Just for what its worth, at 2:37 that is not an exhaust. There is no exhaust except for the compressed air outlet on electrically driven air compressors. That is an air inlet filter for that piston, and appears to be the Solberg design or at least similar to it.

I am in the market for a compressors. I am also a novice and I want one that can handle more than just filling air in the tires. You use a 3/8 inch line with an air wrench, which was one thing no one seemed to explain about hose sizes and their limitations or capabilities. This unit looks like a good purchase for me. Good video and thanks! Still a bit confusing but I will learn!
Hey thanks a lot for the video, I really appreciate your work here! You also made me realise that maximum pressure is also important! On a side note, your calculation is slightly wrong since you have to use absolute pressure, but the compressor gives you gauge pressure, so you have to add 175+14.7. For all intents and purposes it doesn't really matter but hey it can't hurt to use the formula correctly :)
Wow! Your super in-depth review has sold me on this air compressor! Well, the fact that it's indeed 80% quieter than the competition truly sold me. I was about to purchase that 6 GAL pancake-style compressor, but Jesus Christ, I'm glad I didn't! that thing is super loud and would've immediately turned me off to it. Thanks again for the 1000/10 review!
This is a comment I've left on other reviews, except you didn't show haw quiet or loud it is. For what it's worth - Jan 2025 I just bought one. 1) It's MUCH quieter than it seems in the video. I can barely hear it from the room next to (joined to) my garage. If you keep it out of a corner it's even better. 2) It accepts T or M style air hose fittings. 3) It fills very quickly, you can start topping off tires in less than a minute - I'm telling you it's quick. 4) The red handle adjusters/tension clamps are crap. They won't go any tighter and still do not lock the handle adequately. I may try a piece of paper around the inside of the clamp. If it helps I'll make a permanent shim 5) The wheels are attached to the Husky, you don't install them. This means they are very small so as to fit in the nicely trim & sleek packaging. This means smooth pavement is OK but anything else is a hassle. 6) The power cord is too friggin' short 😁so expect to need an extension cord. 6) The black control panel makes a lacka-lacka-lacka-lacka-lacka rattling noise that only stops when you push on it really hard. Tightening & loosening fasteners didn't help. it's not loud but it's there. 7) The power switch is a bit lame. It's shaped like a mushroom: pull it out for on, push it in for off. The rim around the head of the "mushroom" is too small, in fact the whole button is about a third or half the size that would make it very nice. I paid $219.99 USD early Jan of 2025, what the hell do you expect for that much money. Hell, it's even got a place to wrap the power cord, with room for a longer one.
I noticed the Porter Cable compressor did run around a little bit from vibration & the Husky did not run around because the vibrations are isolated by the rubber feet.
I have a vending machines, would you recommend this air compressor for cleaning?? basically just need to air the compressor unit below, dust off the machine.
Have you tried any HVLP paint guns with this compressor? I'm thinking of getting one of these and a spray gun to paint some custom furniture projects. The gun I have in mind says it needs 4.0 scfm @ 40psi. Does this compressor deliver that even if it's clicked on?
yeah the flexible air hoses are the number one hose if you like your air hoses full of holes. they puncture so easily. also when they are full of air they are not vary friendly to roll up. I don't recommend. I want to like them so badly because the name is awesome and they look cool but don't like buy products that cant handle the construction site as well as woman and children. (she drives over anything and anything in her way and the kids are well they kids and if it can be broken and destroyed chances are its a goner if they get their grubby little sticky mitts on it. (cant be mad because they are so darn cute. and she would be kicked to the curb if she wasn't so damn sexy.)a
Everything has advantages and disadvanages. I prefer a lighter, more flexible hose that may also be less durable. Other people might like it the other way around.
You all make good points. I agree for us regular folk using something non-impact would extend the service life and possibly prevent costly repairs. And for professional racers, the speed of impact tools is a necessity, so replacing lugs or studs regularly is just part of the costs of admission. Our parent company ran the 78 car (NASCAR) a few blocks from where I worked, the cars get pretty heavily worked over after each race. I enjoyed the video, thanks for posting it. I did cringe a bit when you used the nail gun. I wouldn't trust myself without steel toes on shooting them into that narrow beam.

Hose size is important. A 1/4" line will turn an air wrench, but won't spin it up enough to actually do much work.

Same!
How do I turn it down for my 90 psi tool. Im turning the reg knob off to minus but it keeps running back up to 175.
Sold me buddy! Thank you sir!!

Very well done!

The Porter Cable "taking a walk" every time it runs has been annoying me for about 10 years now.
Nice review!
I would be curious with the small tanks how well this would work in blowing out sprinklers.
Likely depends on the size of the irrigation system.
@@aaronstestlab I
Keep in mind you could also add an auxiliary tank if you found you needed more air to get it done.
Is it good for painting ?
Is this compressor still running g well? It looks perfect for my uses. Thanks for the video.
Yes, it is
What size extension cord would you recommend
I added a 7 gallon Kobalt reserve tank to mine it holds air a lot better now
Same here 11 gallon har frt works great
I have a vending machines, would you recommend this air compressor for cleaning?? basically just need to air the compressor unit below, dust off the machine.
So long as you have a reliable 110v power source handy it would work very well. And it wouldn't disturb local patrons due to being very quite.
Did you have to do anything to it prior to cranking it up? Just pulled it out the box and that was it?
That was it
Manual says to olen rhe tanks and run for 10min for a “break in phase” FYI I like it so far
help with trouble shooting?
I have one like that but it quits working on me I need to know we're is the fuse so I can replace please help me thank you
Mine has a reset button.Take a look and see if yours does as well.I thought it was a fuse too when it shut off
Would this compressor be fine to run a air ratchet once in a while ?
No problem
Incorrigible Aaron I just got this compressor today for 160$ an It blew my mind when I turned it on it’s more quiet in person then on video
@@kamryn7496 how you get it for $160 used?
xCALIWEBKINGx SNFx some one on the Facebook market place sold it new in box for 160
I called customer service today and they said the fittings are 1/4 inch for the air hose. Yours on Amazon is 3/8?
I know it is a long time since the review but can you answer my question so i can get the right air hose
Anyone check and see what the power draw is?
just got one...can i buy the m connect at home depot or harbor freight.??
don't see why not...they're pretty common
Any long term update on this unit? Reliability and issues?
No problem so far
Thanks
I bought it and couldn't find the ball valve they told me to open.
I don’t remember. It’s been awhile since I reviewed this.
@aaronstestlab I found it. It's under the bottom tank on the right side. A small red valve knob.
How much cfm have

Runs 3cfm@90, probably a bit more at 40. Intermittent HVLP is probably fine. Heavy use I'd go with a bigger compressor or purpose-built HVLP blower.
I love this compressor but cant see how to oil it
Its oil-less
Mine quit working. Did a 1/4 of my roof and it quit.
That's unfortunate timing
Are these oiless?
Yes
Muffler? Nope... that’s the air intake.
yes, is an air filter.
The older I get the more Ill pay for lighter shit
Tell me about it! Pulling heavy ish is for the birds!!!

"On the right hand side of the unit we see a muffler on the exhaust." Aaron really knows his stuff, NOT. That's an air filter, not an exhaust muffler.
Feel better?
@@aaronstestlab Well, you said it, not me!
Gives me engineer vibes
NEVER put a lug nut on with an air impact gun
You should impart your wisdom on racing pit crews around the world
Should use a torque stick they are great!

Tell that to literally every mechanic ever.
