Wow! A mosh pit @ Liberty! Love the signage behind the stage MUSIC IS LIBERTY! Looking forward to next week, Vic! Also, enjoyed Steve, the lodge, etc. And, who knew Walt Disney was a big skier?!? Cool!
Thank you! Right! I was just as surprised to find that out! Disney had some amazing plans and ideas for a ski resort. The mosh pitting was a Volcom party and they were wild! I was working the little bar and it felt like they were going to knock it down! The music should be a bit different this week! I’ll see if I can catch some action of me behind the bar. Maybe during a day shift, when it’s not too insane.
I only snowshoe and X-country ski and never in the Eastern Sierras, but very much enjoyed the history lesson on Dave McCoy, the McGee rope tow, Tamarack Lodge, Walt Disney's interest in Mammoth and of course all the video of that most beautiful part of our state.
The Tamarack Lodge is actually a Cross Country Ski Lodge. There are trails all through the lakes basin. I wish I hadn’t left my snowshoes in Humboldt of all places! You’ll have to try the Eastern Sierras one day! Thank you for watching!
Thanks Vic for the great history on Mammoth Mountain. As a kid I got to spend some time up there chopping wood for my neighbors the McCrae's who owned a home up there. Their oldest daughter Robin was the 1st female to be on the Mammoth Mountain ski patrol and she was also a pro skier at that time racing. Thanks again for the great video!!!
It’s my pleasure and thank you, Mark! I love hearing people’s stories and connections to people and places I go! Yeah, wooding (as we call it) is a definite thing around here and taken very seriously! I feel like I may know who Robin is.
I do, too! He has a great no nonsense, just the facts approach that I truly appreciate. I especially love that he’s gone places I want to go and that way I can direct people to his videos for more information! Lol
Thank you, will do! We’d love to see you at Liberty…I got your first drink! There will be a lot more of the bar and our sister restaurant, Main Street Pizza and Tap, next week! Also, If you haven’t done so already, check out Sidetrack Adventures!
Hi Vic! Great video today. I enjoyed your interview with Steve of Sidetrack Adventures, and how he started his channel. I’ve watched some of his videos; he’s got a great style too.
Betty! It’s funny how many similarities we had! From traveling as kids with an adventurous father, to being the oldest sibling, etc. It was an absolute joy talking to Steve! I’m really enjoying these opportunities! I love Steve’s no nonsense, just the facts approach. Thank you, Betty!
@@thevicmeiershowNo, I didn’t but I’ll take a look (and I’ll start following him too). He provides a lot of good information. Over here, we’re anxiously awaiting the total eclipse of the sun on April 8th!!! Very exciting. Today I heard that a total eclipse on a cloudy day is 10x better than a partial eclipse on a sunny day, so hopefully the weather won’t spoil the fun. 🌗
Yay! That’s exactly the response I was hoping for! I’m subscribed to his channel as well! He is a darling human and man it was thrill to interview him! I really hope you enjoy it! “Sidenote”…he has the nicest eyes hiding under that cap. I’m lucky to have been given the time.
Hi Vic. Thanks for having me on. It was a blast chatting with you. Hope to catch up again soon.
Hi Steve! It was my honor and pleasure, I had a great time chatting with you, too! I look forward to the next time!
