First time I ever heard of this place was today. It showed up in my genealogy. My ancestor owned two beautiful homes there in the 1900's. I'm going to do some research..first of all it sent me to your video. It's a beautiful place..thank you
Wow, thank you! This was my first time, but something tells me the island hasn't changed much in 20 years, and that's a good thing. I hope it stays like this forever! This reminds me, I need to order more coffee from Monhegan. Thank you for watching!
@@HikerDudeDad It hasn't changed much in the 60 year span I've experienced, nor from the photos my grandfather left a hundred years ago! Monhegan is a magical place and I'm glad you and your children got the chance to experience it. Thank you again for your wonderful video!
Beautiful video, I lived there during my high school years in the early 80's my family moved from Detroit. No electricity or running water just the beauty of the island and the wonderful people just around 103 people year around.
Margaret, that sounds amazing! I was completely captivated by the entire vibe of the island. It's great to hear from someone who has lived there! Thanks for watching.
This is my most viewed video, and I wish I did a better job showing the town, especially the boat ride out, brewery, and coffee roaster (who I STILL order their Periwinkle blend from!). If you're anywhere near Boothbay, hop on that boat!
My husband just sent me the confirmation for a room at the Island Inn! Monhegan Island, here we come! Thanks for the information. I'm about to burst, I'm so excited!!
Took the day trip to Monhegan from Boothbay Harbor three years ago. Great time in August of 2019. Stayed at the Five Gables Inn. Beautiful part of the country!!

You warmed my heart. I spent most of my childhood summers on Monhegan, but it's been 20 years since my last trip.

@@Bogframe that's amazing! That won't be our only time there, for sure. I absolutely loved it.

I've been to Maine and it's wonderful.
You saw Jamie Wyeth's home by the tug wreck.
Nice lookouts. Will be visiting this summer.
It is such a cool place... Make sure you hike to the east side for a sunrise!
My husband and I want to see this while in Maine. It calls me, too!!

This video was one year later, Aug 2020. We stayed at the Island Inn and I crushed a full lobster for dinner. It was glorious! Thanks for watching!
Love Monhegan Island! My husband proposed to me there!!
What a place for a proposal! Thank you for watching!
@@HikerDudeDad it was amazing!! We have been there 3 times over the years. I can’t wait to go back!
Amazing I go there ever summer
What a place... Loved it!
How steep was the walk to lobster bay?
Very flat... From the town on the west, it's only like 50' elevation change down to the cove and shipwreck. Thanks for watching!
Wow
P.S. the seals are beautiful creatures.
