Amtrak & MARC: Rail Observations (March 2016)

‣ MARC Penn Line and Amtrak regional trains operating and bypassing Odenton station, south of BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, along the Northeast Corridor. This recording took place at not the best time or day to even record commercial public transportation amidst the Brussels Terrorist Attacks taken place that very morning. MTA Maryland and Maryland Transit Authority [don't mix them up] police forces were on foot patrol with canines to twart any more possible attacks abroad regional commuter trains. Things were calm and settle during the evening rush hour commute, so my presence wasn't alarming to distraction - hopefully! - for patrons disembarking the ever so busy MARC Penn Line.

Notice that the kickoff is an ACS-864 in MARC livery; I missed the number, though. It is being chased by it's brother in AMTRAK livery, then comes an Acela Express headed south. Apparently, the HHP-8s are hanging on at MARC - 4913 (MARC livery) showed up. (4910 - the original HHP-8 - wears MDOT livery - not MARC livery; the only time I ever eyeballed it was when passing through Ivy City in Independence Week 2000.)
I have another observation - the crews of AMTRAK/MARC (same crews, as AMTRAK is the contracted operator) do not use the "PushMiPullYu" configuration of the ACS-64 (basically a clone of Acela). It's not that they can't/don't support it - NJ Transit does use this configuration (not on every train, but the last set of videos Fan Railer did of Princeton Junction showed several ACS-64 sets in it) - which makes it "operator preference" - not lack of support.
Interesting you say that, I was called in as 'suspicious' at Long Bridge Park in Crystal City. Though the officer ubderstood my interest
+traindude32 Honestly, if I was anywhere else within the city than same issue would have happened to me. Since this was a suburban area station away from everything - still a high volume rider traffic - they were reluctant to not be overzealous.
the evening rush 4 to 6pm is always a good time to catch all marc's electrics.
