No it's a joke it wasn't scary at all. I grew up on legend, jarasic park, lost boys and freaking Tim Burton Batman Wich Danny as penguin was way more scary and creepy then this green goblin. If you call that scary you must of been afraid of your own shadow.

I read a rumor that in No Way Home when Aunt May stuck the serum into Norman’s neck, it was supposed to make him green like the comics but they scrapped it and simply said “it didn’t work”
It makes sense for him to say that instead. It helps imply that Goblin came back whilst the serum was in the middle of being created and he sabotaged it

If you watch the full test footage of the mask there was no issues with facial expressions so it wasn't a limitation factor it was was just a scary factor. Keep in mind there parents send complaining letters to Hollywood everyday. So just like the cancel culture of today parents and teachers bread that behavior into the kids of today. Nothing but a bunch of butthurt people with nothing better to do.
The armor mask was the better call in my opinion since it let him give a better performance with his facial expressions for when he took it off rather than a face mold

Im glad it was changed. Not only does the armor look cooler, but also if he looked like that, then you wouldn't be able to see Willem Dafoe's fantastic acting performance. Dafoe is what makes this version of Green Goblin my favorite Spider-man villain.
Eh i like the way they did it the way the chemical altered his mind into a split personality that's very obvious in the movies is a cool way to show a "monster" that's really just a person
I wish they have him some prosthetic during no way home. William De Foe is so expressive, but a little make up and some enhancements would take his performance over the edge.
I think it's fine to have an actors face covered up because they can use other ways to get across they're emotions and yeah it sucks a little that we don't get Willem face shown alot but I think his acting makes up in other ways like his body movements or his voice
Plus you can see every bit of emotion in his face either way since his mouth is visible in every shot beneath the mask and so are his devil like crazy eyes
Steve Ditko originally wanted the green goblin to be an alien from egyptian pyramids before they decided to make it a superstrength serum for Norman Osborn to use.
This just shows that the Raimi movies are heavily inspired by the Ultimate comics. I'm pretty sure Norman turning into a big green guy was from the Ultimate comics. Honestly, the Raimi movies are basically: 90s Cartoon + Ultimate Comics

I think the armor should have been worn by Harry, while Norm was transformed. Harry took up his fathers name and suit anyways so it would have made more sense.
The latex mask was very emotive, and definitely more than the metal one. Though I think reducing the metal mask to like a smaller one that only covers the upper face, then giving him the hood is a good work around

What’s cool about the metal mask is that even with a covered up face, you can still distinguish every emotion in William’s performance as his mouth and eyes are always visible Beneath the mask and you can always see his mouth make the most inhuman smiles and laughs which is a cool detail that I think most people don’t recognize
They must have changed the whole plot with that decision. There are scenes with Norman when he's not being the Goblin that we couldn't have gotten if he was transformed.
We could have easily lived without the scenes of him screaming into a mirror. We already know Goblin is a lunatic, we don't need to see that over and over

I would like to see his skin turned green with his larg pointy ears, short fangs and his eyes turned yellow with red veins or yellow glowing goggles but definitely a hood on his head like the Far From Home movie. So like I said green skin, pointy ears, short fangs and yellow eyes is all he needed because he really had the perfect face and demeanor for the character.
They artificially straighted his teeth when he was Norman and used his normal teeth for the goblin to signify the difference in personality when the mask was off
