Today, I embarked on an exploration of the trail system in Horizon West, a rapidly developing area northwest of Walt Disney World. The trail features wide, multi-use paths, providing a fantastic cycling experience away from the bustling traffic lanes.
My route took me through several vibrant communities, including Independence, SummerPort, Summer Lake, and Winter Garden. It was fascinating to witness the transformation of the landscape, where sprawling citrus groves once stood, now replaced by new homes and bustling streets.
I began my ride at Deputy Scott Pine Community Park, looping through the various subdivisions and passing by Windemere High School. The fog lifted to reveal a perfect day for cycling, making it an enjoyable 32-mile exploration of these previously uncharted trails.
