He needed a better translator so he could be more comfortable to speak about his music/passion because I know he probably was super stoked to be there but didn’t know how to articulate it the best way… He’s owed a better interview. LOVE KOHH NEVER NEVER FORGET!
Kohh talking about the drug use in japan is real kind made me realize how true it is. Im a brooklyn born japanese but i know my mom use to say my grandpa was into drugs deep and how he had a bad gambling problem and even dealt with the mafia. Even now i still dont hear about that side of things but it is def there
Y'all are so weird. Every time they want to appropriate blo culture they lie about being in gangs, drug abuse, violence, etc when they come from the suburbs with tiger moms.
when i heard him in that song i was like he has a very dope flow thats more Americanized...he sounds like hes dropping bars..no wonder fabolous made him wanna rap.
THANK YOUUUU. My jaw dropped when she said that with zero empathy in her voice… like girl? She was prying and in such a gross way. Why bring that up at all.
I’m reading the comments saying this, and lowkey don’t even want to continue the vid because of it…I hope he didn’t understand her or his translator ignored it because Jesus Christ 😔 have some tact!
Ugh why didn't you hire a better translator (aka me lol) that's from NY but knows the j-hiphop culture too. You tryna tell the audience about how there's a side of Japan that people don't usually see just by visiting and this rapper is being the trailblazer and you lost in translation...smh. Makes me sad, when international musicians have these opportunities and they're not able to show their full potential because you cost cutting on translators...
I like the fact he’s true to hip hop rapping about what’s going on in the ghettos of Japan the struggles the drug use and how he’s over coming it while shedding lite on the real issue
+RYO THA ILLIST yea shit is crazy I can remember back when I first seen the news that he has passed. Samurai champloo put me on him way back when still rocking his music to this day.
Interesting interview... I've always had a trip to Japan on my bucketlist . The whole Japanese hip-hop scene is large and they have a genuine appreciation for our culture.
I think the main reason I vibe to KOHH so much is the lyrics they truly are deep meaningful and in all is so creative with the wordplay. You don't get to hear such positive things in the way he just makes it his own.
Good way to expand his fanbase doing these kinds of interviews even though it probably is a little weird at his current language level. Especially with how fast the interviewers talk and the language they use, that shit is intimidating for someone just learning lol.
I'm so honored to watch this one that Japanese hip hop artist came up in Hot 97,but everyone knows the problem is different language between Japanese and English.. And also I'm sad kohh couldn't explain his new album... But I know how hard Japanese people speak English If there was real translator,it would have been much better and awesome. Kohh eventually became world artist, this is great evidence, well done, I will support him as fan and one of Japanese person!!!!!!
He knows a little English and j stash has probably picked up a little Japanese after hanging with him for a while. Also he has someone around to translate. After a while you learn how to get past that language barrier.
I been listening to KOHH for a minute. He's got some cuts and even thought I don't know what he's saying his songs are fire. I'm waiting for him to do shows out here.
I love KOHH. I think he's such a cool and fresh guy with a new fresh look and style in his music. Also, I'm pretty tired of music from the US and UK. I mean, yeah guys you've got some really dope artists but the rest of the world does too, let them in! It's crazy that KOHH isn't a big star already - i've been following him for almost 2 years now.
Wish the volume was higher. I'm really hoping to see more of Kohh here in the USA. I listen to a lot of his Japanese music. He can really make it here even if he is only speaking Japanese.
This was cool to see them being interviewed but I wish they would have asked about Loota too and had a better rep for them so things could have been translated more clearly.
Awesome that they got Kohh, however it feels like such a missed opportunity. They are speaking too much, too quickly and using much far too difficult words and slang, for someone who doesn't really speak much English. How is he supposed to understand what they are asking him? Also, is that guy next to him supposed to be a translator? There is so much interesting stuff going on here in Japan and it would be great to see a a cultural exchange on a higher level.
Got to link them with Dipset, he loves the classic NY hip hop also ASAP. When he said Tommy Lee I forgot that Dancehall has a major impact in Japan and there's alot of Asian Carribean people too. When you leave the US you realize the world doesn't just revolve around the USA
he wants to interview people because he wants to know what they think and say. it doesn't matter if he is foreign or not. Ebro is interested and if he wants to know about him more and his culture you can't do shit about it

KOHH is most worldwide than all the rappers his generation. This guy can speak one of the hardest language in the world ! his talent took him to HOT 97 ! if you keep hating bring your local artist in a Tokyo interview . good luck
Laura did a good job on her own in this interview. Especially considering she was dealing with a person who doesn't understand the English language fully.
I saw him live at Rhymester in Tokyo and he brings the energy. So fucking good and so humble. He always thanked everyone after each song.... respect 会いたい! >.< 頑張ってKOHH~~~
@@kimberlyolaluvonce you chart your first song on billboard (at least in America) you are considered mainstream , that’s how it works for literally everybody.
Hey, HOT 97! I really appreciate this interview. I became a fan of KOHH last year when I saw him on "ITGMA." I have a bunch if rap and hip hop music from Asia on my UA-cam channel and Facebook page. If you want, you can check it out on my UA-cam profile or on Facebook (facebook.com/bowloframenmusic). I'm from Miami, so if he wants to do a show in New York, then he should do one here too lol.
It's unfortunate that he's not able to comprehend the questions because he clearly he doesn't understand English well and unable to have a conversation due to not having a translator . I feel he has the potential to become a worldwide artist and influence everyone with his music if only the language wasn't the barrier. I love Kohh even though I don't speak Japanese. Hopefully we are able to get translators so we can fully understand him as an artist .
I'm shocked they got Kohh, respect

Ngl it’s the hot97 way. I was so disappointed when they interviewed Koffee for the first time. Missed opportunity
Anyone watching after mamushi
My takeaway, first minute:…never seen kastone after all these years hearing him on the radio. Hes cute!
Makes me happy
Kohh talking about the drug use in japan is real kind made me realize how true it is. Im a brooklyn born japanese but i know my mom use to say my grandpa was into drugs deep and how he had a bad gambling problem and even dealt with the mafia.
Even now i still dont hear about that side of things but it is def there
japan only show good sides and japan is very good at hiding bad side of the country but overall japan is good country but it has many flaws.
Drugs and yakuza is regular stuff in Japan... If you live in Tokyo

I'm pretty sure that's kohhs friend....not the "translator"
He was Kohh's friend
Well hot 97 has spoken
Well then he needs new friends lol jk but I just really think this interview could have been so much better :-/
its awesome to see international artists digging each others styles so much and just respecting their music.

kohh's not high. he just does not speak English well.
"yeah, his father commited suicide and shit.."

"He Kills it"..... he really did. Kohhs verse on It G Ma is the best of the four I think. Amazing.

KOHH getting recognized more, that's crazy. My favorite song on Dirt II is Hate Me.
How does j stash chill with kohh all the time if hes not good in english lol
He knows a little English and j stash has probably picked up a little Japanese after hanging with him for a while. Also he has someone around to translate. After a while you learn how to get past that language barrier.
Wasn't j stash living in Japan for like a year or two? He hit his girl then moved to Japan.
he seems nervous, he's probably atleast conversational
J stash can speak his language to but kohh been known cause j stash
As someone who studies languages and I can tell you its a lot different talking to your homie vs doing an interview.
I been listening to KOHH for a minute. He's got some cuts and even thought I don't know what he's saying his songs are fire. I'm waiting for him to do shows out here.
it's crazy it took about 3 to 4 years for Kohh to be recognized in certain parts of America. Vice did it first if I'm not mistaken.

kohh is so soft and shy i love him sm
expected more from the interview but his music sounds fire AF... that Paris track🔥🔥🔥

I can't believe KOHH is at Hot 97... Respect
Why interview someone who doesn't understand English well enough to have a conversation? I don't see what the point of this was
They should've used the translator guy more
rofl yea he needs a translator clearly
The point was to put people one to KOHH. Music is has no language barriers
because it's called diverse content? the fuck, you think music is only made in america.
he wants to interview people because he wants to know what they think and say. it doesn't matter if he is foreign or not. Ebro is interested and if he wants to know about him more and his culture you can't do shit about it
