- I figured this was a good place to start! Here is a quick walkthrough of The James Method Verse mapping journal.
Journal and other study supplies available at www.thejamesmethod.com
Wow thanks for recommending the 1828 dictionary! I used it when I homeschooled my kids (decades ago) and dug through boxes till I found it! It’s an amazing resource!!
Brand new to verse mapping at 72 years of living so far & excited to get started ! 🙌
Oh my goodness we are so excited for you!! Let us know if you have any questions at all and happy mapping!
This was a helpful breakdown! Thank you so much! I especially appreciate that you mentioned sometimes you spend a week on one map. 😊🙏🏽
Of course! We are so happy it was helpful!
I actually appreciate the intimacy that this study allows me to have with God’s word
Aw we love hearing that Paula thanks for sharing!
I just bought a journal, b/c I was looking for another way to enhance my scripture study. So far I love how simple this journal is. I like having another place to jot down my thoughts and breakdown verses that jump out at me. So thank you for creating this journal.
Thank you so much for stopping by to let us know that! We’re really thankful to hear you’re enjoying it and we’re sending a prayer it continues to be fruitful and meaningful for you! Please feel free to tag us in anything you create that you want to share with us! 🤗
I am so happy I came across this on my Facebook page. I purchased this and am looking forward to digging deeper in the word. Thank you!
Oh my goodness Hurray! We're so glad to hear that! What verses are you looking into mapping first?:)
Why aren't more men into this? I love Mind Mapping for notes etc. The journal looks solid. Quiet time and creativity are good for the soul. This forces one to really dig deep and fully understand a verse. Please make a manly version so I don't get clobbered. JK. I think I'm going to try it anyway. Found the website. Gonna get a hardback journal next week. Thx.
This is so good to read, thank you for sharing! We actually have a more masculine version we will be restocking very soon!! It can be found here once we restock: www.thejamesmethod.com/products/faux-leather-verse-map-journal And you’re definitely not alone, we know a lot of men who enjoy theirs, but you’re right, we’d love to see more men mapping too!
Also, would you be willing to let us use this comment and just your first name for a video we'd like to create to help encourage men to check out mapping? No pressure of course, but we really appreciated your comment!
Thank you so much for explaining this. I have the digital copy and am on my second Scripture thus far. The View of GOD stumped me until I saw this video. I didn't even attempt to do it with the First Scripture. Now I can go back and take my time. I love The James Method. I am learning so much. THANK YOU.
We are so excited you’re joining in! Welcome :) That part stumps more people than you’d think, so you’re not alone! But we’re glad you figured it out and feel free to ask questions! Praying for you!
Yay! I have the digital version/copy as well!! I imported it into Samsung Notes and JNotes so that I can write in it!!
Do you have a link to the digital version or did you create your own?
I keep waiting for more you tube videos from you :) you mentioned sharing Bible tools as well that you use. Expanding upon them. Would love more from this channel :)
Hi Stephanie! We’re excited you’ve been interested! We’ll be uploading one of those videos too! We also have a Mounce’s tutorial and “what to bring when you study on the go” now as well:)
Thank you for the demonstration!! Now i can share this link with my Mom! Yay!!
We’re so glad! Happy mapping 😊😊
@@thejamesmethod this tool is very good addictive one. I also found step by step series! Thank you for doing them!!!
This is gold...thank you!
We're so glad it is helpful! If you're mapping through anything and have any comments to share or questions to ask, let us know:)
I was nervous to start. This was really helpful, thank you for sharing 😊
We're so glad to hear that! :) Let us know if you have any questions!
The best cross reference Bible to me is the Thompson-Chain Reference Bible. It’s a little pricey but it’s so worth it. I purchased my James Method Verse mapping journals, a great tool in helping the believer delve into the Word of God!
Yes that's a good one! And we are so glad to hear it! We love being able to create tools that will help believers dive into God's word more! Blessings!:)
Thank you! Have gained several insights that will help me. Now to put (or push) the perfectionist side away from my thoughts lol.
Woot Woot!!! You can do this!!
If you like an explanation on why some verses were translated the way they are you should get a NET full notes Bible. On a lot of verses and words it gives you what they are in HEB/Greek and why the different translations used what words they chose.
Yes! I have that Bible. I bought it just for the 'translator's notes'. It's very interesting!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for that suggestion! I was reading into the NET Bible the other day and was interested to see that it is similar to the NASB in that it is pulled from the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts, but at more of a middle school reading level for English, which is a really neat way to have Scripture pulled together! Thanks for sharing this.
You can also access all the maps and article references here as well if you're inclined:) netbible.org/bible/Philippians+1
Just hit my books and am excited!
We're so excited for you too! Do you have any questions?
Thank you for the detailed information. I have the digital version and need to begin now!!
We're so glad it was encouraging for you! The digital verse is great:)! Feel free to ask any questions as you have them and check out our "Verse Mapping 101" on our website if you haven't already for more resources:)
Would love to have a journal! They sell out so fast!!
They last batch sold out in record time! But we are getting ready to restock. The shipment just arrived🙌🏻
@@thejamesmethod hi where i can by one?
@@thejamesmethod when is the next release? Just found you all and I’m loving this!!!
So proud of you!!
Thanks Sarah! Same to you!
Just found you and so happy I did!
We are so happy you did too! Have you tried mapping? :)
Thank you, I bought the digital book last night. I cant wait to get started.
Yay! How's the process going :)?
I would love this book as I can't print anything out and handwriting everything accerbates my Carpal Tunnel but I can't afford it.
@@teresafinney4837 Thanks for sharing that Teresa, we're sorry to hear about your carpel tunnel and are saying a prayer for you right now for healing💗🙏
We have a digital version which is less expensive and can be used on a computer so that you could type instead of handwriting on it. No pressure but wanted you to know about the digital options here: www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/digital-products
I love to do verse mapping! Your journals are so nice! I don't have one, but they look lovely.💖
Thank you so much! We appreciate you saying that :)

We are so glad it was helpful! Feel free to share/comment any other questions you may have!
Love it!! Always good information.
Thank you Karen!
I just turned 64 and never done this before so finding the start a bit intimidating. Have you developed a list of verses for the beginner to start with?
Hi there Kathy! We're so excited you're interested in it and welcome! We have a series on how to choose a verse to map here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsxdoDH7kdnkM but we also gift a verse mapping plan with the digital/printable version of the journal. Our verse mapping plans if you're interested are found here: www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/verse-mapping-plans
Thank you. Your video was very helpful. I’m going to try that first.
I would love to go digital with this and the word study.
Great idea! Have you tried it?:)
@@thejamesmethod not a digital download as I already have that. A totally digital app for iPad.
@@tamjambones Hey there! What a neat concept! We might have to look into that! :) Thanks for the feedback idea!
Keep hope alive and truth told. God is here for all of us when translated text is used to a negative impact and adjusted with a highlighted message it is very offensive. But the ones that are helping us understand more please continue to be positive.🙏
Amen sister, we do our very best to make sure what we share encourages, edified and occasionally exhorts the body of Christ.
I think this is a good way to go deeper into scripture. I'd like to point out a couple of things. First, if you're using a modern translation, which everyone except King James users probably are, then I would recommend using a modern dictionary. The English language has changed over time, and the 1828 Webster dictionary is probably out of date on a number of words. Probably not all words, maybe not a significant amount of words, but why risk it? Secondly, having taken Hebrew and Greek, I would caution anyone unfamiliar with the tools or languages. It can be easy to assume a meaning that the context doesn't imply or even allow for. The lexicons do a good job of listing verses, but I don't think they can be exhaustive, except for words that aren't used too often. If in doubt, find a Hebrew or Greek professor and ask. Again, this does look like a great way to dive into the scriptures.
The Blue Letter bible has Hebrew and Greek word translation so that's one tool that can be used
@@jaycee157 true, but again, I need to caution people using a tool without knowledge of a language. D. A. Carson's "Exegetical Fallacies, 2nd Edition" would be good for folks to have an idea of what to watch out for.
Thank you for checking it out! We like the 1828 dictionary for its ties to Scriptural references :) And yes the more understanding the better when it comes to studying within other languages. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!!
Do you use a hardback maps reference? I’m a visual person too and love to see where they were located geographically, learn about their customs/culture at that time, etc. thanks! Excited about the restock and hoping to get my hands on it all soon!
Hey there! Do you mean physical maps?:) If so sometimes! It’s so rich to understand where things are! And we are so excited too! I hope you were able to find everything you were looking for! 😀
Thank you Lauren for helping learn more about God thru verse mapping. This method as taught me a lot. Greatly appreciated.✨💖✨
Thank YOU for always being so supportive! You've been around from the very beginning, my friend💗
Just purchased the mapping PDF and looking forward to getting started. I have a question on the black pen you used on this example. Also, are the color ones from your shop?
If you mean the one we used for the banner I believe it was a pentel brush pen:) As for the colored ones they are the vintage gel pens on our side:) Which are on sale for people signed up for our email list if you're interested! :)
@thejamesmethod Thank you for your response. The black pen I was asking about is the one you used to do the text writing.
Going to go grab the color pens from your site now😊 or are the pens you talked about those pens. Also, I was wondering what you used to do the colors in the word circles? Is it the same pens or a highlighter of some sort
I use a very similar method to study the word of God. Thank you for this video. I also want to tell you that when you point with your index finger and small finger at the same time looks like a hand sign that satanic people use.
Thanks for checking it out we're so glad it's helpful! Also I've never heard of that last bit before it's definitely not intentional (obviously :D)!
This was so helpful; thank you. It is sold out on the website. Do you know when it will be back?
We're so glad to hear that!! We are getting a new shipment in about a month and we can't wait! We also have a less expensive digital option if you'd like to try it ahead of time :)
If you would teach me how to use this Brown-Driver-Briggs-Gesenius-Hebrew-English Lexicon I order used from Amazon, I sure would be grateful! Looking forward to receiving the study kit I pre-ordered!
Hi there! That's a good idea! How are you finding using it these days? Also, how did you enjoy the kit?:)
all one needs to do a great bible study is a pencil, paper and a dictionary. don't make it harder than it needs to be. lexicons make you the final authority, not God because you get to choose what ever meaning you want instead of the word God chose to be in the bible.
Just got mine today and was not expecting it to be so huge. I already paid for the printable sheets and had been using those but decided to purchase a journal for something more compact. That was a mistake! 😬 any plans to release this method in something that is actually journal sized?
Hey there! We appreciate the feedback:) We actually do have a smaller version which you can find here: www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/verse-mapping-journals/products/faux-leather-verse-map-journal The reason we keep it larger is so that there is plenty of space to write :) But also if you are interested in returning it, please reach out to our team on the website chat or our service email!
@@thejamesmethod thanks! I didn’t even think to look at those before cuz I’m not a man!🤦🏻♀️
@@FootSoldier66 oh my goodness no worries, we're actually really glad you said something about that!
Where do you get the Scripture you are going to study? Do you just pick one God has laid on or heart? Or is there something to follow?
Great question! We have a series on videos on how to choose a verse, ua-cam.com/users/shortsxdoDH7kdnkM here is the first one! We also have verse mapping plans as well!
Hi I recently got one and I can’t wait to start but do I just do my own verses?
Or should I say pick my own verses?
Hello! Welcome! We're so glad you've started! You do pick your own verses, but we have verse mapping plans if you're interested (under verse mapping plans on the website) and also we have a four part video series here on how to choose a verse to map :) Last tip on that, if you have any verses that have been particularly meaningful in your walk with God, those are great places to start:) Let us know if you have any other questions! We're here for you!
Thank you for this. I was wondering if verse mapping was ONE verse at a time or can it be multiple verses. I was thinking only ONE at a time initially just for space sake but I see in this video, you did two verses...John 1:12-13.
Hi Crystal! Yes:) We're glad you saw this! You can definitely do more than one, some verses are even short enough to do three, but it's about having enough space to really dive into the words and meanings, which usually is 1-2 :)
@@thejamesmethod Thank you for responding and confirming!!❤️ It's all about the space!!😁
Also, you encouraged me as well because I am a big "rabbit hole" person!! So with you saying that you may spend a week on a verse, was also encouraging!! #ItIsNotARush 😊
@@Ms.Cris421 Yes! it is about allowing the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and sometimes that means we spend more or less time on some verses and that is welcomed!
@@thejamesmethod Absolutely!!😍❤️
If one has never studied the Bible or verse mapping, is it hard to do for a newbie?
Hi Nancy! Great question! We're so glad you asked! It is simple as you follow the steps laid out, and it definitely gets more intuitive and sweeter the more you do it! The first map is always the most challenging to try and then it gets easier after that:) Here is a link to a blog Lauren wrote which details the process and maybe it'll give you a little more insight into it! Let us know if you have any other questions! www.thejamesmethod.com/pages/verse-mapping-for-beginners
How do you pick your words from your chosen verse? I’m thinking of using Jesus calling for my verses that speak to me.
Great question and idea Pam! Here is the first video on how to choose, we have a series of four videos here ua-cam.com/users/shortsxdoDH7kdnkM and we also have verse mapping plans on our website too!:)
Hello, I just checked out the website but a lot of the items are out of stock. Any update when they’re coming back in stock like for example, the stamps, and the SPIRAL VERSE MAP JOURNAL? Thank you 🙏🏾

Hey there! We actually do have a version for men! It's in our shop under journals the leather verse map journal! We hope you enjoy it! Here is the link: www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/journals/products/faux-leather-verse-map-journal
How do you map with the bible binder
Hi there Julia! The Verse Map Journal is where you map:) the Bible Binder is for more broad book-by-book studying instead of verse- by-verse :) I hope that helps?
Hi. Can you please link your physical copy of the Webster 1828 dictionary? Thanks!

Why 1828?
Great question! We like this one since it references scripture a lot in it:) But any dictionary works! And www.blueletterbible.org will give you the Greek and Hebrew definitions of the words as well:)
How long do you typically spend on one verse mapping map?
Hi! It really just depends but I’d say my average pace is around one week per map
I paused the video and read all the stuff that it told you to do on the instruction page. How can I get that Journal? Do I HAVE to order it on the Internet, or can I buy it at my local Christan Bookstore? (or even order it from the bookstore, where I can actually pay for it)
Hey there Krista! Thank you so much for stopping by and checking it out! We don't have them in stores (yet! but keep your eyes out for our announcements 🤗). We have a few different options to purchase items on our online store if there is any concern there, please reach out and let us know!
@@thejamesmethod Do you have a printable with this on it that I could print out (the exact instruction page)?
Great question! We do :) Here is a link to our digital/printable content:): www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/digital-products
I went to the library today and tried printing out the sample page for verse mapping (the blank page with all the circles), and it wouldn't let me. I've tried numerous different ways, and the librarian told me that I couldn't do it cause it you put a lock on it (or something like that), because you wanted people to buy it. I don't work and I only get money once a month (besides, I don't have any credit cards and would even know HOW to do it)
Hi again. If I can't print out the sample page (I was hoping to print out at least 15 sheets), but if I can't print it out; how much is the Journal? and can I have the link for it? Maybe I can find someone with credit card who'll get for me
Good morning, I ordered the PDF $12.99 PRINTABLE.
are there instructions that c9me with it ,so I can print them off. I too am a visual learner.
Thank you so much.

Does it matter where you start in the Bible? Like if I am reading through the New Testament, can I start there? I know Bible mapping takes longer than reading, I’m just wondering where to start in my Bible!
This is a wonderful question Tracey! We recommend folding it into Bible study. For example, if you're currently reading through the NT (which is wonderful to do!) then we'd recommend continuing to read through the Scriptures using the plan, and finding verses you'd like to dive into further and study at a slower, more intentional pace (in conjunction with reading the Scriptures). I hope that makes sense? We also have a whole series on choosing a verse to map here: www.youtube.com/@thejamesmethod/playlists
I just received my copy and wonder are you getting verses through a study you’re doing ?
Welcome Jodie! Lauren has plans you can go through on the website at www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/verse-mapping-plans and we send out a weekly memory verse each week to our email community! We hope you’ll join in! We’re currently going through the Grace Upon Grace study if you want to join!
How do you pick the verse?
Great question! We have a whole series on this, here is the first one (the rest are on our page) ua-cam.com/users/shortsxdoDH7kdnkM :)
I am struggling with where to start? What order do I go? Do you have something to help with that
Hi Christina! We're so glad you asked! Please check out www.thejamesmethod.com/pages/verse-mapping-for-beginners where Lauren has a good in-depth description of the process:) We also have a whole section of verse mapping plans if you want a little more help walking through the process of mapping here: www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/verse-mapping-plans I hope this helps, but if not, ask another question and we'll be happy to help!
What do you do with the numbers for the words you define?
Hey Carrie! Great question! These numbers are the Strong's numbers associated with the original Hebrew and Greek texts! If you head over to our blog post on verse mapping for beginners we explain it in more depth :) Let us know if you have any other questions :) www.thejamesmethod.com/pages/verse-mapping-for-beginners
Where can I purchase the journal?
Hi Rachael! Great question, we have them on our shop at www.thejamesmethod.com/collections/journals :)
Where is this journal available for purchase?
We're excited you're interested! It's on our website through the link in our profile:)
In the esword app is there only one version, KJV, with Strong's concordance? If I use a different version, How do I use Strong's concordance for my word study and to do word study in my other translations I write down? Also, in Bible Hub, I seem to only be able to find NASB strong's concordance. Am I missing something in both apps?? How are you able to do your word study in multiple versions?
Hi Christina! Great question! As far as I'm aware, the Strong's concordance system was originally built using the KJV (since that was the main Bible at the time when concordance was catalogued around 1890). It has now been edited to include the other translation's such as ESV and NASB. So while the words might be different, you can still match up Strong's numbers with other translations. Another resource you might find helpful (since they make lining up the keywords in other translations easier) is www.blueletterbible.org, which will allow you to see the words and associated Strong's numbers with each. Let me know if you find this helpful or if you have other questions:)
@@thejamesmethod that is helpful. Thanks! I'll look it up
We're so glad! Let us know what you think of it or if you have any other questions!
I am doing the verse making and I am noticing that there are many words that don’t have meanings in lexicon. Please talk about that.
I’m glad you brought this up. What translation are you using to map from?
Thank you so much for your quick response. New King James Version.
I am working on John 3:16. I looked up everlasting and eternal and I don’t see translation in strong’s.
I got these verses from the list I purchased when I purchased the course.
I was doing Joshua 24:15 and my circles are empty. Could not find translations for 1004, 5647, 3068, etc.
I would appreciate it if you would take us through some of these verses on this channel. God bless you and I am very happy I found your course.
Hi there! That's a great idea! @@thejamesmethod thank you so much. I will use that web page as well.
Why don't you order more books? Seems
strange to have such large gaps in the availability, especially considering you advertise alot. I mean, months at a time.
Hey Pam! We are trying really hard to reduce the gaps in inventory but have experienced such rapid growth. Our last shipment was enough to typically last months and it lasted less than 3 days😳We are a family operated, working out of our basement and just ask for grace as we continue to navigate this new growth. We've created a pdf of the journal, which is what we advertise, so that people can still learn this method during the times we are out of stock. The pdf has served people very well and I'm so grateful to be able to offer it!! Our next big shipment will be here in September. It's thousands and thousands of journals...we'll see how long it lasts😬😬 Prayers are definitely appreciated!
Too bad you don't include a phone number on your site. Not everyone feels comfortable about doing monetary transactions via internet.
Hello! We understand, unfortunately we don’t have the ability to do that yet. That said, we have a new chat feature on our website which we try to respond as soon as we can.
