Thanks for teaching that! I have often shied away from marble tops thinking I couldn’t paint. Awesome technique!

As a very competent and trained decorative painter (and fine artist) since the early1980's, I have one comment about your project. Although your project is interesting and you performed it well, I personally never chose to paint furniture pieces when they were already either a fine wood or had real marble on them. Doing decorative work on 'less than' fine pieces, ie. an old console, table, etc., I loved. However, to paint over, for example, a real marble top (already the exquisite artwork of mother nature), I never felt really comfortable or right doing. And btw, I'm not in anyway trying to be negative toward you or your work, which seems fine to me. It's simply my own personal feelings. And because of that, I definitely turned down potential jobs here and there. I close on wishing you continued success in decorative painting.

You don't know how glad I am to finally find a video on how to paint marble. I've had several marble top pieces that really needed to be refinished. Great video !! I love this piece and the colors you used. Do you have a video showing you painting it?

Love this! I, too, thought I couldn’t paint marble. How has it held up? I have a heavy use item with a marble top and not sure it will hold up if I paint it. ❤

What’s the reasoning for the sanding being that using the Slick Stick is for adhesion to slick surfaces specifically? Does it not work well enough to adhere without the sanding? I’ve not had the best adhesion with Slick Stick personally. It peeled back on the things I use it on. After painting on two dry overnight coats...

Hi! As a rule I always sand. Being that I sell my work I like to feel confident it will hold up for my clients. With that said, I have used Slick Stick on things without sanding, such as glass. It has worked for me like a charm and I haven’t had peeling. Did you clean your your piece properly? Grease and oils can act as a repellent.
