Pub is short for public house and the social aspect came before the alcohol. They're a huge part of British society for better or worse and a huge part of many people's social lives
I live in a little town called Grimsby, about half way up the east coast. I pay £400 a month for a 3 bedroom house. Food here is also cheaper because of a lot of local produce. It's all a lot cheaper up north, London is not thr only choice...
@@stevewesley3841 Oh yes, and on a clear day you can admire the 8th wonder of the world that is the Humber Bridge. And if you're exceedingly lucky you might even spot a car on it.
Referring to Grimsby, two weeks ago, there was this headline in the Daily Telegraph: Revealed: Britain´s worklessness capital where more than half of adults claim benefits. That´s one reason why rents in Grimsby are so low. Grimsby´s fishing industry is, for several reasons, a shadow of its former self.
@@joesoy9185 we also have more takeaways per person than anywhere else in the county. The sad thing is that they choose to live on benefits, there are plenty of jobs but most of them are filled by migrants because they actually appreciate a chance to work. I think the rest of the towns economy is based on growing weed and selling it to each other....
Remember, as an overseas student, you play a vital role in the higher education system of the UK. You or your parents may be paying two or three times what the locals do. Many postgraduate courses will not be provided at all unless there are enough overseas students to pay for the staff and facilities. However, overseas students are included in the statistics of the number of foreigners, which right-wing politicians shout about, so the immigration service tries to deport as many as it can.
Never ever say awesome as the British hate it because it's used far far to much ( mostly Americans ) and it's totally lost its meaning . Look up on UA-cam for American students in the UK and London is very expensive and the further north you go the cheaper it is and more friendly the people . Please smile babe it doesn't hurt to do so
Nice brief vid. We say sorry to keep things civil. You wouldn't like us when we are aren't.
You Can get Food from all around the World in any City in Britain but especially in London.
I think that's a very fair and comprehensive guide. You are obviously getting to know us very well.
