Expensive brands are kinda like NFTs. They’re only deemed valuable because we say they are. Edit: People are entirely missing the point of this comment so I’ll clarify, because if I get one more “same thing could be said abt everything bro. Everything has a price because we say it does bro,” imma snap. I’m specifically referring to *expensive brands* and why we over value those products. What makes these products “valuable” isn’t the product itself, it’s what comes with it. People don’t buy NFTs for the image/picture, they buy it so they can say they own the original, which is what makes it valuable. People don’t buy expensive bags to carry around items, they buy it because of the status it gives them. The price of these items is what *makes it valuable in the first place,* because without it, you wouldn’t be able to say you own said expensive item, therefore you wouldn’t have the status that comes with it. So no, the same couldn’t be said abt “everything.” There are many products out there that have a specific use which people pay for, examples such as toilet paper, tooth paste, laundry detergent etc. There’s a specific value to these items that isn’t dependent on the cost of the item in the first place like with NFTs or expensive brand names.
All of those brands are known to use some of the worst materials. There was a video of a guy that made leather belts for a living and said the LV belt was worth about 12$ in materials and labor.
Compare Felix from 2020 who got pressured by chat to buy a 3k Versace shirt, to Felix now who unironically buy these cringy designer pieces that rappers who just got money or chinese exchange students wear lol.

Expensive brands have convinced rich people to think they know anything about fashion. If your fashion boils down to how expensive your clothes are rather than a coherent artistic statement or the quality of them, then you can't pretend to be fashionable. Good quality and ethical fashion is expensive, but you're not paying for a brand that sells you pricetag slop, you're paying for actual human labor and effort for something that lasts. "stealth wealth" is the worst kind of fashion. Real fashion is coherent and deliberate, and also humanistic, it doesn't try to sell you a cheap unfitting t-shirt for 20 times the price. Never fall for the hype.
What do you mean "stealth wealth" is the worst kind of fashion? The guy in the video said that two of the core principles of stealth wealth is quality and fit. "Stealth wealth" is just referring to the idea that the luxury clothing that the truly rich wear doesn't have any kind of well-known brand, so most people wouldn't think they're rich just by looking at their clothes.
@@TheRedHaze3 Well maybe i mean a slightly different thing but i'm pretty sure he essentially mentioned that in the video. Stealth wealth or I guess "subtle fashion" I refer to as basically this thing that a lot of rich people do: It's when you try to understate everything and avoid "brands" and flashy statements, opting for things that people generally consider "classy" or "high-end" but are not well-thought out. Eg they might be a bare minimum or just part of a trend in their environment, and generally neither tailored or bespoke in any way despite the wealth being the point. Many times, especially in women's fashion this often reads as pretentious. Think of the most boring and conservatively dressed but "obviously rich" older woman that wants to be perceived as such but not look desperate. Lots of jewelry, expensive fabrics, well fitted, but everything is muted, colorless and hidden in an effort to have the cake and eat it too. A polar opposite of that would be the kind of fashionable opulence in rap video clips, even when they're not too flashy or indicating of wealth. Chains, hats, colorful fits with all kinds of patterns, etc. where the expression is the point. Someone like xqc, wearing flashy expensive things that he actually likes would fit there too. Or for example basically any well designed video game character that tend to be designed with a very coherent composition in a way that communicates the character's traits. Also, kitsch fashion is more fashionable, despite people associating it with "bad and cheap" imitation fashion, precisely because its more coherent and deliberate in its expression than "subtle wealth" type fashion. When you see people with unique and impeccable fashion, with crazy flowing and layered clothing that makes you think "this looks badass", it's not the billionaires because billionaires are not fashionable despite their expensive suits and tailors. Those "hype" over-expensive brands try to appeal to middle-high class people that want to "feel rich" by emulating this "subtle wealth", and their priority is not with quality, fit, functionality or expressiveness and so they tend to suck.
@@Nina-cd2eh All he really said about stealth wealth is that it's based around minimalism, quality, and fit. While minimalism is related to the definition of stealth wealth/subtle fashion that you gave ("understate everything", "bare minimum"), minimalism itself is a totally valid art style. The fact that some people do it poorly is completely irrelevant. Really, you're just talking about how some people simply have no sense of style. That applies to every demographic though, not just the rich. This video is not about fashion, this video is about the misplaced notion that brand clothing like Gucci and Balenciaga are status symbols because that's what the rich wear, when really it's mostly the middle class who can't even afford what they're wearing. being rich is subjective, whether you have a gucci shirt or you are surrounded by people that genuinely love you, it all depends on your personal values and what you do with your own hard earned money.
@@offed_in the 100k-high six figures a year range it’s subjective. I know people who make under 100k a year who are never strapped for cash, and can buy anything they think of buying because they don’t have expensive tastes. They don’t even track their expenses, spend on whatever they think of, and still save money. I also know dozens of people who make over 400k a year who live beyond their means and think they are middle class because they compare themselves to their peers who are richer. I think high six figures is where people begin to universally feel that they are rich, again in my experience.
It's not about spending your money better, it's just that stuff like gucci or supreme is tacky and tasteless. Too much association with the _hoi polloi_ . Most definitely spend a ton of money on clothes no matter who they are, it's just different brands that you probably have not heard of

only X would arrive at the conclusion that buying better quality and brand-logo less items is as pretentious as buying a lower quality but with brand-logos all over it.
@@andrewxzvxcud2 there is nothing pretentious about buying a high quality or the highest quality everyday item for your good if you can afford it. I mean X admitted he was pretentious and said both purchases were as well, soo.. why not buy the better one? He's not middle class in money he can afford it. Xqc saying why does any of it matter as if he’s buying it because he likes those brands and not because he just wants to flex them on social media is hilarious.
The only "designer" clothing I own is dress shirts and polos, and in my experience Burberry is the only brand in that tier that even comes close to being worth its price. Not flashy, but very comfortable and lasts years. If you buy decent quality clothes, you won't need to buy more for years.
I work in an industry where I deal with the wealthiest people in my city. These people are driving highest trim honda subaru and toyota and wearing mall clothes half the time.. RICH rich people don't give a fuck lmfao. Not always, but those who DO have the most luxurious items are usually younger and have yet to learn the things all of the older folks know now
Real luxury comes from quality and authenticity of the product, which doesn't need any "in your face" branding as it's already a luxury for those who can spot it. Take italian leather, Britain's tweed, austrian lodens, etc. Now, yeah, sure, LV and Gucci are quality and use these products, and sure, you can say "who cares", "you can wear what you want", etc., but the point is that most of these heavily branded items just comes off as blingy rather than classy. "Being wealthy" isn't just a question of money ; it's a set of knowledge, traditions, etiquettes, etc. that makes you able to interact with the higher class. So basically, when the middle class buy these brands to appear richer, it has the opposite effect. In other words, you better spend your money on a locally tailored suit than a dumb blingy Louis Vuitton banana bag...

As noted in the video, for some, wearing luxury is a way to physically materialize the abstract feeling of success and achievement. It's like a trophy you can wear. To say that luxury is dumb because it's overpriced completely ignores the emotional aspect we attach to physical things. That's like saying to throw away a family heirloom because it looks tacky and is cheaply made.
So much words and 0 points made. If you’re buying luxury to signify success, simply of its status symbol and monetary value, then you’re just another materialistic chump. It’s the complete opposite of the sentimental value of a family heirloom.
@@eratosthenes8004 Regardless of whether he is materialistic or not a poor person wouldn't be able to afford it, so luxury brands aren't for poor people. being rich is subjective, whether you have a gucci shirt or you are surrounded by people that genuinely love you, it all depends on your personal values and what you do with your own hard earned money.
Shut up
nah fam rich is not subjective, you either have money or don't
@@offed_in the 100k-high six figures a year range it’s subjective. I know people who make under 100k a year who are never strapped for cash, and can buy anything they think of buying because they don’t have expensive tastes. They don’t even track their expenses, spend on whatever they think of, and still save money. I also know dozens of people who make over 400k a year who live beyond their means and think they are middle class because they compare themselves to their peers who are richer. I think high six figures is where people begin to universally feel that they are rich, again in my experience.
luxury fashion is for people with poor spending habits, and the richest of the rich tend to be smarter with their spendings
therefore, be smart and start investing into stake NOW
Not true really... Rich people are allowed to buy quality/pricey clothes rather than save a few pennies lmao
Multimillionaires buy stuff like boats and mansions, they aren't sweating over 5k Gucci purses that are a drop in the bucket to them.
@@Walrus101 They don't do it to save pennies
It's not about spending your money better, it's just that stuff like gucci or supreme is tacky and tasteless. Too much association with the _hoi polloi_ . Most definitely spend a ton of money on clothes no matter who they are, it's just different brands that you probably have not heard of
omg poor felix got freaking flame grilled and roasted

hes trying so hard to cope on why he spend thousands of dollars on designer clothes
i hate this quiet luxury trend because no one is being quiet about it.
Yep. It's because it's the same people that always are addicted to being seen that now want to act how much like they don't wanna be seen, while being seen. It'll go away and real quiet luxury will remain quiet.
he who wants least has most. Dont waste your time chasing wothless highs and chasing clout on superficial and materalistic shit it just leads to being empty and alone like X
xQc overdosing on that COPIUM
nah
he keeps saying who cares but at what point did he go from shitting on designer clothes to wearing it all like hes a walking ad for all those brands
The levels of cope in this video are amazing, lol. This video called him out big time.
????
8:50 someone said "Shangai Dragons Jacket" nahhh 💀💀💀💀💀
Now injecting copium. Now injecting copium. Overload overload
only X would arrive at the conclusion that buying better quality and brand-logo less items is as pretentious as buying a lower quality but with brand-logos all over it.
i mean it is... because why would they want to not show theyre wealthy? exactly
@@andrewxzvxcud2 there is nothing pretentious about buying a high quality or the highest quality everyday item for your good if you can afford it. Pretentiousness comes when you have the money to buy the better quality one with no brand logos but you buy the logo riddled one because somehow you think it's cooler or better. I mean X admitted he was pretentious and said both purchases were as well, soo.. why not buy the better one? He's not middle class in money he can afford it. Unless he likes to show off the Gucci logo, and that's so tasteless.

Yeah guys old money didnt work for their money. Unlike me who makes millions reacting to videos and playing video games. What a hard worker xqc, poor you 😔
Dude thinks he works hard by doing what we all do to unwind from our shit ass jobs.
This cope was too funny. Since for once he cant say "POOR" as a rebuttal, he copes by claiming "ok you might be richer but you didnt EARN it like I did" LMFAOOOOO. Imagine lucking into playing games for a living and thinking this way.
I thought this cope died out in like 2015
If being a streamer is so easy then do it. Get rich fast if it's that easy.
the most expensive gucci jacket doesnt have a single gucci logo is proof that year the richest of the rich dont usually wear labels but still want to wear high quality clothing thats well fitted
Xqc saying why does any of it matter as if he’s buying it because he likes those brands and not because he just wants to flex them on social media is hilarious.
"Mine is a Gucci" - xQc
Chat: "Mine is a firefighter jacket"
The only "designer" clothing I own is dress shirts and polos, and in my experience Burberry is the only brand in that tier that even comes close to being worth its price. Not flashy, but very comfortable and lasts years. If you buy decent quality clothes, you won't need to buy more for years.
he got so pressed
HOW IS HE SO PRESSED OMEGALUL
I work in an industry where I deal with the wealthiest people in my city. These people are driving highest trim honda subaru and toyota and wearing mall clothes half the time.. Title of this video should be "XQC Copes for 18 minutes"
Spends the entire video saying "who cares?" Bro YOU care💀💀
My take is honestly all those brand names that get thrown around "supreme" "LV" "gucci" "balen" have sort of become the commercial airliners sure there was a time once when the poor couldn't buy the plate tickets but over time more and more got in, meanwhile the "true" luxuries are like the privet jets airliners that not many heard of let alone access. The brands that aren't in everyone's mouth, talk of the fashion capital are the "true" luxuries
9:20 you proved the point tho, you got bullied into taking it off even if you like it
When you try too hard to appear wealthy, that is cringe. Xqc wearing Gucci and his chain to all social events he goes to is ubercringe
Don't forget his so loved cars he drives any opportunity he gets
When all you get is equity in your kick contract 😭😭😭😭
Dude looses his marbles at 15:00
X got a lil defensive about being 'new money' ahahaha. He definitely felt attacked by the fact that old money finds luxury brands like gucci or LV tasteless. He would seethe if he knew that these billionaires look down on new money internet creators the same way Xqc looks down on wagies.
Luxury is dumb😊
So much words and 0 points made. If you’re buying luxury to signify success, simply of its status symbol and monetary value, then you’re just another materialistic chump. It’s the complete opposite of the sentimental value of a family heirloom.
@@eratosthenes8004 Regardless of whether he is materialistic or not a poor person wouldn't be able to afford it, so luxury brands aren't for poor people.
A better argument would have been "Luxury brands are for people with poor mindsets" and enumerating the materialistic aspect, the insecurity aspect, the low self esteem aspect, etc.
@@charlesm.2604 but the middle class and the struggling one can afford it by taking a debt so your point is not that accurate it's literally illusion

Why does Chat care so much if X buys Gucci? It doesn't impact their lives. If you like something that makes you happy, you can buy it as long as It doesn't negatively impact you.
the only thing chat cares about are his brainrotting amounts of cope and projection when being confronted with these kinds of videos.

jackets and shirts plasttered with logos designs just doesn't look like good fashion to me, even if I was a millionaire I wouldn't be wearing clothes like that
It is plastered with logo so the companies can farm the sense of "fitting in" and trying to conform out of NPCs. "Look, this is what people are wearing now, you don't wanna feel like an outsider now do you? Get this brand here that's plastered all over it." It's a walking billboard, it's hilarious.
yeah for sure, feels like these people cant even break of such false reality@@ItsMeChillTyme
I one of the folk that believe if there’s a specific piece from a Luxury Brand that you love, get it if you can afford it. Otherwise, it’s just a scam, buying it just cuz of the brand is stupid when you can find similar quality for quarter of the price. And stealth wealth is pure braindead.
