Reform Judaism views the Bible as "reflecting the primitive ideas of its own age" (Pittsburgh platform of 1885) and does not see Jewish law as binding.
During my lifetime I have seen Reform Judaism change 180°. They have reintroduced rituals and practices they once abandoned but none are mandatory. At one time they discarded most traditions and emphasized ethics in the spirit of the prophets. They currently allow each individual to decide what is meaningful and relevant to that person. Many Reform Jews are not well versed in Hebrew and Aramaic source documents and support popular secular causes and ideas but label them as tikkun olam (Hebrew for repairing the world).
My son in law Jackson and his friend David told me about this heroic story! It’s heartwarming that the greater Jewish community can come together and share the love.
One day we pray that he will come to God in faith by Jesus Christ that his soul may be saved. "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." Romans 10:1-3
We took my daughter’s (all or mostly Protestant) Girl Scout troop to this synagogue (at least I believe it was this one) when she was in grade school, and they were so warm and welcoming to us. What a lovely congregation. ❤ Edit: the Rabbi just used “warm and welcoming” to describe them, as well 😊 Welcome to Dallas, Rabbi!
I was recently invited to a profile Jewish funeral in London. I phoned a rabbi at the Finchley reform Synagogue in north London to find out how to behave, what to do and say; what not to do, etc. The welcome I got seems, in retrospect, to have been G _ d given; in that I, after such a brief encounter, I feel myself to be more Jewish than Church of England protestant. I am a very level headed older man and feel comfortable tuning in to LJS (youtube) on Saturday mornings. Very odd indeed.
@@flatarthur3161 Soon to be rabbi here. Op couldn't more incorrect. Torah is Hebrew for Instruction. The Torah is like an Instruction manual for life and by following it the best we can we can make the world a much better place. Now, I'm a Reformist Jew. We don't believe Hashem actually literally created The Torah, but he definitely did inspire its creation. Some of the old world laws simply don't apply to our modern way of life, but some very much do. Reformism is about bringing the word of The Lord into the 21st Century. Now I'm not saying OP is unintelligent, but simply that he is wrong imo on this one subject. Nothing in that book says anything good about those who challenged G-d. Serious question: assuming the rabbi is a practicing homosexual, what are his thoughts on Leviticus 18:22 ?

@@stephenfisher3721 Ah. Understand. Kind of. So, The Law, Torah, etc. isn't relevant? What are examples of obligatory precepts then?

Just may be a first in Dallas. We have had a synogogue serving the LGBTQ community in San Francisco Sha'ar Zahav for 40 years 🌈🕎
