- I purchased a Khaen or Khene online from Thailand. I have no idea how to play it yet, but here is the unboxing and first experience playing one and figuring it out. Here's to a new instrument!
Hal Walker (Banakula on TikTok) definitely inspired me to get one! And I am now even more impressed with his Khaen playing!

5:46 This instrument came out a bit out of tune but the letter names make it easier so you treat it like a transposing instrument the way you do a trumpet
So the note names on the pipes are correct, it's a transposing instrument like a Trumpet which helps so that you don't have to learn a new set of fingerings.

the instruments not flat, the khaen is a transposing instrument. so if you play an aminor one, its written at concert pitch, but the other keys of khaen are all transposing, so they are written the same
Yep! Figured that out. It's still quite out of tune even to the key it's in, but this was a very cheap one..

I got the same exact one, but mine sounds like a dry fart. I play mouth instruments, so I'm not trippin. My Khaen doesn't make any godam beautiful wondrous sound like that no matter how elegantly or strong I blow. Fml. I literally unboxed it after watching this shizz and I didn't get any of your long deep notes, sheeit.
Ive seen that sometimes itsime a 50/50 and hope u dont get a low quality one so thats unlucky hopefully its just like something u dont know yet

Your supposed to inhale and blow without moving your lips. If you open your mouth you lose the momentum and your blowing too hard your messing up the brass reeds. That’s how you ruin the notes keep in mind that they are fragile.
