Thanks Barry, 85-90 F3000 was fantastic, but as seen by Herberts and Trolles accidents, the frontal protection wasn't good enough. Great cars though. I love the simple formula of the same restricted V8 for all and allowing chassis competition.

I was working in the prees office that was across from the pits, we knew its a bad crash. When you see 10 cars come back to the most somber pit lane.
I did love F3000 ,great looking cars and noise and loved the teams, as you see them working late at night in the garages. Thanks for sharing 👍

One of the worst race weekends I have ever experienced. I was working for Ralt Racing with the charming and talented Eric Bernard (43).... I was the "Trucky" and when you hear the screech of tyres your heart sinks into your stomach....The following silence is deafening......There was a lot of damage to both Drivers and equipment... Thankfully no deaths.. only God knows why not... Thank you for sharing this Barry, it brought back other much Happier memories. :-)))

Beautiful but not a brilliant circuit with drivers such as Laffite, Trollé and Herbert suffering terrible injuries.

Great stuff! Thanks for sharing with us. A few months later I saw Herbert`s debut in F1 at Jacarepaguá track in Rio, 89 Brazilian GP. As he was not fully recovered, Johnny used a bike to move himself in the paddock area. He finished the race in 4th after a very good performance.

What an incredible video. Thank you very much for uploading.
On a sad note, I think the video shows the aftermath of Michel Trollé's serious and ultimately (single seater) career-ending accident from 7:40.

@@thiscocks He suffered severe injuries to both his legs. It took almost two hours to extract him from the vehicle.
According to a French newspaper article preceding the 1990 24 hours of Le Mans, his left leg was broken in 19 places, his right leg in 7 (tibia/fibula).
Trollé spent ca. 21 months in reconvalescence.

Hi Barry, I hope you are well.
My name is Adam and I’m writing to you from a video production company called Kingdom Creative, I hope you don’t mind me reaching out to you.
We are currently making a passion project which is a short documentary about Martin Donnellys racing career before his awful crash in Jerez. I have come across your footage on your UA-cam channel called ‘The Sound of Speed’ - F3000 Brands Hatch 1988. You’ve captured some really fantastic footage it’s amazing, I love the sounds of the V8s as you pointed out!
I managed to find a few clips of Martin Donnelly and I was wondering whether you would be happy for us to use some of this footage in our short documentary? Could you also confirm if this is your footage? I've also sent you a message on Facebook but just wanted to post on here in case it was missed as we aren't Friends on there.
Hope you hear back from you soon🙂
    Many thanks,
    Adam

Great to see, how does 36 years pass so quickly. I bet that bloke in the jeans and jumper with the camera in his bag would talk a lot more sense than most of us brainwashed woke twats today
