I kinda feel bad for Ted Bundy’s daughter. Imagine the hate and slander she gets everyday for being Ted Bundy’s daughter. It’s not her fault she was born to be his daughter or her fault for HIS actions. Heart goes out to her.
It is really sad when people do that. It's super messed up how people will attack their family members. Our even when they get mad at the parents for crying and being upset when their child is sentenced to life. Yes, what their child did is unforgivable, but they are still their child. They can know what they did was horrible and still mourn for them. My dad abused me when I was little and I was still devastated when he died. I mourned the person he could have been if he hadn't been so broken himself. Sorry to get so personal I just wanted to express that I understand what the parents go through from personal experience and not just guessing.
i feel like its kinda similar to trumps youngest son. He's basically still a kid yet people are trying to take him away from his parents because they ''feel bad that he has to have them as parents'' or else act as if hes just like them. I love the Ted Bundy verse. I hate when I watch true crime and they go on and on about how ‘intelligent’ the killer was, it just eggs on the serial killer fan base, and makes copy cats more likely.
Because he was intelligent he had an IQ of 136 he was extremely intelligent. But we’re the cops also a bunch of morons yes , yes they were so that also gave him a big advantage.
@@Yes_king6973 He wasn’t even “extremely intelligent”, he was above average but that’s not genius level. Either way, I never disputed his intelligence. @@Yes_king6973 I’m on about now, when you watch true crime or see documentaries it’s always overly addressed. But the media back in the day didn’t think he was capable because they thought he was too attractive and smart to commit such crimes… like I said, these ideologies being reiterated encourages fan bases to form.
Somehow this makes me think of all the “last victims” who survived. Quick wits and courage helped them survive, and not only that, the motivation to stop their games. Because they know they can’t or won’t be the only one. The ones before them put their hope and spirit into the adjoining victims to survive. I remember the story of a 15 yo hitchhiker who got both her arms chopped off, she played dead, got thrown off of a cliff, and knew she had to survive. She waited until he left for good, and packed her wounds. She didn’t sleep because she knew she would die, and I honestly believe that somehow the spirits of all the women before her helped her to climb back up to the road. “She had every right, you just caught her off guard tonight.” Don’t go with someone to a second location. Don’t just allow them to take you. Fight. Even if you die, get their dna under your damn fingernails. Make sure cleanup is messy. Fuck em up. They don’t deserve the satisfaction of an easy kill.
Often luck. Quick wits, courage, motivation, only gets you so far. It's not that the other victims didn't have the 'motivation' to live or stop a killer. It's not that they weren't brave. It's not that they were slow. That's the point of 'She had every right, you just caught her off guard tonight, and the only advantage a killer has is that they think they have the right.' You can be the biggest badass on the planet, it's not going to help you when you're sitting in a library, reading a book, and some absolute twat thinks he has the right to shove a knife into your neck and keep stabbing until your lungs are full of your own blood. Those who escape? They're awesome sure. But lets be careful we don't insult the victims who didn't get away to praise them. That kind of language seeps into everything, even illness. 'She got cancer at 23 but her motivation to live kept her going!', no, it's a lot of luck, and a lot of medical intervention. The motivation is commendable. But it also implies the other girl who got cancer at 23 and didn't live, just didn't have enough motivation to live.
the part where she says that listening to true crime has "girl talk vibes" is so deep. its kinda like how women are really big targets in the society we live in, so the true crime is girl talk about that in a way

Yeah, the media and police just called him really smart in interviews and all that because they wanted to cover up their own stupidity. They made so many blunders while investigating these cases and they couldn't let the public know that because they'd made asses of themselves.
But he wasn't some kind of evil genius, he was definitely below average in terms of intelligence. One of the main reasons it took so long to catch him was because he came off as relatively unassuming and could kind of blend in. And he was white, so not subject to racist stereotypes of POC being more violent and likely to be criminals. As she said, he was just kind of charismatic and white, and not much else. @@Yes_king6973 I see it more as stopping the trend of idolizing serial killers as absolute geniuses that are above all and have far superior minds than ours for getting away with murder (even if they got caught in the end). Which shamefully it’s really common on the true crime community.
@@scarlett_eve9324 I see your point , but to call serial killers stupid is well ignorant. Ted bundy had an IQ of 134 or 136 , ed kemper had an IQ of 145 and so did dahmer . The killers that didn’t have insanely high IQs like BTK and green river killer were still tricky mother fuckers .
@@Yes_king6973 oh yeah i agree 100%, they aren’t stupid but they aren’t godlike, and I think that the song it’s trying to portray that (since she just clarifies he isn’t a GENIUS). Talking about Ted Bundy specifically, he was smart and somewhat charming, but he wasn’t the best serial killer, he was really sloppy and the portrayal of him being a mastermind was just encouraged by the police to cover the myriad mistakes they made on the investigation, which is another thing the song might be wanting to reference too. Sorry if these comments are too long, I just love going on tangents lmao.

1:18 i always get shivers on this part, sometimes about the raspy bass boosted voice and the high pitched-ish voice blending together so perfectly literally scratches the best part of my brain
If someone tells you their hero is a serial killer, that’s a sign that you need to get far far away from them. I understand the interest in someone like that, but to idolize someone who kills for fun is a red flag.
@@bgarcia6944 Absolutely it is, to the point that when I found out I was scheduled to work a closing shift with only that manager and one other person I was seriously considering quitting for my own safety. Luckily the next day I came into work and he was no longer our manager. Everyone was very happy and literally no one was sorry to see him go. As soon as the assistant store manager left from giving us the “bad news” we had a mini celebration in the kitchen.
The ironic thing is that the song is criticising the romanticisation of serial killers and mocking serial killers so idk where those ppl woulda come from lmfao
omfg I always thought from 2:10 - 2:25 it was “ One of our young turned up last night , They found their body but not their hearts. Somebody new must’ve gone back , where’s the lord to take care of that? “
It’s an illusion your ears make! I dunno what it’s called but I can make it sound like hearts, eyes, and then I figured out I can make it sound like heyes. It just depends on the pitch you listen to! So yeah
this song isn't just about the romanticisation of serial killers, it's about how a lot of true crime fans overestimate themselves. take the lyrics "Ya' know, Dennis Rader and David Parker Ray actually sit together in Hell / Shaking, quaking, terrified that one day, somehow, someway / They might meet me" for example - she's satirizing how many true crime fans will act like they're experts on the subject with the idea that two literal serial killers would be afraid of a teenager who listens to podcasts.
I get that it can be interpreted that way, but in my opinion this part of the lyrics is more complementary to when she sings “She could’ve killed you She had every right You just caught her off guard tonight But it’s alright She’ll be fine” The singer is saying that those murders are afraid because the advantage they had is taken by her.
@@Sprout8467 Well, every song is up to interpretation, but the fact that she's constantly making fun of true crime tropes throughout the song, such as the idea Ted Bundy was super intelligent and charismatic and attractive, and that murder and pain is just quirky "girl talk". In fact even her singing tone sounds sardonic and sarcastic throughout, but especially when she sings "I listen to a lotta true crime", like the way some people think they're really quirky and unique for other humans misery and pain being their entertaining hobby.

Think this song is about (mainly) female obsession with true crime in an attempt to protect themselves from a epidemic society refuses to acknowledge/take seriously - i.e. violence (especially against women) / normalized sexual assault (especially against women) -- think catcalling, blaming girls for the clothes their wearing or their location when they are harmed. How a lot of girls will have a casual obsession with true crime, in an effort to equip there selves, to know the dangers - as no one else will protect them. It's sad. think the last line "we'll be just fine, we listen to a lot of true crime." is quite clearly sarcastic and is asking society at large to do more protect "our girls" from the danger they face every day.
I hadn't thought of it that way, you are definitely right, makes a lot of sense. I love true crime and I can relate subconciously, one has to endure with men ( particularly in the gore and true crime scene ) that trivialize women suffering.
I think it’s to an extent an empowerment as well. Amidst the level of “get his DNA under your fucking nails” level. We need to be fucking mad, and we can’t just take it lying down. If he tells you to be quiet, scream, don’t go anywhere with someone who is threatening you. Bite, scratch, and make it messy. A messy cleanup isn’t something he can easily hide. Your blood on my teeth won’t be easy to keep under the radar when I’m found.
This is why I'm wary of men and try to be near other people just in case. Always lock your car door right when you get in even if you're just gonna sit there for a bit. Also check your backseat before you get in. And check your surroundings before approaching your vehicle. Keep your pepper spray/taser on you when approaching your vehicle in case someone tries to jump you. If you carry make sure your firearm is easily accessible and that you know how to use the safety/load/fire the thing. If you have a knife I wouldn't even let them know I have it until they feel it in the gut/neck. If they're targeting you, then they forfeit the right to back out.
You know what's more messed up? I saw a whole comment thread of girls who wanted to be kidnapped.. so they can be "loved" by the kidnapper. When asked what happens if they abuse you or worse.. they said "it doesn't matter as long as he loves and cares for me at the same time". More than mad.. I was so concerned. They all had one thing in common.. they read mangas and watch shows about a "yandere kidnapping" (most of them are pure thriller and about awareness but the fandoms romanticized them all)
I think part of it was the whole, everyone being overprotective of you too. Don't go out late at night alone, don't go into alleyways, don't walk too close to alley openings either, don't walk near cars, make sure to take 4 lefts to check if someone is following you ect. A lot of women are conditioned to assume the worst will happen if they let down their guard at any moment

POV: Your friend group all goes missing one by one except you. you go on a road trip to a different state to escape the stress and hopefully not get taken. on the way you write (or sing) this song
It reminds me of when I was watching Mind Hunter and looking into the similarities and differences. Oddly enough it was Ed Kemper who basically brought up how the way they thought about serial killers was utelizing the survivor fallacy. Everything we think we know about what they’re “normally like” actually only really tells us about what the killers who get caught are normally like. We really have no idea what the traits of someone who consistently gets away with it would be. Kemper himself said that he “only got caught because he wanted to” and from looking into the story he’s probably right, he wasn’t even close to being a suspect for ANYTHING he did and was good friends with law enforcement. It’s chilling to think about how many completely un detected killers are probably out there. How many Ed Kemper are out there who DIDNT choose to turn themselves in and will die free men.
If they were smart they would know that you can’t kill and easily get away with it. I’m glad that nowadays the rule is “get his DNA under your goddamn fingernails at least” as what to do if you end up in this situation. Honestly I’m terrified sometimes that some dude with a knife is gonna stab me when I’m walking the 15ft to my car early mornings. I hate feeling that way.
@@miaironstone6783 this is why we need to teach everyone the 3 basic rules, scream, don’t go to a second location, and scratch/bite. You want to at least have as much of his dna on you as possible if you end up dead. Take pictures of license plates or the killer/kidnapper if you can. Most people have it save to the “cloud” automatically so even if your phone gets destroyed, any extra electronics you have can be cracked and photos can be found. If you fight hard there’s bound to be something they don’t get. No one is perfectly smart enough to win against all that.

@Skinny Manifesto show me where i was bragging about it? i just find them interesting, and was a bit annoyed at my sister. and wow, judging my intelligence based off of one single comment? congratulations.
I feel like true crime IS a girly phase. Especially since some of it can be attributed to girls worried about their own safety and using true crime as a safe outlet/research, hence the girl talk line here.
Even girly girls like Taylor Swift loved and still love true crime. Idk how its a "im not like other girls" thing just because its not pink and polished
A lot of people are saying it’s a phase, but I personally don’t think it’s a phase for me. I don’t use read or watch true crime cases for my safety. I watch/read them because I find it interesting.

@@ania519 I literally had all of that except the arguing parents, and although I'm sorta aggressive on impulse sometimes due to my head injury and traumas, I would never think of killing or harming someone seriously or any of that lol. Whatever the murderer/rapist did was entirely on them, whether people like it or not. They love to try and justify it but they still had the capacity to tell someone and try to better their lives, they just chose not to. They weren't stupid, they had high IQs and were described as generally intelligent, so they were told that people didn't understand them so they couldn't help them, but that's a lie. People can understand them and help them, but they again chose not to get help, and the people who were supposed to give it to them didn't actively try to help them. Having a healthy support system makes all the difference and it's sad that people don't realize that. I don't think people even understand what that means: a support system also includes yourself. My teachers and parents loved me and helped me through my struggles and that was what made all the difference for me. The people in these killers' life ostracized them, yes, but these people also had a chance to truly love themselves, worry about themselves, care about themselves, and seek to understand themselves in a non-destructive way. If they didn't take it, again, that's on them.
@@xsweetiebloomx605 true, they could've gotten help but they never did and everything they did was their fault in the end, no matter how people/events influenced them I do think we should pay more attention to their life before their crimes though and see how that ties in, people say there was no way to tell something was wrong, that it came out of nowhere, that they mustve been born evil, ect but thats often false. Something definitely happened to just tip them over the edge, (yeah some of them were born like that but it probably wouldn't have gotten to that point otherwise). Wether thats abuse, mental illness trauma or a head injury that messed with their brain, something happened. So people should really see how that ties in and keep that in mind, without creating any empathy for the killer in question of course It could also help with future research ect but yeah

I kinda feel bad for Ted Bundy’s daughter. Imagine the hate and slander she gets everyday for being Ted Bundy’s daughter. It’s not her fault she was born to be his daughter or her fault for HIS actions. Heart goes out to her.
Yeah but I have read that she changed her name so I think nearly no one knows who she really is. That doesn't make it a any better, though
Like imagine how it must feel to have thousands of people campaigning to have you taken from your parents? I fucking hate trump but baron is a CHILD. I honestly dont know much abt him but like cmon guys
Yeah
i couldn't imagine anyone in their right mind ever being mean to her or Ted's ex girlfriend (the one who turned him in not the one who started dating him in jail) because both of them probably have so much trauma just from being connected to him. In mind they are victims of him too.

I just stated that true crime channels stating serial killers are extremely intelligent, handsome etc. Over and over, Just encourage copy cat killers. But yeh I agree, the police did a bad job; had they done their job he’d have been caught much sooner.
@@09lealily average in the US is 100 if I’m not mistakes . Anything over 140 is considered genius level. He had 136 so while he wasn’t necessarily considered a genius he was extremely intelligent . Though he was lasso extremely narcissistic and a serial killers weakness is his own ego .
@@09lealily it wasn’t just true crime channels saying that . Women genuinely thought he was a charming man . I mean for fuck sake when he was on trial for murder they were saying he was innocent.
“She had every right, you just caught her off guard tonight.”
Don’t go with someone to a second location.
But it also implies the other girl who got cancer at 23 and didn't live, just didn't have enough motivation to live.

fun fact; this isn’t a song dissing ted. she’s trying to explain how ted wasn’t smart but the police were just stupid.
I'm glad he didn't live to see any of the '90s 🤷♀️

It’s bc, a lot of killers for some reason like to keep skulls or the eyes of victims as like, a “souvenir”. Pretty gross.
this song isn't just about the romanticisation of serial killers, it's about how a lot of true crime fans overestimate themselves. take the lyrics "Ya' know, Dennis Rader and David Parker Ray actually sit together in Hell
/ Shaking, quaking, terrified that one day, somehow, someway / They might meet me" for example - she's satirizing how many true crime fans will act like they're experts on the subject with the idea that two literal serial killers would be afraid of a teenager who listens to podcasts.
I think that’s the exact opposite of what this song is trying to say…
I get that it can be interpreted that way, but in my opinion this part of the lyrics is more complementary to when she sings “She could’ve killed you
She had every right
You just caught her off guard tonight
But it’s alright
She’ll be fine”
The singer is saying that those murders are afraid because the advantage they had is taken by her.
@@Sprout8467 Well, every song is up to interpretation, but the fact that she's constantly making fun of true crime tropes throughout the song, such as the idea Ted Bundy was super intelligent and charismatic and attractive, and that murder and pain is just quirky "girl talk".

I just wanna point out that if these killers were actually as smart as people think they are they wouldn’t have gotten caught in the end.
Word
They get caught because they got cocky in the end
1:00 my fav. part
Yeah, its such PERFECT villan dialog that I'm surprised it's not in a movie quote.

Imagine how many ted bundy fans that have listened to this song but didn't listen to the lyrics. that pisses me off so much.
Ted Bundy really got his feelers hurt after this song
when i first listened to this song, i thought the lyrics were "They robbed her body, but not her eyes" And the meaning behind that is much more sinister than the original lyrics
i could make a whole analysis paper on this song, i love this sm
I LOVE the way she says 1:05-1:17
she sounds like a girl from my play and i cant stop thinking about it-
i honestly hate the fact that when i spoke to my sister about my love for unsolved old mysteries she just said "going through the not like other girls phase clearly" like im sorry but jack the ripper, the road hill house murder and the cheapside hoard are all fascinating to me and im not doing it to be different
No I think a lot of girls go through a phase like that bc it has a lot to do with their safety ig girls have to be more careful about things
A lot of people are saying it’s a phase, but I personally don’t think it’s a phase for me. I don’t use read or watch true crime cases for my safety. I watch/read them because I find it interesting.
why do people even hate on penelope- like bro? she sounds like a damn fallen angel

Maybe they just dislike her style of music or something. I think it’s creative though
If I may be Cringe for a moment this song has such such such big Harley Quinn vibes.
True
Hmmm yes
Yass This comment deserves more likes 😁
how come? but yhi totally agree !!
@@artvrl this song is about male serial killers and the women they kill, which is very harley and joker vibes to me i guess. Like, almost all of the lyrics fit but specific examples. "The ropes are heavy and the knots are tight, _Tied by a monster and his oblivious wife"_ "Well [The joker] was never that fucking bright, he was just sort of charismatic and white alright! _and he was so fucking sure he had the right."_ "You're not special for winning a game with someone who you know was never playing. She could've killed you, she had every right, You just caught her off guard tonight. But it's alright, she'll be fine." (Ty for giving a chance 2 infodump lol)
listening to true crime makes me feel so safe and idk why, like listening to the serial killers childhood idk lmao
Yess. Also i hate it at the same time bc a lot of them had a similar childhood. Like
"There perants argued and they were lonely and bullied at school as a young child they had a head injury and they had a personality disorder"
And im like 😬😬 bro stop it this is kinda targeting me. So yeah its interesting tho
Not all of that but some 😶
@@ania519 yeah lol, i also don’t like when people try and justify the murder/rapist etc actions by saying “they were abused as a kid” like ok same your not special😃☝️
@@megan-fv3qp yeah its fucked up
@@ania519 I literally had all of that except the arguing parents, and although I'm sorta aggressive on impulse sometimes due to my head injury and traumas, I would never think of killing or harming someone seriously or any of that lol.
@@xsweetiebloomx605 true, they could've gotten help but they never did and everything they did was their fault in the end, no matter how people/events influenced them
I do think we should pay more attention to their life before their crimes though and see how that ties in, people say there was no way to tell something was wrong, that it came out of nowhere, that they mustve been born evil, ect but thats often false. Something definitely happened to just tip them over the edge, (yeah some of them were born like that but it probably wouldn't have gotten to that point otherwise). Wether thats abuse, mental illness trauma or a head injury that messed with their brain, something happened. So people should really see how that ties in and keep that in mind, without creating any empathy for the killer in question of course
It could also help with future research ect but yeah
Love this song, love when she made fun of Tedd Bundey. Like honestly, Tedd Bundey was a misogynistic loser, who never played fair and killed off guard sweet women.
The fact that the media gave him that power of making him seem “scary” pissed me off, and don’t even get me started on those weirdos who think he’s “hot”. The guy literally was an ugly incel with a slightly prominent jaw line and had mommy issues, he wasn’t special just a deranged loser.

So this girl's outside behind the bar
She's a good girl
She called a car
Y'got three motherfuckers in a big white van
Two dumb friends and one mean man
Well she'll fucking kill you
She wins every fight
She's gonna rock your shit by the end of the night
And the only advantage that a killer has
Is they think they have the right
I listen to a lot of true crime
I listen to it at night
I like the girl talk
It makes me feel alright
I like scary stories in the morning
And I like them at night
I like the girl talk vibes
They make me feel just fine
I listen to a lot of true crime
Y'know Dennis Rayder and David Parker Ray
Actually sit together in Hell
Shaking quaking terrified
That someday
Somehow someway
They might meet me
They took our girls away from home
They're in the woods they're all alone
The ropes are heavy and the knots are tight
Tied by a monster and his oblivious wife
Well I hope this doesn’t seem too impolite
But Ted Bundy was just never that fucking bright
He was just sorta charismatic and White alright
And he was so fucking sure he had the right
But he’s ugly and I’m glad he’s dead
Cuz there was no fucking candle in his pumpkin head
You’re not special for winning a game
With someone who you know was never playing
She could’ve killed you
She had every right
You just caught her off guard tonight
But it’s alright
She’ll be fine
We listen to a lotta true crime
One of our young turned up last night
They found their body but not their eyes
Somebody new must’ve
Gone bad
Where’s the lord to take care of that
Where’s the lord to take care of that
I listen to a lot of true crime
I listen to it at night
