Jing Yuan found companionship with Yanqing, Blade with the Stellaron Hunters and Dan Heng with the Astral Express - they were able to move on, find new beginning - aside from Jingliu. Baiheng's death took a great toll on her and it can be argued that that's the reason why she succumbed to mara in the first place. Battling the mara alone, she made the decision to return to Xianzhou one final time in hopes of seeing her companions for the last time - before she surrendered herself, willingly, to atone and pay for her sins alone, forever.
Blade is in a similar situation. He just wants to die. He has nothing to live for. Elio is just using him as a puppet, sure the stellaron hunters are treating him well, but that doesn't change the fact that elio is probably just using Blade to achieve his goals.

I find the story of the High Cloud Quintet to be really heartbreaking and sad. Everyone has their own reasons for their actions. However, the consequences are what they are left with. Jingliu is the one that has suffered the most since she was the one that formed the group, but couldn't keep everyone together. In the end, she blamed everything onto herself and also ultimately fell victim to a tragic fate.
At least, somehow she's free, Jing Yuan who is being left behind has to suffer for the lose of a friend, and his master, even has to put his own comrades in prison, but he always smiles no matter what, I hope He'll cry out, I don't want him to but That's what he needs

Jingliu and Blade are both stricken with Mara, Jing Yuan had to watch as his closest friends lost part of themselves, and Dan Heng was born in prison and forced to pay for crimes he couldn’t even remember.
I kinda feel that Jingliu is, in some ways, similar to Azhdaha from Genshin Impact. Natives of Xianzhou and immortal beings in Genshin are destined to experience Mara/erosion sooner or later. But the way Xianzhou elders treat Jingliu's legacy is significantly different than the way Zhongli treats Azhdaha's legacy. The Xianzhou elders erased all records of Jingliu's heroic deeds and brand her traitors for something that is beyond her control (her fall into her mara-state isn't her choice, while Danfeng's and Blade's sins are results of their choice to resurrect their dead friend). Zhongli, on the other hand, ensured that Azhdaha will always be remembered as a hero by the citizens of Liyue instead of a maddened dragon he has became. The way Xianzhou elders treat their former champion is despicable imho.

The HCQ story is so sad in general but for me the saddest perspective struck out as that of Jing Yuan's. I truly think he is one of the best written characters in the game. All of his old friends still exist in some form or the other but it would be impossible for things to go back to what they were. Blade and Jingliu are mara struck and enemies of the Xianzhou and Dan Feng and Baiheng have been reincarnated and are not the same people anymore. Only him and his memories remain the same. His relationships with all four of them are truly so heartbreaking. He had to kill his own master who taught him to be a Cloud Knight. He could not do anything besides lessen Dan Feng's sentence to that of exile and it is so sad how he still searches for his old friend in Dan Heng. He lost his friend Baiheng and he looks out for her reincarnation, guarding her from the Preceptors. And Blade....this is the one I'm the most sad about. He personally let Blade, a criminal, escape the Xianzhou and avoided questions about why he did so. In the past, like this fanvid suggests they probably used to be childhood friends who trained together and grew up to be part of a victorious group. They used to bicker with each other, implying closeness. Yingxing even crafted his sword and several others that he keeps displayed in his chamber to this day. His voiceline about Blade "If he were to forget everything, it would make things a lot easier for me" is so interesting. I interpret it as such that Jing Yuan does not want Blade to relive their painful past while being mara-stricken because it hurts him to see his friend like that. Also, in Jingliu's quest, there is a moment when Blade suggests something related to hurting himself and Jing Yuan looks genuinely upset. There is surely a lot of shared history between them that I'd love to learn more about. Also, it is important to note that despite facing all this, Jing Yuan still never erred from his responsibilities as the General of the Cloud Knights and looked after an entire nation. Sure he has Yanqing and Fu Xuan to support him now but that does not negate all the pain he has been through. I love his warm carefree personality all the more for it. Sorry for the long rant, I just love Jing Yuan.

General Huaiyan was the one who actually respected Yingxing's craft and supported him, teaching him so much about the art and giving him a great opportunity to flourish in the Xianzhou. I just assumed that he would also have learned swordsmanship from Jingliu once he moved to the Luofu but that's more of my headcanon haha. It'll be cool to learn more about Huaiyan and Blade if we ever get a Blade companion mission!

I was thinking about Jing yuan's story in all this, he is constantly surrounded by birds and with a smile and seems in control but if you think about it, he is like one of his birds, he is stuck in a cage, all the others may be haunted by the memories but Jing yuan is surrounded all the time by the places where all these memories happened, and it must be very hard for him to move on, even though he is shown by yanqing, fu xuan and the other one, he looks so happy and sad when Blade and Dan Hang arrived at the luofu I really want to see his story because out of everyone he got the least character development in the arc of the xianzhou

Dan Heng was only adamant about being a new person and cutting ties with the past prior to finding out that he isn’t the reincarnation of Dan Feng, but in-fact Dan Feng himself. Tell me how a man raised in prison after paying the price because of the sins his ‘past incarnation’ committed is supposed to find out that he’s not a reincarnation whatsoever when the only person he’s in contact with (That doesn’t treat him poorly) is his old friend that knows he must be exiled from the Xianzhou and wants him to find freedom because he cares about him? Dan Heng only found out that he’s Dan Feng in Jingliu’s companion mission. It was implied by Jingliu and then directly stated as a fact by Jing Yuan. Here is text from in-game. Jing Yuan: “Who you are is a question that only you can find the answer to... ..even if the Preceptors's interference denied you a true rebirth...” This is direct confirmation of Dan Heng being Dan Feng. Jing Yuan is leaving the choice of whether Dan Heng will continue his new life or connect himself to the past up to him because he is a good man that cares deeply for his friends, and he knows that Dan Heng is feeling overwhelmed because of everything he is finding out at once. Now it is true that even despite finding out that he is Dan Feng, Dan Heng might have wanted to continue life the way it is and leave the past behind - but this isn’t the case. After finding out who he is, he told Blade that he would accompany him until the end of the script if he wished. This is him directly associating himself with both Blade and the past, reconnecting himself to both. He’s since been softer towards Blade, which again proves that he’s not planning on erasing the past now that he knows it’s HIS past. And just for the record, the animated short you’re talking about was set before Dan Heng knew his true identity as Dan Feng, which means his vision of the past and of himself was still very clouded.

They forgot to include scene where Lan the Hunt fire his beam piercing all path obliterated Baiheng to pieces makes the war pointless if he can one shot the Abundance in the first place
I don't think the animation wanted to focus on that detail just on Baiheng's death. True her sacrificed only saved Dan Feng from a pinch but ultimately Shuhu was defeated by Lan. Which is what enrages Jingliu wanting to work with Luocha to end this "pathethic play", she finds her current determination to free the Xhianzhou from being pawns on the Aeons weird games. As long as the abundance exist, the xhianzhou natives will keep throwing away their lives in this war when it's clear Lan could had easily dealt with the matters himself, ultimately making everything pointless killing, it's interesting how different characters react to finding out about that fact. As for Lan, I don't think he's that all powerful to defeat the abundance on his own, and even if he could the main reason why he wouldn't act is because the Abundance like undermining efforts and capsizing than direct conflict, leading to not resort to his arrows since they can kill his own people, letting his pathstriders from the Alliance to the Galaxy Rangers to try to solve the situation rather than resort to his arrows as a last resort if they "ultimately fail". As whats common on Jingliu, Dan Shu's and Yukong's storyline seems like Lan only resorts to shoot his arrows when the battle is about to be lost. All of this characters see Lan differently, and possibly the most interesting is Jingliu given she decided to go with this ploy in order to reduce the amount of tragedy by finding a way to directly do a lethal blow on Yaoshi by joining forces with Luocha, who have a common goal and adquiring the power to slay Aeons. Compared to Yukong who lost all will to fight, and Dan Shu who admonishes Lan for his acts as for her they looked so easy and wouldn't need to involve his people, specially her lover in a crossfire and joins the Sanctus Medicus instead.

Jing Yuan and Yingxing weren’t trained together. They didn’t grow up together. Huaiyan was Yingxing’s master , not Jingliu.

@@geto_suguru_simp You’re the one that doesn’t read the lore, quite clearly. Dan Heng was only adamant about being a new person and cutting ties with the past prior to finding out that he isn’t the reincarnation of Dan Feng, but in-fact Dan Feng himself.
Tell me how a man raised in prison after paying the price because of the sins his ‘past incarnation’ committed is supposed to find out that he’s not a reincarnation whatsoever when the only person he’s in contact with (That doesn’t treat him poorly) is his old friend that knows he must be exiled from the Xianzhou and wants him to find freedom because he cares about him?
Dan Heng only found out that he’s Dan Feng in Jingliu’s companion mission. It was implied by Jingliu and then directly stated as a fact by Jing Yuan. Here is text from in-game.
Jing Yuan: “Who you are is a question that only you can find the answer to...
..even if the Preceptors's interference denied you a true rebirth...”
This is direct confirmation of Dan Heng being Dan Feng. Jing Yuan is leaving the choice of whether Dan Heng will continue his new life or connect himself to the past up to him because he is a good man that cares deeply for his friends, and he knows that Dan Heng is feeling overwhelmed because of everything he is finding out at once.
Now it is true that even despite finding out that he is Dan Feng, Dan Heng might have wanted to continue life the way it is and leave the past behind - but this isn’t the case. After finding out who he is, he told Blade that he would accompany him until the end of the script if he wished. This is him directly associating himself with both Blade and the past, reconnecting himself to both. He’s since been softer towards Blade, which again proves that he’s not planning on erasing the past now that he knows it’s HIS past.
And just for the record, the animated short you’re talking about was set before Dan Heng knew his true identity as Dan Feng, which means his vision of the past and of himself was still very clouded.

They forgot to include scene where Lan the Hunt fire his beam piercing all path obliterated Baiheng to pieces makes the war pointless if he can one shot the Abundance in the first place
I don't think the animation wanted to focus on that detail just on Baiheng's death. True her sacrificed only saved Dan Feng from a pinch but ultimately Shuhu was defeated by Lan. Which is what enrages Jingliu wanting to work with Luocha to end this "pathethic play", she finds her current determination to free the Xhianzhou from being pawns on the Aeons weird games. As long as the abundance exist, the xhianzhou natives will keep throwing away their lives in this war when it's clear Lan could had easily dealt with the matters himself, ultimately making everything pointless killing, it's interesting how different characters react to finding out about that fact.
As for Lan, I don't think he's that all powerful to defeat the abundance on his own, and even if he could the main reason why he wouldn't act is because the Abundance like undermining efforts and capsizing than direct conflict, leading to not resort to his arrows since they can kill his own people, letting his pathstriders from the Alliance to the Galaxy Rangers to try to solve the situation rather than resort to his arrows as a last resort if they "ultimately fail". As whats common on Jingliu, Dan Shu's and Yukong's storyline seems like Lan only resorts to shoot his arrows when the battle is about to be lost. All of this characters see Lan differently, and possibly the most interesting is Jingliu given she decided to go with this ploy in order to reduce the amount of tragedy by finding a way to directly do a lethal blow on Yaoshi by joining forces with Luocha, who have a common goal and adquiring the power to slay Aeons. Compared to Yukong who lost all will to fight, and Dan Shu who admonishes Lan for his acts as for her they looked so easy and wouldn't need to involve his people, specially her lover in a crossfire and joins the Sanctus Medicus instead.
