The weight gain is understated as rear seats were deleted.
I appreciate the fact that they keep engineering the 911 to stay fun and relevant. I’m a manual guy and own a 991.2 and a 992 Targa GTS. I’m sad to see it go but understand they had no choice. It’s not them taking it away from us. It’s the relentless pursuit of emission standards that keep taking things away from us that we love.
Actually no, you got it all wrong. Emissions requirements did not make them eliminate the manual transmission, it was a decision made by corporate.
Faster laps require elimination of manual. Keep the manual for enjoyment get the new one for laps.
Exactly. I’m getting really tired of the Left pushing the climate change agenda
Massive increase in torque and overall performance while moving to a 3.6 engine with one big turbo also engine more than 4 inches lowerso better centre of gravity seriously just getting so much more it's closer to a holy trinity car. Anyone finding fault with this awesome new car is clearly a serial complainer.
I suspect you feel that way about most people that disagree with you on any subject.
They will still make 911 variants with Manual transmissions, they wont be hybrids or likely the more impressive ones. They'll charge more for less, and the buyers will be glad to overpay to shift their own gears. If you want a "cheaper" 911 manual get the current or earlier one.
Love it or hate it, this is the new standard. Technology saves the 911 again.
Shows why Porsche is the gold standard of premium sports cars. Can’t wait to get one!
The 911 is no longer a sports car. It has finally fully transitioned into a luxury GT coupe
Back in 1974, we were all excited about turbocharging... not so much about losing the central tachometer and the key on the left... not to mention losing the turn signal below the headlights.
They have taken the back seats out which weigh 20kg and have added light weight glass which saves another 10kg, so actually it would be 80kg heavier if kitted out the same as the 992.1, which you would definitely feel as would be like having a passenger in the car 😬
Yeah, but the hybrid-system accounts only for 50 kilos as the base 911 got heavier without the hybrid system too. The lightweight glass is still optional and saves over 4kg
They have 1000 models, make at least 1 a manual. If I wanted to go 0-60, I’d buy a Plaid.
thats impossible with that t-hybrid technology, get a 992.1 if you want a manual
i can't wait to see 992.2 Turbo S performance hybrid eating SF90 for breakfast
Sadly, new Porsche is not on my list anymore.
Give me used one with 6mt
I just accepted delivery on a 992.1 (now) Carrera - and I still love the less aggressive look I got, and the center dash dial. In terms of an investment, the base price continues to climb at this rate when the base gets the hybrid turbo - the increase should be an additional 10K from what it is now - figuring at least 1-2 years out.
Great overview, thanks.....!
Ofc they're following bmw and Mercedes because shitty unreliable transmission will make more money for them because rich people can rebuy a new one of their models again and again and again but ofc enthusiasts will all be against that since they don't build cars for their fans anymore but for rich snobs
The hybrid zf transmission is reliable af, they are used in the 320e/330e (that are a lot of the time fleet vehicles) and they are pretty good
@@wuiss__._ Misinformation about new tech, is how they trick people into buying old, unreliable junk at high prices. Been hearing stickshifts and v8s are dissapearing for 10+years!
With current technology you guys should do an episode on HTG and other companies offfering clutch by wire to add a 3rd pedal on a lot of cars. They started out converting auto supras to DCT bmw and have evolved. You can add a third pedal to damn near anything now that has a clutch
So now we are left with an automatic 'PDK' transmission that does all the shifting for us, goofy rear steering axle as standard that nobody wants, a digital screen without the cool tachometer, a dopey Braun shaver on the center console and a cup holder that came off the shelf at AutoZone. Seriously? Might as well just drive a Prius at this point.
All this new tech will make these impossible to keep on the road in 10 years.
the current 911 "hybrid" model is merely the second-to-last step before porsche/volkswagen goes all-electric with the whole 911 line-up.
I’m excited to see when this technology is adopted by the rest of Porsche’s line up including SUVs and sedans.
Nice idea
Very optimistic about the GTS’s new tech. Even with this new hybrid tech, Porsche always know what’s needed to make the 911 great. Only thing I don’t like on the new GTS is the vertical front slats - the front of the base Carrera looks much better.
I guess Id prefer hybrid to turbocharged. Hopefully its not both.
Every video says the new hybrid model reduces carbon footprint…sounds great but how much is it reducing compared to the old version? It’s clear we have faster and more torque and horse power…but No one has a single number or relative figure to give on how much more efficient the car is in terms of pollution? Is this enough to stop electrifying the car like a Prius?…we all know VW has been not entirely honest before when it comes to emissions, I like to know what this new engine is capable of in terms of emissions? As far as i know the new GTS emissions are higher than the precious 992.1 model.
This is the first new 911 thats made me actually interested in the car.
@realherobrine5636 smh 🤦. And apparently, you must be illiterate.
So what point am I missing being that this is MY opinion?
Unmodified new 911's bore 😴 😪 😑 me to sleep. The same way a Toyota Corolla does. Great engineering, boring as piss.
911s that do catch my attention are retromod cars. Singers, the 911K, and manual electric 911 for example.
@@Turshin You're more than welcome to your opinion, but to be interested in a hybrid 911, you must not know very much about cars or the reason why enthusiasts want a 911. Read a car magazine or watch a Petrolicious video and get a clue.
I’m convinced Porsche is doing - if not the right thing - what it’s gotta do with the 911 as far as emission regulations are concerned. No choice there. All this is fine for the GTS , no doubt the S upgraded version yet to be revealed, and the Turbo versions which will no doubt be absolute missiles. My only fear is what will it be with the GT3 versions and what future for the manual gearbox so far unavailable on the 992.2 GTS. Unfortunately progress does sometimes (and paradoxically) has its shortcomings 😎
This is not hybridization, this is electrification it's been going on for more than a decade in supercar territory. If you have a channel that talks about cars at least you should know the basics.
No manual??
The day Porsche ends the manual transmission is the killshot for the clutch pedal in the industry. Sad.
They should still offer a manual transmission, everything else is fine. Well, I'd like to be able to toggle the RWS to see if it makes a difference FOR ME.
It's the same tech in the E-Ray Vett
not at all, e-ray is natural hybrid. active areo, electronic assisted turbo and drive train is different.
FOURTY THOUSAND euro for a fancy battery and (barely) faster 0-60. Let that sink in. + no manual, great uhuuuu!!
You Go Porsche!
Bruh it's a 25kg battery and even has a bigger engine
im mad that they dropped the manual transmission
992.1 carrera also didnt have a manual im pretty sure. Surely they will make special editions w manuals. 992.1 had the carrera T for example
@@frbdconsulting992.1 Carrera never came in manual, it was available on the S, the T, GTS models and GT3 models.
Let’s face it, normally aspirated ice vehicles are a thing of the past. Heck, even my wife drives a hybrid, and to her a car is an appliance. Porsche being a yardstick for future technology of performance and efficiency, take notice. It’s nice that the profile of the 911 is still instantly recognizable. Nice work.
ICE will out live unsustainable hybrid/electric. There's way more easily available oil than lithium and silver. Oil is not going away.
I don’t know that nor do you. I constantly argue with my little liberal friends who absolutely insist everything will be electric by 2035. We can already tell that’s not going to happen. Meanwhile, hybrid technology seems to do pretty well getting better mileage. I own one. The hybrid engine in my Lexus is awesome. But it’s not a sports car. I’m sure that 50 years from now there will be a mixture of all three types of technology with a couple of other ones thrown in there as well. Hopefully we can all agree to get government out of these decisions.
@@BrettL250 yeah, the technology is not there yet. And few want EVs because the resale value is so bad - they’ll need to make swapping batteries about as easy as changing the battery in a remote control. I think we’ll get there but it may be 30 years or so - we are still in the infancy of the technology but it’s coming along quickly.
@@Encourageable battery technology is definitely a problem as you mentioned. Not just changing them but charging times. But the biggest problem by far is infrastructure. There’s no way they’re going to have that fixed in 30 years. It took them 10+ years just to rebuild a tower in New York City. We will need millions of charging stations installed everywhere, including apartment complexes, hotels, shopping, malls, etc. Also getting back to your battery challenges where do you suppose they’re going to mine all the materials required for today’s batteries? That’s a massive problem. I think they might come up with a new technology for sure on that but only time will tell. Either way it shouldn’t be dumbass governments telling us how to do this. It should be the market that determines the direction we go.
How about you download the b-roll in 240p for the next video? Then it would look even worse than it does now.
No manual is a dealbreaker for me and the word hybrid is a buzzkill but I’ll keep an open mind.
do I have to buy 10 other cars just to buy this?
No manual transmission on ANY 2025 Carrera?
Despite the numbers, the 911 is no longer an aspirational sports car. 🚫911🚫
110lb heavier?
19 seconds and 55 seconds
This is going to be in the bew gt2rs and its going to be so fucking fast
The 992.1 is a lot more desirable than the hybrid one. Who cares the increase in power or torque. The 992.1 is more than fast and quick. Matter of fact, too fast takes away the joy of driving. I think you're full of it.
PORSCHE =OVERPRICED AF
So they increased the cost of buying and maintaining it massively, the complexity has created an operational nightmare; all to please their gods of the climate hoax. I know the EU regulators are driving a lot of this but Porsche leadership has gone fully woke and happily seeks to ram green down the throats of its customers. I’ve bought 5 Porsches so far,all new, but if they don’t have a pure offering for 911 turbo then I’m out permanently. They could have achieved all the performance improvements without the EV madness, but again they are woke. Just look at the Porsche reps little white shoes as he pretends to be Apple’s Tim Cook…sickening.
“Porsche 919” dude, you should quit.
Every generation is worse. Porsche is completely misunderstanding the target market for 911 and every generation becomes more like a Tesla. All this tech both engine and infotaintment is useless to me. I want a good engine sound and a steong connection with the car...and def not a push start button and a digital dash. 911 owners want a 911 not a Tesla. I have had every generation since 997.1 and peak was probably 997.2.
boring looking, and expensive as hell. oh you want a garage door opener? extra. oh you need memory seats? extra. these things sound like poo, owned 3 911s all snoozers and they were NA, they get boring very quickly. nothing exciting about these.
Still slower than my Cybwetruck 0-60
It’s not the hybrid that upsets me, it is the price. For a modestly spec’d GTS, you can get Ferrari 488, or a 675LT with way more power and soul. Porsche prices have become ridiculous.
Oh just stop lying. Neither of those cars are sub 200. You’re not in the market so pipe down.
@@tomshelly1 U too pops down
