My grandson James treated us to tickets for the Keane concert at the co-op arena in manchester last night! What an amazing live gig it was ! One of the best gigs I have ever been to and the band were amazing and Tom Chaplin's voice was up in the heavens! We have been fans since the HOPES AND FEARS album was released in 2004 ! I'll never forget that night with you JAMES! Thankyou from my heart! And the songs well what more can I say!

Amazing night. Event went perfectly, venue was great, got in with no problems from being right at the back to taking 10m to get in the lathums and keane ❤ 🎉🎉

    It was a great night.
First time in the coop arena. I was really surprised how poorly everything was organised. We were in a 45 minute queue outside to get in. Luckily it didn’t rain. Missed the Lathums completely.
Terrible arena to get out of in an emergency. No emergency exit sign, narrow and steep exits. Sharp contrast to, say, the Liverpool arena where you can get everyone out within a few minutes. Took us 20 minutes to get out. Really surprising that the new Arena was built like that.

Yep - great performance let down by the venue. Absolute headache.

I was there too with my 71 year old mum. Completely agree. Piss poor. Would never go there again. A few bits were quite dangerous for her really. I had to really hold her so she didn't fall in the arena getting to the seats and having a 71 year old with hip replacements and arthritis having to snake that massive queue was a joke. I saw disabled people struggling all over the show.
I wasn't impressed with Keanes production, or the co-op. The performance was fine but I would expect to pay half the ticket price for what was a very penny pinching stage production. If it's just a case of go and watch them sing with no bells and whistles (which it was), the price was far too high. Lazy show. Probably the worst concert I've been to. It was still really good but bottom of the pile against other concerts I've been to.
I think some people are blinded by love of the band. Ticket sales would generate £2mil+ and that was not a £2mil production.
I went to World of Hans Zimmer at the AO a few months back, which would have generated similar money to this and the production was miles better. Better staging, lighting, better everything. This Keane concert felt like a cash grab to me. Other than the huge party popper thing they let off about 3/4 through, it had nothing extra. Flat stage, white stage and huge white screens which detracted from the band, basic lighting, terrible camera screens for those at the back, which fortunately I wasn't. The animations on the stage screens were like a 1st year college project. And that might be insulting to 1st year animators.
Hans Zimmer had multi level professionally lit staging. Massive screen with good visuals. Part of the screens moved to reveal 3 tier scaffolds with a choir on the scaffolds, there was good lighting, pyrotechnics. It felt like a £2mil concert. Keane felt like a £250K concert with a £2mil price tag.

@@buddhabinaural I completely agree with all your great points. I was there with my 83 year old Mum. We live down south and got caught up with the shambles of this arena back in May or whenever it was. Travel costs and hassle with a 83 year old. We were determined to take her and as some kind of a way of making it up to her, I emailed Keanes management to see if they would allow her to meet Tom. They sadly declined the opportunity to make up for the shambles. I do understand but what a great piece of PR missed and to build bridges for us anyway…they also took a week to respond. Anyway.
We finally got our seats…top dollar for “ten rows from the front “….from the front of what?? The standing area….she didn’t see a thing and at times was a little frightened by it all.
Oh well, at least we had a tote bag, lanyard (that didn’t get you anything), a poster so flimsy it was embarrassing (and creased before we got it), and some postcards. That’s the VIP package for you.
I actually agree too about the stage set…..I swear it’s no different from 2007 when I saw them at the 02. Cmon management ….you can do better than that……it was lazy and frankly one dimensional. The band are clearly making a great comeback, good on them….but make more of an effort.
And the venue (not the bands fault) we arrived late because of our UBER driver (7.45) and how everyone got in I will never know. I wouldn’t got there again…..ever.
