My voice is pretty much gone in this video. Blame the 49ers for losing. I may or may not have been yelling at my TV earlier in the day.

Such a rough one to watch, they didn’t want to score in the second half

Abraham's Long Price Quartet is fantastic.

Dagger & Coin is Abraham trying the traditional "epic." I've read the first 3 and I love them all.
However he's explored the "epic" in different ways. The Long Price Quartet is him following a story in four parts across the lives of his characters, each about 15 years apart. This is the epic of lived experiences and consequences, with an amazing magic system and wonderful ideas at play. One of the best series I've ever read.
Kithamar is him exploring one epic story through different lenses. I respect an author who is actively looking to play with these things.
As another commenter has mentioned, any individual Abraham book might not feel like a jaw-dropping 5 star read... But when you can place it beside its companions in a series, they really are sublime!

Daniel Abraham has also written Long Price Quartet, a character driven political Asian inspired Fantasy and an Urban Fantasy series under a pen name.

I love the Expanse...I also loved Daniel Abraham's Long Price Quartet. I read the first 2 books of Dagger and Coin so far. It's very different from his other series, kind of a classic fantasy vibe. I was surprised by that when I picked up the first book. I can't wait to read the 3rd one next month. I think Abraham's books are better in retrospect and as a whole, and maybe not so impressive individually on first read. That was definitely the case with LPQ.

I love the premise behind this series and really can’t wait to try it! Glad it’s been working for you, and hopefully that means the payoffs towards the end will be huge with his slow burn style

I very much agree! This series is so underrated. Granted, I did get confused at first when he throws at you 13 different races, but maybe I'm just dumb lol
Other than the Expanse, this is the only book series of his I've read so far.

The third book, Tyrant's Law, is the best in the series along with the last one. I'm sure that one will get a 5 star for you; because that's where most of the characters really shine. Glad you're enjoying the series, it's one of my favorites!

That's one of Abraham's weaknesses as an author, his Book Ones are fantastic in retrospect once you've more context but on their own are okay.

Picked up the series two weeks ago and completely agree, this is a really underrated political thriller. Your one of the only book tubers I watch that have discussed this series.

It’s a nice surprise when you try a book or movie or whatever that you thought you didn’t like and end up really enjoying it, maybe even finding a new fandom.

I loved this series. I agree that there could have been more battle sequence, but the author is building something much bigger. For me he was able to use this series to define the meaning of truth and faith. How can a nation make it's own narrative then how nations conflic over their own made up principles. he will be able to pull everything togther in the end. Hang in there. There is a reward at the end of this tunnel.

I read this series about 10 years ago and didn't like it, but my tastes have matured a lot since then, so I think I should try it again

I’ve read his long price quartet. I gave all 4 of them 4/5.

It does kinda feel like all of them are 4/5 books (except Autumn War and Balasar Gice’s plot especially is a 5/5 to me) but I keep thinking about the series and I think it’s a case of greater than the sum of its parts, because I’d consider the series a 5 star series
