How you know he's not using it? The way you use it to lay it down is in the back. You can't see the stand from the front of it's being used to lay it down horizontally.

There Is always a chance of defects with new technology. not 100% sure but I imagine around a million of ps5 have been sold or close to and personally I have heard of maybe 3 consoles bricking, a hand full that have crashing issues (not a big deal) and another handful that have coil whine ( also not a big deal, just annoying). So let's take a stab and say 15 consoles in 1 million so the chances are small, the chances get smaller as the console is patched and updated. So you're pretty safe.

Ok I have serviced some PS4's in the past Try going into safe mode, to do this Step 0) Power off the console, remove from the power supply Try powering it without it being plugged in (Not joking, its to drain any trace of power in the circuit, ie capacitors etc) Then connect the power cables back up Important you follow the next steps 1) Press AND hold the power button (You will hear it beep, DO NOT LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON) 2) After a few seconds you will hear a second beep (Let go of the power button now) 3) Connect your wireless controller via the USB cable 4) Press the PS logo on the controller You should now be in the PS Safe Mode menu (If all went well) Try rebuilding the console database if this does not fix your problem Visit sony's website and download the PS5 software from their website www.playstation.com/en-gb/support/hardware/ps5/system-software/ Copy the downloaded PS5UPDATE.PUP file to the USB Drive and copy it into a folder called UPDATE (in capitals) and on the root directory (that means the very first folder that opens up when you double click on your USB drive) Then follow steps 0-4 and select from the safe mode menu, select "REINSTALL SYSTEM SOFTWARE" and select the source as being from the USB Drive Allow to install and the problem should be resolved KEEP THE PEN DRIVE TO HAND!
