I know some people say that LS swapping anything is always the answer. But I'd give extra points to anybody who would manage to cram a Saab engine under the hood.
Jaguar XK inline 6. Bonus points if you also use the manual gearbox with the Laycock overdrive unit.
Oddly enough, the only 929 I've encountered in the wild was driven by a family friend's wife, who upgraded to a late 90s XJ8 after it died. So there is historical precedent, if you squint at it funny!
Easy choice, S-10 engine and running gear. Really reliable, tons of parts available.
4.0L V6 and manual from a B4000 pick-em-up truck seems like the rational choice....so not very Lemons, I suppose.
Buick 3800, supercharged.
I hear tell that 4.9 Cadillac V8's make ideal engine swaps for 90's Mazdas.
The 929 was supposed to be just the first of a upmarket family of vehicles (a’la Lexus or Acura) they intended to sell under the Amati banner. Global economics being what they were that never quite happened.
Only one answer for a heavy Mazda sedan, 13B.
The obvious replacement for an underpowered V6 with limited reliability and parts availability is a Chevrolet 2.8 V6 and automatic transmission from an early S10.
you gotta 20b swap it, you simply must! bonus points if you still manage to get it under budget. call it the cosmon't
Twin 20b rotary swap it
stick a lexus v8 in it married to a supra manual box thats bound to er (dominate)
Clearly a LS400 imitator, 1UZ that thing.
How about a dual engine setup- Chevy Cobalt in front and a Smartcar engine in back, just in case.
It needs an old slant 6 and a three on the tree
I had no idea these were RWD, was the Millennia?
How about a 7 L 426 Hemi? Made in the US, plenty of engine/tranny parts...What could go wrong?
An egg salad sandwich would have been better.
Mazda F2 from a b2200. Get the mx6-gt manifods and go turbo.
Less power, less reliability!
Did DiAngelo cash the check? And she wasn't a paid actor? She said what she said.
I hear Alfa engines might totally fit in there...
Hey!
Uh, howabout a Mazda 1.8l K8 V6 with 5 speed. D'ohc!
Toss your car batteries into the ocean
Predator swap.
Cumins swap
