So very helpful - thank you Dave! The manual that came with the Elizabeth I purchased incorrectly states pressing 1 and 2 together starts the auto-backflush operation. It’s hold 1 and then the hot water, thank you again for making this clear!
Great and simple advice. Thanks Dave. I did this after I noticed my Elizabeth show only one led light, the single shot light, and it’s back to normal. I assume that was the alert the machine gives?

@davecorbey About to put this machine into storage while I move house. Done a full backlash and detailed the machine to make sure its ok over the next 3 months. What's your thought about the water sitting in the steam and brew boilers for this amount of time ?
It will be OK just flush it as if it's a new machine, you can also get a lot of water out of the boilers. I did some sway documents about all this, best have a read. The document in the link is the review, go to the end of that and there's 2 more links to programming and maintenance and pro tips. sway.office.com/YUuIpMmQlYAFkxIO?ref=Link
Hi Dave. Thanks for this, it’s really useful. I’m curious re the advice not to backflush an E61 group head too frequently - this feels quite different to other videos I’ve watched on UA-cam where it’s advised that (chemical) backflush is done quite regularly, once a week. Where does the difference in opinion come from do you think? And does your recommendation apply to clean water backflush too or just the chemical kind? And finally, regarding the shower screen weekly clean as a better alternative for E61 group heads, can these get damaged if they are taken out (poking around) and cleaned so regularly? Thanks.
You won't damage the shower screen dropping it every few days in this or an E61 machine. You can backflush an E61 as often as you like but be prepared to take the cam out and lubricate it+ the spindle every time you do! ua-cam.com/video/CajVhArzDNY/v-deo.html You can clean water backflush as often as you want.
Hi Dave, I have a question. Do you descale your Elizabeth? The manual explicitly says not to put descaling fluid in the water tank, but there is also an official video from LELIT online showing descaling of the Elizabeth. Thanks.
I don't personally descale mine because I use Reverse Osmosis (RO) water from an Osmio Zero, with a smidge of sodium bicarb, and it doesn't form scale. If you want a procedure for descaling, check out my review page and open the maintenance and pro tips ( ms sway link). It works on a PC or smartphone. coffeeequipmentreviews.wordpress.com/2020/05/08/lelit-elizabeth/
@@DaveCorbey thanks for the reply Dave. I’ve been reading a lot of your material - very helpful. One follow up question - do you still use the resin filter in the water tank when running your RO system? (I presume not, but just wanted to double check).
I don't know if you read the review, this video is just one of the many videos in the written review on my review site. There is a function that allows the steam boiler to be completely drained and the brew boiler to be partially drained (I call it the HWM system (Hot water Maximiser). It's how you can get 650 ml of boiling water from a boiler only holding 420 ml. I did a maintenance sway for that, I also did an specific LCC guide sway as well. There are links in my review but here they are to save you time.. the first one is the maintenance sway which contains the information you need and the second link a handy guide to basic and advanced LCC functions. the 3rd link is to my review. sway.office.com/qoXHjmMAg4DeFX8b sway.office.com/S5J4d9Jp4Y9LdVFx coffeeequipmentreviews.wordpress.com/2020/05/08/lelit-elizabeth/
Hello Dave. I'm a new owner of the Elisabeth. I noticed that the brew pressure of my machine is always around 8 bar when I'm pulling a shot. Just at the beginning of the green area on the manometer. This happens with three different beans I used so far. I usually pull a double shot with 17 g and get my ~42 g espresso out of it. This is my first machine, so I'm not experienced at all. Is the pressure high "enough" or should it be higher? Btw: thank you for all your videos, they helped a lot!
@@maxb.8778 Always contact the dealer first...the pressure is very easy to adjust on the new Elizabeth, but if you are still under warranty, always contact the dealer.
@@DaveCorbey I received an interesting answer from the dealer: "Good day, no, everything is correct. In the newer models, the expansion valve is preset to 8 bar at the factory. It used to be different. The procedure runs through to the 41EM entry-level model, where the maximum pressure is now also preset to 8 bar." (Translated by Google). My model was built in November 2020.

Why did the temperature drop so much? Up to 79-80C
Cold water into the brew boiler and sensor positioning... It soon comes back up again, but not too quickly because it's a small boiler and we don't want overshoots.
always use phospate free detergent its safer for humans + rubber seals other ones detoriate rubber & it becomes an expensive repair $ & supposed wait upto 15min in backflush than flush a bunch of times 50sec is tooo short not enough time to dissolve gums oils generated from beans
3 years on and your videos are still extremely relevant and helpful, thank you!

Glad it helped
Pressing 1st and 2nd button does a one-run backflush cycle. Pressing 1st and 3rd does a multi-run backflush clean cycle.
But it probably doesn't let the cleaner do its job because the flush cycles are only like 10 seconds apart.

also thanks for the video … what about put back the stand by modus?
It's in my sways (online guides) I produced for the machine. They work great on a smartphone as well. sway.cloud.microsoft/YUuIpMmQlYAFkxIO?ref=Link
Try 1. and the 3. buttons

I have some Breville cleaning tablets for Breville espresso machine..will they work with the Elizabeth for backflushing ?
I don't think so...they might, but I use Puly caf, it's cheap and a big tub will last you for ever.
It's the top and bottom buttons on an Elizabeth

If you test it with a blind filter it should be higher....if it is, when using coffee, you need to grind finer....
@@DaveCorbey hmm, it doesn't go higher. It stays around 8 bar. Is there a way to adjust the pressure, or should I contact the dealer of the machine?
