x3000 is still flexing.
Viltrox really has something going in the budget spaces. I got the 24 1.8 and LOVE how fast the AF snaps on video
The Viltrox is quite good. They have several decent lenses out these days.
My fav cam channel by far
"I don't have a camera" killed me 🤭 Thank you Kasey
He's top quality! Also got me good.
I could be wrong but the X3000 looks super cool on the vest. As if you landed on the flat earth to bring us affiliate links for breakfast.
that 16mm F1.8 performed rather decently, think on a scrub life APS-C camera it could work rather well, love the fact that it does not breath that alone is so dam awesome
How do you colorgrade that x3000? It's perfect
this is the first viltrox lens you've tested that i didn't immediately hate
You don’t like the 75 1.2?
but you did hate it in the end, didn't you?
@@Eyeofkamau good point, i missed that one. the 75 mm 1.2 has a great image
Definitely the best Gordon Laing impersonator on the planet.
Curious, what is the accessory you had on the x3000? A 3d printed nd filter mount?
Time will reveal all :)
@@cameraconspiracies I know what it is, but I'll wait until you review it.
Can you do a video of the difference between shooting in pp11 straight out of camera vs. Whatever you do with the colors using the grey card using the a7Siii?
Every now and then I have to say it (again)...your content is absolutely hilarious AND very informative:)
So thanks for putting in all the effort❤🙌
Always an extra like for a Gordon appearance! 🎉
Return of the Squirrel Whisperer
Had the 20 for some time and it's super sharp on my a7rii and I just recently got the viltrox 16mm and so far besides the wider pov it's hard to tell the difference. This lens is a steal of a deal.
Whats your thoughts after a month? I am in a pretty hard pinch between these two
@papaelf_ it's a toss-up. Sony lens pair best. I'll know soon as I'm headed to AZ Utah for 12 days taking them both for astrophotography..I'll post results at the end of the month
I have the Sony 20mm f1.8 G… under what circumstances do you find yourself reaching for the 16mm first? Have you compared low light/night performance with respect to CA, coma and astigmatism control?
@@seangaffney581Ah I should have scrolled down further… enjoy your trip to AZ..! I’m out in Western Australia. Looking forward to your thoughts on the 16mm for astrophotography..!
@@seangaffney581 You are awesome. I appreciate that. Im trying to start making content again and i just want to film my life. I do primarily photography but definitely want to dabble in video. Would you mind running a couple vid test, i feel better hearing from other people about their opinion on this lens. Do you think that the viltrox is a legitmate contender to the 20
That Sony X3000 is just so amazing! The lens review was great, really nice pairing! Thanks for sharing! So much great squirel footage and what is up with the Canadian bugs? :)
Quite a pleasing image, but yeah, the minimum focusing distance is not great.
ST profile is definitely working for you. Looks great!
14:33 I really like the reflections in your aviators. Almost a little like Morpheus. The cinema is ours!
(You should go down that rabbit hole 🤩🙌).
Oh, he's been down that hole more than once, my friend. And brought back some nuts for the squirrels.
"OMG, that squirrel is back for more" :)))
"Gordon Laing is the only one holding it with two hands"
Man... this is so funny
Already clicked approved and have only seen the ads…
1:52 god that is why I subscribed 😂
can u explain what you put on your x3000?
I'm still a bit of a camera novice. So basically these lenses are on the Sony A7S, a full frame sensor. So a 20mm on a smaller frame will be different, correct?
Aps-c is 1.5x crop so 20mm becomes 30mm.
"You would think 1mm makes no difference whatsoever, *IT'S EVERYTHING*" -- that is definitely what she said!
I am considering selling my Sony 20 and buying this 16 for my a7Siii simply for the focus breathing issue. The 20 is horrible about focus breathing and since Sony hates us a7Siii users and will not give us a firmware update, the 16 might be the answer that I need.
Im doing the exact same
And me too, selling my 20mm
How does everyone feel about their decision? I’m so torn between the 20 1.8 and the viltrox 16. It would be my first ever wide angle lens
I use 20mm for stills (ok ok yes I’m a photographer infiltrator here) so breathing not relevant to my use but I’m surprised Sony hasn’t released a firmware update to address the focus breathing.
Nice green tones in this vid
I think I prefer the Pany 9mm f/1.7- smaller, min-focus is way better, and more 3D POP!
100
it's equivalent to 18mm/3.4 on FF -- a totally different lens.
@@USGrant21st Yeah, the slight amount of more blur isn't worth the massiveness of the Viltrox and Sony.
@@imagenatura are you having hard time understanding the difference between 16/1.8 and 18/3.4?
@@USGrant21st No. There's a slight difference in blur and the 16 is a little wider. It's not rocket science. The Panasonic 9mm is way lighter and more suitable for what I do.
You must have modified the X3000, in no other video of any UA-camr does footage from the X3000 look as good as in this video.
I have a video coming on what I've done :)
This viltrox is kinda impressive. And is 60% of the sony 20mm f1.8 price ... only the weight is kinda off putting for weakling like me ... and also seems tomorrow S5IIX with 18mm F1.8 will arrive :D.
I just stumbled upon the Sony FX3. Not exactly dirt cheap but very, very close to the perfect, video-centric camera. Did I miss anything?
No viewfinder.
No good s35 perfomance.
@@namesurname5256 Not really a dealbreaker tbh
Its pretty swell. My entire channel is that camera in low light for the most part. I gave the FX30 some love as well but returned to the 3. Feel free to take a look at my footage and if you have any questions lmk.
"I don't have a camera!..." That was hilarious. Also, a flashback to the Sony QX100! We don't need no bodies! I think the next APS-C Sony (A6700) with the 15f1.4G might be the ticket.
I didn't realize that I was playing you back at 1.5x speed.... it was perfect - check it out.
I finally bought the Sony ZV-E1 so i can finally have a sleek autofocus camera that i can use to play cinema with myself like you do.
Only i still need an AF lens.. need that 20mm 1.8 asap hoping i can score one open box for 500, 550.. God willing.. I've got like a dozen lenses but they're all manual..🙄
I'm getting one or two of your shirts soon lol, love your content
He’s finally come around the the ZV-E1
any comparison of viltrox 16mm vs Sony 16-35 gm2? i know GM2 is much more expensive and most likely better but im wondering how much better?
Just test canon 16mm 2.8. I want to see you use it and say what's wrong with it?
It’s got almost no distortion 😮 a bit of vignette of course. Can custom button be configured for MF LOCK (e.g. astrophotography use)? Coma and astigmatism? Everyone knows the best vloggers walk around in the dark bumping into each other.
What use have I for hazelnuts when I can't buy a squirrel through your affiliate links to feed them to?
The 20mm G is wicked sharp (and it makes zero artifacts sun stars)
Also its bokeh is amazing
Are you kidding me, the X3000 footage actually looked sharper and with better contrast XD
It ages like a fine wine :)
Brilliant. Subbed.
Great to see a good old dumpster vlog again!
I feel like the bokeh quality quite smeary looking... honestly the X3000 still the king. xD
The X3000 is amazing! The camera industry really is going backwards.
Hello - Greetings from Germany !
Germany was great back then.
Wait for LAOWA 10mm f2.8. It went crazy in China already, might soon be released in NA.
Wow, actually I like this one. It's more than usable to my eyes.
Squirrel + bee, the cinema was ours. I wish I had nice chocolate colored squirrels like you have in Canada. How do you do that? Do you roll them in soot? The thing about Viltrox is that now their stuff is decent. That's tough, because now we are forced to think, and that hurts. Do I want Viltrox, or first party, or this ludicrously expensive Leica lens? Life used to be simpler.
Wow… that looks pretty good. I think 15mm is too wide, the corners get smeared and stretched on my RF 15-35mm.
Great Review !!!
Lmao you actually put hazelnuts in your affiliate links lolllll
Squirrel shots were beautiful
i had the pleasure of being your 1k like - you're fucking hilarious at reviewing
Will you please post a definition list of the terms you use? "Toneh"
ua-cam.com/video/aQ8VodC19-g/v-deo.html
Look up “Toneh” and you will see the origin story. It’s worth the watch.
The x3000 astound me. And so does Sony as a whole these days... 🤦
14mm is great after the active stab and breathing comp crops turning into a 16-17mm lens.
tell me what filter mount you got on the X3000 or DIE!!!
Being 1.8… no night shots?
X3000 color is more Canon than Canon!
I like the aviators. There's a D-list Canadian rapper under the name Michael Rushden in Vancouver. This look gives me Michael Rushden vibes.
That lens you are using in the studio at the beginning makes your head bigger when you are close to the lens you look like Jimmy Neutron 😂
i have the memory card sellotaped into the camera to remind me never to remove it
Yea! Samyang diserves another look! TAMRON! LOWA! ?Canon 16mm?
What do you think of the Sony Aibo for vlogging? With the built-in microphone, is this their replacement for the X3000?
6:34 I disapprove. Lenses, friends, family, pets ...they better be breathing.
Can we get a video on the Sl1 with magic lantern
"He's not wide enough..."
😏😂😂
The highlights of this look incredibly smeary compared to the glory of the RF24mm
It's like my vintage Minolta lenses, has to probably be stopped down to 2.8 to coear it up
If you want close focus, use a darn extension tube lol
The Viltrox has a sharper more saturated image that's more pleasing to the eye than the Sony.
this is a very odd video. I love it.
14mm with Clear Image Zoom?
What about 15 mm Sony g ?
Thank you!
X3000 rules as always.. 🎉
Was all this without using any nd filter?
Update… so I ordered the Viltrox 16mm… My copy of this lens arrived with faulty AF out of the box and I am returning it for a refund. Not a good first impression of Viltrox.
Does the 20mm t1.8 focus breath on the a7siii, if so, is it bad? I'm tossing up between zv-e1 and the a7siii, AI-features aside, I think the only thing that tilts me to the zv-e1 is the focus breathing comp, if that is irrelevant for talking head shots where I might move forward and back, leaving auto-focus on, then I think I should just go for the a7siii for all the build quality and other advantages...
i think i wrote this prematurely... at 7:00 now. I've watched this previously but I watch so many of your videos I have forgotten whether you cover my above question in this video already... I'll delete the comment / question if you do. Sorry
Casey, have you been drinking Fluorided water??? This was waaaay too positive for you. Did CSIS replace you with AI!??!?!
40% on the Hazelnuts? I’m there for a pound.
@5:50 the user error was yours ;) Different focus points!
Both focused on the bottles.
@@cameraconspiracies Something seems off with the focus. Compare the scratches on the table, smallest photo frame, and background photos. I'm not a fan of Viltrox, but it can't be that bad. Shouldn't the Canon's longer FL provide a smaller DOF and more toneh? Redo at F2.8 on both?
Haha omg, i make a video on the 16mm 1.8 as well. It's amazing in all specs but I am thinking to return it now :(
Great job on the video Kasey! Thanks for making it. What about the 15mm APS-C lens from Sony? For that matter, Sigma also has a 16mm that might just have some toneh...
A return of the Sony Action Cam?!?! HUZZAH!!!
Is the lens still useable if the little screen goes out on it?
Mine worked with a blank screen.
@@cameraconspiracieswonderful, thank you.
Why its not meant for landscape photography? I didn't get that. 16mm isn't enough for a landscape?
Got the 16-35 gm love it😂
To catch a fly you need to move your hand VERY slowly towards them. Then they don’t see you coming.
If you don't mind going manual the Laowa 15mm f2 zero D is very impressive
I think I’m going to buy a spare copy of the Sony 10-18mm f4 OSS……
Is there any fast 16mm or even 17/18mm prime without a stupid screen that's a bit less heavy than this 550g monstrosity?
The white trash Viltrox lens is perfect for filming my life. Flat and lacking pop is the look I need.
Too bad they didn't make the lens lighter
The Laowa 15mm F2 was the first FF Sony lens I bought. still great piece just MF
you can always use 1.4x teleconverter
Sonys? It works on certain lenses
@@Fessoid it was supposed to be a joke, that no one getted. :D
Not gonna lie, that's among the best wide angle lenses you've used. Have you given thought to the Laowa 15m f/2 zero D?
Had and sold.
@@cameraconspiracies Ah....sorry buddy. Must have missed that video! It's a good lens but heavy.
@@cameraconspiracies PS: You need to come to the UK and bring some Camera Conspiracy gear! It cost me almost as much to ship it as to buy it and I need replacements!
You got the girl, the stylish shades and you’re doing the job you love… you got it made
This lens actually has that visible 3D pop you always joke about.
there is no such thing as 3D pop, it's just a joke
@@USGrant21st Agree to disagree. The outdoor vlog comparison from 9:00 onward shows it.
@@LazyMitchell how do you measure the 3D pop, and what are the units?
@@USGrant21st You multiple 3 x D / po + p = there you go
@@LazyMitchell I knew you were talking BS 😅
brother, have you maybe tried the glimmerglass vs black pro mist?
heavier indeeeeddd
