    The young racers in the lower levels are in a war of attrition. The manufacturers and high power teams throw a lot of newbies out there and eventually some of them shine well enough to move up. It's nothing personal, just racing.

    I think a big thing for Deegan is that she seems to have lost confidence this year. I think all of the pressure is getting to her in a bad way. And I don't know if DGR is a good fit for her. The Atlanta incident was what raised a red flag for me. She told them she was smelling smoke and thought she was on fire about 2 or 3 laps before she came down pit road and both her spotter and crew chief basically told her "No you aren't, keep digging" and she ran the few more laps until she damn near choked herself out on the smoke. That level of non-trust from a team towards a driver is something I have never heard of before. Like if you don't trust the driver to literally know when they are on fire, what kind of input is she really getting on....anything, really? That doesn't even take into account how her pit crew seems to have a bad stop about every other time she comes in, which puts her in the back which is where she gets caught up in the stupid mid-pack bs. I do think she obviously has room for improvement but its hard to tell how much of it really is on her since the situation around her just seems bizarrely grim.

In trucks, she constantly gets taken out by guys trying insane moves that were literally never going to work, and it ruins both drivers races. And yet they do it every fucking week. The actually good drivers understand that you can just sit behind someone if you can't get past, you don't need to go for one extra position by trying to dive down the inside of someone who's faster then you. You can just accept 10th place. There is basically no talent in truck series at the moment, they're just idiots.

  • @Hollowsmith
    @Hollowsmith 2 роки тому +10

    Hailie biggest problem is that she's constantly mid-pack. That's the most wreck-prone area to be, because there's less talented drivers causing wrecks along with wrecks developing out in front to miss. I've watched tons of NASCAR for 30 years. And I've always noticed if you're super slow, you're rarely in wrecks, and if you're super fast, you're usually out ahead of them. But unless Hailee can improve to where she's battling the 1st through 10th driver each week instead of the 11th through 25th driver, then she'll continue to wreck a lot. She's actually not that reckless. But she gets caught up in a lot of other wrecks because she can't get the speed to clear the notoriously wreck-filled portion of the pack each week.

    • @CharlesFreck
      @CharlesFreck 2 роки тому +1

      She usually is in the top 10, that's where most of her trouble happens. Some slow bastard gets near her in the top 10 cause he's shredding his tyres and had a few good laps, and thinks "well, now's my only chance to get past!" and proceeds to ruin both their races, and then they both finish near 20th place. Every single goddamn race, because no one in truck series can fucking drive. There's like 3 talented drivers in the entire series, and every single other driver should be fired immediately. They drive like apes. They'll ruin your race and their own because they don't like sitting behind someone who's as fast as them for a few laps. No, instead they'll do some insane banzai move that's never going to work and then you both lose all the places you've spent all race building up.

    In her first year and a half, this is partly what I expected.
    Some solid finishes in the Top 15 or Top 20. However, some finishes could've been better. I'm not say it's her fault, it's because some of the veteran drivers aren't giving her the room to grow and other rookies who have little to no experience.
    Hailie Deegan has potential, but when she gets into a wreck and about 60 or 70% of the time, it's someone else's fault. Her team is DGR and the equipment is decent. It needs to have the right amount of speed and consistency, as well as the right equipment and the right people on her team.

Every time it seems the team is set to get a top ten the pit crew fucks up a tire or something dumb happens out of her control. The truck series is shit and has been for decades alot of drivers struggled their way threw it and went on to shine in the next level, I think Deegan is going be amongst that group. The people taking her out aren't Dale Earnhardt, moving up the pack by any means necessary, go fast or let em past racing. No, it's guys that are usually slower then her, who get a good run for 3 laps and think "great, now I'll just wreck them to get past!" and it means they lose pace, she loses pace and then they end up losing 10 positions each. I appreciate that it doesn't outright show hatred about her like I thought it would based on your "Is it time to call her a bust or do we still need time?" twitter posts, but I still want to point out some other things. Her rookie season was better than I expected because of one thing you failed to point out in this video. She was top 5 in all laps complete the entire season last year, without the practice or qualifying, and also didn't dnf until the very end of the season in playoffs, only getting three the entire year. Not bad for a rookie. I deel like bringing up her personal issues with a stalker was extra shade that didn't need to be thrown, because that video was how long ago? And you mention yourself that all her wrecks were wrong place wrong time, but didn't mention some of the things that put her there. Her crew has been horrible all season and if you listened to her scanner this season, you'd realize that, wither it be mechanical issues costing her qualifying like Gateway or Charlotte, or her crew not believing her when she said the truck was on fire in the first place and also taking forever to get her out at Atlanta, or doing well driving at Sonoma until her pit crew got a penalty she couldn't get back from because track position was so important such was the case in Sonoma... I think her bad runs so far have been the result of getting caught up in wrecks not of her own fault and issues with her team to include equipment issues and pit road issues. Furthermore, her crew chief while good has made some bad calls in strategy and setup. Additionally, Hailie has only been running asphalt for only the last 4 to 5 years. So a combo of many different factors on top of the reckless nature of the truck series has led to her lackluster performance thus far in her career. I really feel that a move up to the Xfinity series would help her out in her development, along with a move to a new team such as JRM.

    Hailie is the first female nascar racer with an actual chance to win, due to her family genes. Kind of like John Forces family. Its absolutely a hereditary trait. Now in Drag racing no one is bumping into you or purposely crashing you like the men continuously do in Stock car racing. So i believe Hailie will advance through the ranks when she can learn to push the truck a bit harder then she currently does. Shes not timid in dirt track truck racing, but those trucks are far more forgiving then these trucks are. Give her a part time xfinity spot to get more track time (Kyle drives all 3 series) so she can learn to be more aggressive and she will excel.
