bare hands.
Not really, they decided to not penetrate in any way the alien because of the acid that could pierce the ship hull
@@cerenkov6793 No, really. Ridley Scott said the adult Alien was not invincible, but with the proper weapon they didn't have.
@@LightMovies They are not that stupid to shoot an alien after seeing that it as acid as blood that can go trough all the ship layers.
@@LightMoviesthis is the correct answer and why it makes a thrilling sci-fi horror. They don’t have any weapons. They aren’t a military ship.
Um, wouldn't it be like fighting a giant cockroach with a flamethrower? 🤔
A first class reaction ladies! Glad you enjoyed the ride, and remmber"In space no one can hear you scream". 😊
Great reaction Ryl&Jyn, and often funny!
When Ryl said Ripley should be the only survivor, I thought, "PROPHESY!!!"
Even though she was wrong. Jones survived!
Y’all were hip to Ash’s bs from jump. Great review
Love this movie, and I know you’ll love the sequel, it’s just as good! I really enjoy the reactions you two upload, can’t wait for the next one!
Saw this masterpiece as a 14 yr old, in a packed cinema back in 1979. I left traumatised 😂 💚 🇬🇧
SAME. Still one of my absolute fave horror movies, and I love that it holds up so well all these years later.
I was 20 and I saw ALIEN on Saturday May 26, and I left traumatized too!
I was 14 also. when i saw it 2nd out in theaters and the line went around the building. I remember it was a hot day. Most people were expecting a Star Wars type film...i guess they were little surprised.
You're the best movie
Detective, Ryl... So good
Jonesy: They be dyin' I be chillin'
😂😂😂
Jonesy is the only mammal on the ship smart enough to be quiet
I know that the chestburster is the famous shocking bit from the movie, but Ash being a robot absolutely blew my mind when I first watched this
Me too. I was a kid, but he terrified me. Especially when he closed the doors. I remember sneaking down to watch my dad’s copied vhs in the middle of the night. I had many happy nightmares afterwards - totally worth it.
My own fan theory on the alien's fast growth: Some insects can grow many times their original size by ingesting a liquid (blood) so I figured that it evolved to be inflatable (microscopically at the cellular level so it can form any complex shape) and simply ingested water to grow as it's apparently near the leaking cooling system where Brett was taking a "shower". Energy needed could have been built in the organism like a battery, but it quickly ran out while in the shuttle which explains why it just lay there. Or it got barely enough energy from the ship's food supply and again it simply went dormant to re-energize or molt like a snake.
In the novelisation, the Alien breaks into the food storage to eat.
I watch quite a lot of film reactions and I must say your's are the most intuitive by far.
That Jones scene made me distrust cats. He just sat there and let it sneak up on him. Haha.
"They're gonna explore like Dora." Hilarious! But would Dora explore this? Is the real question ?
The underwear in this film is so tiny that it's funny, but it represents the vulnerability of humans in space. She was supposed to be nude, she wanted to be nude, but the studio was worried it would affect affect it's R rating.
That was a fantastic reaction to "Alien". Love this channel. That SHOULD be a cat meme! Jonesy reacting to the alien! 🤣Hey, I've got a great 70s sci-fi movie, it came out the year before "Alien", it was Steven Spielberg's next movie after "Jaws": "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind"! Would LOVE to see your reactions (and your thoughts!) about that one! Thanks again for the super fun "Alien" reaction!
Because in space, nobody can hear you scream great reaction to a classic science, fiction, horror masterpiece
Please watch the sequel! It won't disappoint and it's a great follow up!
I recommend the extended version of Aliens. It adds elements that help explain the movie more . . .
I absolutely loved your reaction. It brought back how I felt when I saw it in theaters in 1979. I was amazed that you were able to figure out what was coming next. Thanks for sharing. At the end are you talking about Alien Covenant. This is a distance sequel to Alien.
Good question
This has always been one of my favorite movies.
Don't forget when this movie was made, the sets, the practical effects and all the models like the ship(s) are great! They all did a great job, also in the 2nd part Aliens. The actor who played Ash did also a great job, when i was looking that movie for the first time i also was wondering the whole time what's wrong with Ash. I hope you look/react the 2nd part ALIENS! The 2nd part is my favorite Alien movie.
Did you know that the actor (Ian Holm) also starred as Bilbo Baggins in “Lord If The Rings”? He was also in “The Fifth Element”, “Brazil”, and “Chariots Of Fire”, among many other films. Unfortunately, he died 3 years ago.
The whole alien series is just movie after movie of people ignoring the smart cat lady.
The best Truckers In Space film made...but I would never go back for the ship's cat when there is an eight-foot acid-spitting alien after me.
I’ve grown to really love your reactions, ladies. Quickly becoming one of my favorites. Thanks for such enjoyable reactions!
Folks often forget that the hauling vessel is towing a fully automated ore refinery. When Brett went looking for Jones in the factory condensation on the equipment was dripping down. It's safe because it's distilled.
Jonsie the cat had that look of “Better you than me hooman”. 😼
You guys need to checkout Aliens Awesome
The cat not going into stasis is actualy the plot of Red Dwarf. 2:45 Its similar to ships on sea, you are obligated to respond to sos signal.
Of all the reactions, greatest line: “is Kane dead?” It’s only a flesh wound!!😂
The xenomorph was actually napping in the shuttle when Ripley was startled by its arm.
The sequel (Aliens) is a continuation of the first movie. It picks up right where the first one stops. Sigourney Weaver (Ripley) is in the second movie too.
No it doesn't.
@@firstenforemostyes it does. She goes into hyper sleep and picks up when she gets back.
Haha “it’s in the contract… to die.” I love that.
38:00 - you’re exactly right, the alien was blocking her path to the escape shuttle, so her only option was to try and disable the self-destruct so that she would have more time to reach the escape shuttle.
Great reaction ladies!
I would love for you both to react to the sequel: Aliens. It’s more of an action movie, but a damn good one.
If you are going to watch it, please try to watch the directors cut as it adds only a small amount of time to the movie but gives some very important backstory.
The rest of the series just bad unfortunately.
There was no egg left on the shuttle and she and Jonesy make it back to Earth. That is how Aliens begins. Just something to let you know that Aliens pretty much picks up where Alien left off. I am sure you will like ALIENS.
the way it lays there in the shuttle so long, slithering its hand gently.. i can only assume it was wanting to have a sleepover with jonesy
Yep. The xenomorph had a big day and wanted to snuggle.
Haha
GREAT REACTION!
Alien is best film of the series imo as much as I like Aliens and it's a great sequel nothing beats the eeriness of the first.
Agreed. I think the reactors will like the 1st film more as Aliens is more of an action film and they appear to prefer horror from what I've seen. I'm sure they will like Ripley's journey in the 2nd film though.
45 years ago. No terrible CGI. Yes, the stomach puppet is bad, but the rest is FANTASTIC.
2:35 "This is a _commercial_ ship, not a... rescue ship."
I'm with this guy. In _modern_ times, we have _several_ types of sea vessels. Commercial ships are freighters and _tankers._ Rescue ships are ships commissioned and operated by the world's various coast guards and _navies._
Of course, if you're dealing with the unknown, that sounds more like the job of a _research_ vessel; something presided over by _oceanographers._
Commercial ships, rescue ships and exploration craft are three _very_ different types of ships crewed by _very_ different types of people, trained very _differently._ It's the _height_ of improper to assign _one_ of these a mission best suited to one of the _others._
Now, here we are, centuries in the _future._ Don't tell me this has _changed._
This movie was eye opening at the time. We have in our minds possibilities of alien species, first contacts, UFOs, a bit of blinders on. This movie shows another kind of alien that we never allowed ourselves to think about, but the lesson is of upmost importance. Scary stuff could of evolved on other planetoids all over the galaxy. Just recent brings to mind they just brought asteroid fragments/small rocks collected from out there back here on Earth from a mission. QUARANTINE, QUARANTINE, QUARANTINE.
Lots of older movies were about bad alien encounters.
This movie "modernised" space as a work place, and what would it look like.
All very unsexy and full of protocols like working in a mine site etc.
@@Cheepchipsable you are very right. The 40s to 50s sci-fi did show us monsters of all kinds.
SO glad you guys did this one, and I enjoyed how you talked just enough to give a break from the film, but didn't overpower it with too much commentary. I'm sure youtube is a tricky thing to navigate with copyright, but ty for doing it. 10/10 and a new subscriber in me.
This is my favorite movie.. ive watched it so many times.. good reaction
lmao, it's funny for those of us who have seen it 100 times and know exactly where you guys will jump lmao 🙂 both looking beautiful as always 🙂
Don't forget to get the "special edition/director's cut" for its sequel Aliens (1986) which is even better ;)
Meh, directors cut of 2 is not great, cuz it deflates the tension by showing the family scene, IMO. The mystery is preserved by not showing Newt before they arrive. The theatrical of 2 is much better, I think. But Alien 3 extended cut is great cuz it takes a mediocre movie and makes it actually great. IMO .
@@rexmundi2986 THANK YOU. As someone who was there in '86, the movie that became an instant classic is the theatrical version. This current trend of believing that a movie is improved by adding a pile of comics-geek plot, exposition and explanation is anti-cinema. That said, it sounds like the opposite is true of Alien3. Gotta see that extended cut.
@@lanolinlightDidn’t know they had another version of Aliens 3. I will definitely check it out.
The actor who plays Ash also plays Bilbo in Lord of the Rings.
Bilbo is dodgy AF as well.
Two young modern viewers are boarding the "Nostromo." What will they make of this "old, long, slow-moving, character-centered, no-DFX" movie? The Company is making the equivalent of a freighter crew to "do science" on an unexplored planet! 6:59 The Space Jockey, a mystery for decades. 9:44 Second Officer Kane = Zapp Brannigan. 10:46 How's THAT for a jump scare? 11:17 This conversation has become iconic due to recent events. 12:30 The Face Hugger, grossing out audiences for decades. 13:04 You're watching Special Edition version with footage not seen in 1979. 14:38 Acid Blood is why they can't just cut/blow it off Kane's face. 18:41 A props dept. work of ART, made of sea animals. 20:38 Kane's last meal. 21:26 The Xenomorph, scaring audiences for over 40 years. 22:45 Along came Jones. 24:00 Say hello to Bolaji Badejo. 27:34 You're in command now, Ripley! 29:56 In 1979, this was my "WTF? Ash ISN'T Human!?" moment. 31:21 most didn't see this coming. 36:18 Another scene not seen in 1979. 37:10 Escape route cut off, stop Destruct to gain time for Plan B. 40:10 Tonight's entree on the Shuttle "Narcissus" is Steamed Xenomorph in Shell. 40:43 Correction, Char-Broiled Xenomorph. This and the next movie made newcomer Sigourney Weaver a major movie star. Along with Linda Hamilton of "The Terminator" (1984), they became Action movie badasses. "Jennifer Lawrence"? Who is that?
The "robot" at the beginning was just a space helmet. The ship stopped because of the signal and woke them all up to investigate, the company has no knowledge of the signal or alien but clearly programed the computer (Mother) and Ash that if they ever come across any alien life/artifacts that the company could exploit that would be more important than the ore that was mined or the lives of the crew. Ash almost certainly knew that the face-hugger had implanted something in Kane which is why he turned the monitor off when Ripley came in the room. You should for sure watch Aliens, I recommend extended cut but theatrical is fine too. A lot of ppl will tell you to stop there but Alien³ extended edition is much better than the original and is pretty interesting and had some great actors in it, and Alien Resurrection (Alien 4) is an underrated classic written by Joss Whedon (Buffy/Firefly/The Avengers).
Actually the company has known about the aliens for decades
@technofilejr3401 That's as maybe, but they didn't know that xenomorphs were specifically on LV-426. If they did, they would have sent a more suitable ship and crew and the events of Aliens wouldn't make any sense.
Finally! Someone who doesn't want to gatekeep the third and fourth films!
They are far better movies than most people would have you believe, but yeah, it *has* to be the Assembly Cut of Alien 3, the theatrical doesn't properly make sense.
@@cyberleadr - Yes, they DID know that "something" was on LV-426. They'd already deciphered the warning signal. That's why the Nostromo's regular science officer was replaced with Ash, just days before they departed from Earth. He was assigned to collect the whatever-it-was and bring it back.
@@cyberleadr - As for "they would have sent a more suitable ship and crew and the events of Aliens wouldn't make any sense", why are you assuming the whole company was involved? Maybe it was simply one opportunistic company exec, hoping to make a fortune.. and so trying to operate below the company radar.. just like Burke did in Aliens. Diverting a freighter would be far less likely to be noticed by his bosses, than sending a properly equipped expedition. That would also explain why the company as a whole was unaware of any potential dangers on LV-426, in the sequel.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with Ash. He’s disconnected…” Not as disconnected as he ought to be. 😂😂😂😂
if you notice when lambert dies she does not wear the trainers she wears cowboy boots , they done a switch a roo as brett trainers were used when he died , i watched the film since 1979 500 times or more i know from my back of my hand
best to watch it with very low light to get the atmosphere of being one of the crew.
watch aliens part 2 directors cut
Yesssss I was waiting for this one
You watched the Directors Cut. The Cocoon, 'nest', sequence isn't in the original theatrical cut. The Directors Cut is actually 1 minute shorter than the theatrical cut and some scenes were trimmed down to 'make room' for the cocoon sequence.
😁👍✌️
The dead thing you saw sitting in the alien ship is known as an Engineer which played a role in the origins of the xenomorph.
Just learned you beautiful ladies are in Jamaica! I said before I NEED to sit between you and share movies, but now we be sharing salt fish and ackee too....
I think that it did not attack, because he knew it was locked inside of the shuttle. Since it was waiting there, I think it was waiting for Ripley to open the door again once it was open at Ripley, and taking it to where the other bodywork.
And it didn't know how to pilot the shuttle.
The most badass female image in film history: Ripley with a flame thrower in one hand & a cat carrier in the other! 😂❤
24:11 "back up Jonesy! save yourself!" -jyn
😺😆
I love how concerned u r about the cat lol
You ladies should be super heroes. Nothing bothers you. You don’t appear to get scared. The most chill women in the universe.
What would your powers be? And, cape or no cape? lol
I love watching with you. 🥰
Trust God.. 🙏
Jyn’s superpower would be super strength and speed and Ryl would be mind reading and clairvoyance, and somewhat like Jean (X-men) no cape… cuz we don’t want to get dragged or caught in anything 😂😅.
@@JynxRyl Sounds great. I would like powers like both of you chose.. just call me OP! lol But I am not as chill as you, that’s why I need the extra powers.
Good choice on no cape. Did you get that from The Incredibles?
🥰 luv you ladies, thanks for the unexpected response, very kind.
@@scottallen6160 lol yes the incredibles 😂 learned from that
=8-D Great reaction!! Jyn & Ryl , you two had me "in" with the movie! =;-D
26:12 Yeah she really is. I’m really psyched to see your reaction to the sequel, I’m turning on notifications for this channel (which I pretty much never do for any channel) because I’m so psyched for it. There are other sequels but Aliens is the best film in the franchise. I still remember the first time I saw it, when I was like 12.
Amazing reaction girls. Hope you both gonna react to Aliens aswell, it´s way more action packed.😎
The movie you were talking about the end is Alien Covenant, it is a prequel to this movie, this movie came out first and in the prequels they were going to work up to how the bad robot David got the big ship with all the eggs crashed on the planet they explore in this movie.
21:43
For some reason everyone seems to forget it has acid blood. If they stab it, they might melt all the way through the hull.
Awesome reaction as usual!!!
I hope you watch the "Special Edition" of the next 3 Alien movies( Aliens, Alien 3, Alien resurrection).
Then first 3 Predator movies, and Alien vs Predator.
The Alien movie you saw and was describing sounds like the 6th movie in the Alien franchise called Alien: Covenant.
Can't wait to see Aliens! Its my favorite movie.
Sigourney Weaver's "Ripley" is one of the best, most bad-ass heroes of the horror/sci-fi genre.
Saw and Alien are my two favorite scary movie franchises 😎
37:50 - the reason she's trying to turn off the self destruct is because the Alien is in the way to the shuttle - it's blocking her path. It was crouching down to get through the door when it saw her. She's now trapped on a ship that's about to blow up so she turns back to cancel the destruct, but misses it by 3 seconds. At this stage she has 5 minutes and MUST get past the alien.
Very good reaction.
Great reaction. And excellent job on sensing that Ash wasn't quite right. 🙂👍
Only Kane ,Ripley, Dallas, and to extent, Lambert had training. It's a commercial vehicle, a tow truck in space.
Great reaction. You are very knowledgeable about the actors, plots, etc. Trivia: remember the movie The Green Mile? Remember Toots, "walking the mile, walking the Green Mile, the rehearsal? Did you see him in this movie😅 in case you missed it, Right. rayray ✊✌️🤙👍
If you watch the sequel ALIENS (which you definitely should), watch the SPECIAL EDITION like you did for this one. Enjoy!
Is she not describing Prometheus at the end? Which is a prequel to these movies. Haha
I think the reason it didn’t attack her right away on the shuttle is because it was getting old and tired. Reg xenomorphs probably grow and die fast, and this one created 2 eggs on top of that.
The movie with the good android and the bad android is Alien: Covenant, which is a sequel to Prometheus and a prequel to Alien.
You were describing Alien: Covenant at the end of this video. To get a better understanding of the Alien, I highly recommend watching the following films in the order of their release date.

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), Directed by The Brothers Strause
PREQUEL TO ALIEN

Alien: Covenant (2017), Directed by Ridley Scott
34:45 Jones is trying to get away from those noisy humans
the movie you're talking about at the end is Alien: Covenant...which is a prequel to this movie
You need to watch this stuff in the dark like they did in the theaters you have to remember that people didn’t have 50 60 70 80 inch TVs. Additionally, I did have the full alien package, and that even went so far as to interview the guy that designed the alien and that chair thing, and he actually would sit in that thing and go to sleep in it.
21:36 "I'm tired of this Ash guy. He's makin' me mad."
Ah. Good. You've begun to pick up on his _character._ He fills much the same role for _this_ movie that Mayor Vaughn filled in _Jaws._ As I recall, when _I_ first saw this movie, I didn't manage to do it quite so _soon._
Y'all need to watch the Sequel. Its one of best Sequels of all time. Since you both have already seen Prometheus which is a prequel to Alien, you are actually watching these films in chronological order
The perfect review of this film: "Alien is a movie where nobody listens to the smart woman, and then they all die except for the smart woman and her cat. Four stars."
ALIEN: COVENANT!!! It was Alien: Covenant, the second prequel to this one. Also, love your reactions, especially to great movies like this.
Dropping SpongeBob and Dora comments were the icing on the cake for me.
Always a pleasure,:).
You guys will love ALIENS
After the crew of the Nostromo make so many mistakes, things get much more organised... It doesn't help!
I always say best thing about this flick, companies gonna send us out there with old tech to save a dollar. The cat is true hero. He got kicked down the stairs in real life.
Ripley is so handsome ❤
She’s beautiful imo
@@sc1338 Agreed.
First one awake, first one dead!!
Also, does anyone hear how Ash's voice sounds different from everyone else's, from the beginning?
