On 11/27/21 one of the greatest moments happened in Michigan stadium history. The Wolverines snapped a decade long drought against BRUTUS and ended a 20 plus consecutive win streak against Big Ten opponents. The offense and defense were absolutely dominant and it finally showed. But what made this day so amazing was the fans and the snow, absolutely the loudest I've ever heard and I've been going since October 23,1993. Seeing everyone running on the field is something that NO ONE WILL EVER FORGET!...... I know I won't because I was there and I got on the field to celebrate with the Wolverines and the fans. As a matter of fact, I had a short conversation with McNamara #12 our starting QB. Simply said, Remember this moment for the rest of your life! You guys deserve this!......GO BLUE.

I have spent a couple thousand on tickets to that game and only saw them beat Ohio in '99 when I got the tickets for free. Said I will never buy anymore till they win again. So jealous of you and so proud of those boys for doing what hardly anyone said could be done.

Up until the late 1970s the stadium was open to the public access during the weekdays and you could be on the field. Did it once when a UofM literary professor we knew named WEB Brition advised us to go down to the stadium and have some fun out on the field. When we arrived there already were numerous families playing mini football games, passing the football, kids running pass patterns, or people strolling around or sitting in the stands. You could run around until dusk started setting in (no lights back then). Great memories.

Yost proposed the issuance of 300 tax-exempt, low-interest stadium bonds at $500 a piece to pay for the construction. The bondholders could then purchase season tickets between the 30-yard lines for 10 years.

A plan was devised, and approved by the Board in Control to finance stadium construction and the facilities called for in the Day Report through a $1,500,000 issue of 3,000 bonds at a par value of $500 at 3 percent interest. These financial instruments bearing the picture of a wolverine would fund not only the stadium, but all the facilities called for in the Day Committee Report.

Yost got 10,000 people to buy $500 state tax-exempt bonds "Carrying preferred seat purchase privelege[s]" I hope they show the next part on here. I have a high-res scan of one of the certificates (No. 2999), and they used it in the episode. It's really an incredible document--an official state bond with a Wolverine on top.

(Okay - Maryland had a football rep - "Bear" Bryant coached there BEFORE Alabama; but - as any Big Ten fan will tell you, the ACC is NOT the Big Ten.) And you must admit - beating Michigan - in their building - would absatively put you on the map. (Maryland knew that - as the same was true if their rivalry with Penn State - before and since Maryland joined the Big Ten - wins in Happy Valley were rare - and on the basketball side - Penn State had similar bad luck at Cole Field House and Xfinity Center.) That is why I eagerly await coverage of both Cole Field House and Xfinity Center on "American Built".
