      By the way, as I think about it, the SSA-E might still be my favorite Geissele, and I need to remember to snag a few more the next time they run that deal. What do you think of the straight trigger bows? I bought the SD-E, and though it's an amazing trigger, I still don't like it as much as the classic SSA-E.

      I dont own any straight trigger bows. I own two ssa-e triggers, besides that it's been all milspec triggers for me. My BCM has a nice trigger, but it's not a whole lot better than the polished milsoec triggers from P.S.A.
      Anyhow, I've been extremely interested in the SD-E and flat bows in general. I've been told they make the trigger feel lighter, and I feel like you could really get some rapid shots off with one.
      I'd love for you to make a video comparing the ssa-e and the sd-e if you have time. Or even just a comment on your thoughts of the flat bow.

I personally don't think I'll have a problem with a light trigger but I don't plan on being in high anxiety situations with it. Most of my other parts including both recievers are Aero and a Faxon barrel. Thoughts?

      Nothing wrong with the Aero receivers. For the money they are nice and never fail.

    Thoughts on this for a 308 precision ar rifle? Don’t care for the single stage triggers like my velocity

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  4 роки тому +3

      I think the SSA-E would be a great choice for that application. Some of the longest shots I've made with an AR have been with one of these triggers. I'm not saying one can't shoot single-stage triggers really well -- my Tikka has an extremely nice single-stage -- but the two-stage really does help me. Triggers are very subjective, but if you're not liking the Velocity for long shots, I'd wager this would be to your liking. Being able to prep the shot and release at just the right moment, for me anyway, is the difference between a good shot, and a potentially great shot, assuming I don't suck that day. I hope that helps!

    • @RobF3024
      @RobF3024 4 роки тому +1

      @@thegunpenguin thanks for the reply. I've been up in the air between this trigger and their national match dmr setup for $279. Not sure 79 bucks would make a difference in quality from the ssae to the national match. My issue with the velocity Is bump firing and lack of knowing when the trigger is actually going to brake with the single stage

    • @thegunpenguin
      @thegunpenguin  4 роки тому +1

      @@RobF3024 Happy to help! Between those two, the National Match is going to offer adjustability, and no other real differences. You can tune it exactly to your liking, while the SSA-E is fixed. Because I love the SSA-E, and mostly only purchase those, I've never needed the adjustability, but if I needed to go lighter than the SSA-E, that's exactly the trigger I'd buy. The National Match is an outstanding trigger. There's no difference in quality between the two. The extra money pays for the added features. The break is of the same quality, along with the polish, the take up, the reset, and the feel of the face. It'll all be the same. I don't hesitate to recommend either one.

    I’ve used SSA-E for about a year now and even after becoming very familiar with the wall, I still feel that the second stage is so light that I am certain I would AD in an actual combat situation. I dry fire daily and shoot every two weeks, but it always breaks sooner than I anticipate the first time I pull the trigger each day. I think the extra pound of the SSA would be better for me.

      I’ve mostly shot just plain jane two stage USMC issued triggers in M16’s and M4’s and recently got an SSA for my personal rifle…. After dry firing it several time I though maybe they sent me an SSA-E and even checked the box to make sure it was in fact an SSA (which it was)…..but if the SSA-E is roughly 1lb less I can’t imagine how light it is!!
      ***edit*** so I got an SSA-E at Christmas time. They are very similar but, as described by Bill Geissele, the SSAE breaks so much like a glass rod than the SSA. Both triggers are great. @@DavidBrown-it9ig Do you mean the BEV Block thingy? That's the only block I've seen from MagPul, but maybe they make a clamshell I haven't seen, like the Wheeler one. The BEV block could stress an upper more than something like the Wheeler, only because you're sort of pressing or torqueing the upper against that block, versus the clamshells that lock down the upper completely. But, you're not guaranteed to have issue with the BEV, and lots of folks use them without issue. I would certainly use one, though I prefer the clamshells. While I'm at it, here's some unsolicited internet advice from some weirdo making videos: if this is your first time putting together an AR15, go slow, and if something feels weird, stop. Especially when you're installing the barrel. Anyhow, sorry, you probably know that. If you're moving slowly, the BEV block will work just fine.

      @thegunpenguin  3 роки тому +3

      @@gummybear41283 First of all, I want to compliment you for asking for help. Most folks just jump into these projects, and mess something up, be it the gun or their very expensive new trigger. If you haven't done this before, it can be daunting, and you have all the right concerns. Seriously, you're awesome!
      You'll need a good set of punches, preferably brass for this particular project, and a bench block. I like the Wheeler for small projects like this one. And most of all, you need patience. This project requires some very tedious work, where you hold tension on a spring, while lining up multiple pin holes and insert a lubed pin, all at once.
      Before you install the Geissele, if you have stripped lowers and parts kits that you never got around to assembling, do one of those first. It's better to experiment on some cheap mil-spec stuff before trying this with the Geissele. It'll also give you a good sense of how to install this kind of trigger. If you take the Geissele out of the pack, and it looks completely nuts to you, take it to a gunsmith, and pay the extra $35 or whatever they charge. It shouldn't be much more than that, and it's not worth messing up your lower or the new trigger.
      Anyhow, good luck, and let me know how it goes!

    Your trigger pins are a bit loose in your lower receiver. You can see it wobble as you're manipulating the trigger

      Though in all seriousness I appreciate this review.
      You went over more stuff, concerns and skill required than most other youtubers.

      @@TheRedArrowExpress I very much appreciate the kind words. Really, thank you. I tried to include info that I wasn't able to find when I was trigger shopping, hoping it might be helpful to someone else.

    LaRue is a much better trigger for half the price. Just put a SSA-E in my 12.5 and I'm returning it and putting the LaRue MBT2 back in lmao

      BDSM Horse is very judgmental, and rarely offers approval.
