My brother passed away Thursday, and the hurricane is coming in on the same day we're trying to get my sister home from Zephyrhills area to Ohio so we can lay my brother to rest.

When Mitch “Nerd Out” then you really need to pay very close attention to what he’s saying. I absolutely love when he goes into “Beast Mode” because I learn so much and I appreciate it.
The stronger hurricanes tend to be alittle more resistant to dry air. Some models show this comming in as a cat 4 others as a cat 1 but my guess would be a cat 3 or high end cat 2. There is enough dry air that I can't see it not having any effect but I can't see it totally shredding such a strong storm either.

I have te same question. NC had rain for a few days before. Our geography is very different but we have been seeing rain all day and feel like it will keep raining until it lands.

I've noticed that a lot of the hurricane models have a dry pocket forming inside the core of storm before it starts to get wrapped in. It doesn't make sense to me. It seems like the storm never really wraps the dry air in, it just starts in the southern eye wall and expands rather than encircling and choking.
Pray for my family near Mt Dora area. My son is on a fishing trip up in the Port St Joe area . His wife and my 3 grandkids are home getting ready to go through this without him. Pray God will have his protective arms around them and all in the path! Amen
What's the small island above the Yucatan peninsula? They're about to get wrecked at what seems like the peak of this storm. Yikes for them. Hope they get some warnings for sure.
The angle is much different than Helene for a worst case scenario. Longer duration of square miles of building waves from west to east unlike Helene.. the track very important for Tampa Bay if it goes north then unfortunate catastrophic surge .. this would be all time record.. 15ft surge..1848 . We just set record surge up to 7ft..hopefully it will go south for minimal surge for Tampa. Models have trended south. Sarasota, Venice , Port Charlotte to Fort Myers very concerned for these communities for surge.. thankyou Mitch with all your details. We hope you had a blessed weekend🌎🎛🐈
@cherylschneider6903 yeah with the trough to the north already some rain falling..at least the forcast shows a pick up in forward speed we don't see it slowing so that's good.. looks like wednesday Afternoon at the moment and models with the track will wobble.. its weird to see the gfs been holding that north track consistantly..we will see Monday morning if it shifts south with the other models..take care..we will see Mitch this monday morning
A Cat 2 or 3 hurricane cane still carrying the Cat 5 swells and a decent portion of a Cat 5 surge. Reference Hurricane Isabel that hit Hatteras, NC with 62 ft waves.
@NOTHEOTHERGUY October historicaly is busy for the gulf , Caribbean and the se coast. Troughs from the north dig more south and can influence a hurricane to move east. This is why you see the storms in the south Atlantic turn more north early in the fall months
Y'all need like a weather editor, if you will. Something, an app, a program, whatever, that you could pick and paste which parts of the model guidance you personally agreed with, put it together and call it your own. :) a guidance shopper. God bless

Lord, I ask that you cause a shift in the projected path of Milton to move in a way that will be the least destructive for all those that would be impacted, I ask this in the name of the son of God. Amen 🙏
Very concerned about that jet streak to the northeast. Going to keep massive divergence aloft. Worried that it may slow Milton’s weakening. It also may help try to transition Milton, which will also mean slower weakening with a broader wind field. The good news is… still looks like Milton will weaken before landfall. But I fear the models showing a virtual collapse of Milton prior to landfall will not verify. Here’s hoping they do. But I’m fairly bullish on landfall intensity, and leaning north (that same divergence may help draw Milton a bit more northward). All bad things for Tampa. So, hopefully I’m wrong. I am a meteorologists, btw, with something of a specialty in hurricanes (used to run my own hurricane forecasting business), so I’d like to think I have a bit of knowledge here. Doesn’t mean I’m always right. I sure as heck am not. So, hopefully I’m wrong here. But my initial thinking is close to a worst case for Tampa. I have a bit of a reputation for being too conservative. So, it’s pretty uncommon for me to predict a “worst case”. But I call it as I see it. Just hoping I’m wrong. Hope that dry air can collapse Milton.

Several models show a wed night landfall which is 72 hours from now. Not 84-90.
In that case, it hasn't weakened much and is cat 3 to mid cat 4.

If it goes south, it would be bad for the Charlotte area, but Tampa was pretty affected by Helene so it'd probably be the best case, unfortunately.
