It's just nice to hear John Peels' voice. I used to tape all sorts of shit off his show while fucking dreading going to the shitty ponced up grammar school I used to be forced to go to the next day....
Was lucky enough to meet John Peel at a Dr Alimintado gig here in Edinburgh just months before he passed.I was out of it and clambered onstage and asked if I could shake his hand...he said "of course you can"! Why the bouncers didn't hassle me just blows me away? Killing Joke have blown me away since 80/81 and I go every time they play in Glasgow (they don't play Edinburgh anymore) Always love the Joke, nowt but pure feeling and musical genius and brutality =beauty
Could well be. The Peel Wiki has the first play of anything by the Cocteau Twins as being an early promo record of Speak No Evil on 11th January 1982.. So this mention of the Cocteaus allows the Wiki to beupdated (but I don't know who does that). Alas, the Wiki has no information at all about tonight's show so we can't see if John said anything else about the record.

"The first from Killing Joke it's a kidnapping song it's called We Have Joy!" classic peel, thanks for posting for me, the Jokes best radio session
I second that!
4 great tracks from an underrated masterpiece of an album ...
I couldn't agree more, my fave album, it's so dark and it hasn't dated.
Absolutely marvelous!
'the empire song' is absolutly bangin'!
Hope this gets millions of views!....Peely, much missed!
That guitar intro to The Hum....Just brutal, I could listen to that riff all day long!

This is the best version of we have joy by a mile. As always guitar riffs are mesmerizing.
This version of ‘Chop chop’ is heavier than the album. Love it

Announced the first Single from The Cocteau Twins. Perhaps the First time he mentioned them ?
I wondered the same thing.
Back then, so many interesting bands were popping up. And so many of them sound pretty damn good all these years later.
