I love ITZY. They are one of my favorite groups. I love their music. They are so versatile. Their discography is diverse. Their dancing is phenomenal. Their rapping is dope. Their M/Vs are insane.
so one thing about the lyrics on the video is that these arent actually the translated lyrics, they're the lyrics to the english version of this song so theres actually some parts that completely get lost between those versions. when they're talking about mafia, its actually referencing a game korean idols play a lot also called mafia. basically every player gets secretly assigned a role, like policeman, doctor, innocent ppl w/ no abilities & finally there's the mafia. during the game, the narrator will call "nightime has fallen" and the roles get to come out one after the other. so the doctor can choose one person to heal (w/o knowing who was or wasnt harmed), the police can investigate one players role, and ofc the mafia choose who to kill. some of the lines in the original lyrics directly reference this game, like directly before the chorus they say "night has fallen" like in the game & at the end of the chorus they say "its daytime" (in game this is the part where ppl start discussing who the mafia is) & the part where in this video it says "hit you like the mafia" they actually say "who is it the mafia?" which... yeah is pretty self explanatory, but again just a sentence that usually gets said while playing the game. in the bridge too they talk about the last night and inevitable morning coming (which in game is usually when theres only like 1 mafia and innocent ppl remaining so the danger is heightened) but imo theres a big difference between talking abt the ACTUAL mafia and discussing/referencing a childrens game
