I have this one at my bed (with a strong flashlight) for self defence. Gladiuses (and spears) are the best self defence swords. It has many variants. Small or longer according to personal preferences. Very pointy, fast thrusting weapon. Not too big so its ez to carry. Viable in cqc, and in small corridors. It is capable of chopping hands off with a single blow. Iam one very happy owner of cold steel gladius machette. One time it might save my life.
The spear is king, for sure. However, when it comes to crossing blades, the cutlass and saber have a long history of dominating enemies armed with handguardless blades. It's just too easy to threaten your enemy's hand while keeping your own in perfect safety.
To be fair, if you're out there committing hate crimes you're probably disproportionately more likely to eventually get into a swordfight with someone wielding a katana.
Lanyard were used on actual swords from horseback originally (b/c you cant just pick it back up) though nowadays they are used more to keep them from slipping out of your hand to begin w/, as well as helping w/ the reduction of hand fatigue.
In a modern context, a handguard like you might see on a saber or cutlass would serve to protect your fingers from the sticks, clubs, and machetes that goblins tend to wield.
Amazing video. You are definitely an underrated channel without the widespread publicity like Shadiversity and Skallagrim. You've sold me on the CS Gladius, I own the KaBar Kukri, and I wanted something a little different and more "sword-like," so another machete/kukri was out of the question. I was almost going to pull the trigger on the CS Katana machete, but then I saw dire reviews on it, and decided against it. Keep up the good work. Truly is a shame how criminals get away with committing racial violence against law-abiding citizens and get a slap on the wrist or get away scot-free while the innocent get victimized. This will not stand in the long run, we will continue to lawfully defend ourselves, regardless of what crooked politicians do to try to stop us with their hypocritical rhetoric and nonsensical legislation to restrict 2A and self-defense.
I use mine with a heavily modified blade (put a semi hollow grind, removed the painting and reduced the pommel, and made a better leather sheath) in archaeology fieldwork as a side tool, has helped me through brush and cane vegetation from the peruvian North Coast besides it looks cool as hell
I've got a lot of Cold Steel and other brands as well and this is my favorite. I made a thick leather sheath for it and wrapped the grip with two rolls of tennis racket tape. The tape was a big improvement. I use it on most of my machetes that I do actual work with and it not only gives a much better grip but helps a lot with hand abrasion. Its really not all that great for machete work, I don't think that's actually what it's intended for. But if zombies make appearance it would be one of the first things I'd arm myself with. I could easily take off a zombie arm or decapitate it. Plus you can shove it through zombie with very little effort thanks to its design.
I recently got closely acquainted with this machete 😂 While at my buddies camp, I was chopping small branches and brush. I did an overhand swing cutting downward (stupid, I know) and slashes right into my lower right leg. Split it wide open, 48 stitches or so to close, cut down to the first layer of muscle. All healed up now. But I can say, I would NOT want to be on the other end of this machete. I got lucky, thankfully. This thing can do serious damage, I know first hand.
Im buying 1 and it will be 100% a gardening tool😂 i need it to cut my fast growing chicken food. And it looks cool so ill go do it more and my chickens will get more greens.
There are more & more people interested in sword arts these days, especially cutting practice. One may be into HEMA, Kendo/Ninjitsu, Chinese sword arts, African Sword' arts, etc. Something that holds many back unfortunately is cost. Sure a decent European sword can had for around $300 & there are even some decent katana in the $150 range. But even $150+ can be out of some folks budget. The sword style machetes are a good way to get into cutting practice on a low budget. For around $50 one can get quite a few varieties of sword-machete from katana styles, to the gladius, to cutlass styles, etc. No they are not the same as swords, but for teaching edge alignment, power generation & having fun they are good choices; especially on a limited budget. I think they are great!
So I have this Gladius Machete and it's a Thick piece of steel so I Grinded Down the Side so it was Even...and then i Sharped it..taking off all the Black paint on the Blade and in doing that it made the Blade lighter so now it's lighter and it Cuts into thing very easily and Deep...because coldsteel had the Edge so thick it would only cut just very little now that i Fixed the Grand it cuts Straight through things it could not do before and now it's a Shiny Sharp Machete Blade that that now looks like and feels and Cuts like a Small Sword...its Crazy what you can do with this Blade...it takes Time but it fun and the out Come is something to See...again it's a Thick piece of Steel and you can make it what you want if you haven't got one get ONE...Because they give you alot of Steel
Yeah that White gay Ex soldier guy went to New York from Baltimore, I believe and murdered a homeless man who was collecting can and salvage metal to sell out of a bend and the Ex gay soldier used a blade like that one to stab the elderly homeless man who died from his injury and the murderer was seen running with his machete on camera trying to get away but was captured and arrested as he should have been. He was just a awful guy that eventually said he always wanted to kill a black person as sick and crazy as they may sound he was not crazy ,just full of hate and racism, he will not have it easy in prison, I would believe because of the nature of his violent crime. ⚔️🔥⚔️ It not the machetes fault but the stupid racist murderer. 💀🔥💀
Gatekeeping lacks finesse, some people do and that should be accepted, but is really just a simple way to educate and assure people aren't lying to themselves or others. Humans have more in common than not and ANYONE that becomes good at something shares a path walked with others who are also experienced. Wording up people to not go of like they know it all when just into the journey is a service that only bothers egos that need some tempering proving that there was a basis to gatekeep in the first place. A community without rules is not a community at all just chaos.
Maybe I’d better make a vid on it 😆 I plan on making more concise videos in the future, but here’s a few of my more rambly ones Here’s my vid on the sword-style ones ua-cam.com/video/S-zOpg7aTBA/v-deo.html Here’s the knife-style vid ua-cam.com/video/v_8r33AGmrs/v-deo.html
thoughts from personal experience use some kind of grip tape or something to wrap the handle i only say that cause 70+ stitches later it had almost cost me an arm
If you set the lanyard at a total loop length of 8-10 inches and put it on the right way, it will fit very snugly and prevent the machete from slipping out of your grip. See reallybigmonkey1 (fun in the woods) who has great videos on machetes. His "Tagged! Knife Lanyards and My Goals as a Woodsman" at ua-cam.com/video/fOm5RpPOVhI/v-deo.html is focused just on lanyard methods. He does some solo camping/bushcrafting, so lanyards are part of his injury prevention plan, as solo camping with bladed tools has some significant risks.
I appreciate your thinking. Just nicely structured, ordered, coherent, and congruent thoughts. So much of what’s presented today is skewed by cultural biases that prevent any form of internally consistent arguments from taking root in the premises of the subject matter.
Not sure about fending off Spanish drug dealers but if I were going backpacking along a trail that perhaps isnt maintained too well and can get overgrown a machete like this would be very useful. For getting firewood if I was going to make a campfire too.
Your lanyard was too long and thin. A lanyard on a sword, (machete), is meant for heavy action when sweat and blood might cause your weapon to slip from your hand, ( the handle on the cold steel gladius is slim for a big hand and slick. I wrap mine in paracord along with a thick braided lanyard. ). A firearm is almost useless when within range of of good blade, a gun is meant to give a weaker man the advantage of distance, the racist who killed with this attacked unarmed men from behind . P.S. I'm the opposite of a white guy who's never had a life and death fight(s).
The Roman’s used gladius for hundreds of years, why didn’t they use an ar-15? Because the gladius is better! If it wasn’t the Roman’s would have used an ar-15 instead of using the gladius.
Clicked dislike because the title ruins a good video about an otherwise great review of this product. This is, actually, one of the better reviews on this machete on all of UA-cam. But the humor is, very likely, misunderstood as your support for Far Right politics, or commiserating with ACTUAL hate groups. (EDIT:: After reading your comment below, I think I was wrong.. and you are commiserating with Far Right ACTUAL hate groups. Oh well... keep living your best life!)
@Delayed Grats - so let me guess, you're stupid and support Marxism and Socialism? It's a shame that you're so brainwashed that you never caught on that Communism and Socialism are both Far Left ideologies. Total Anarchy is a Far Right one. You repeat talking propaganda that is fed to you by the left and you have absolutely no idea just utterly stupid you are because none what they tell you have any basis in reality. People like you are the reason why we're in the mess we're in now and you best pray, and I mean get down on your f*cking hands and knees and pray that we dont go to war because if we do, folks like this channel will do far better than idiots like you when sh*t gets real.
Sooo you don't like the title? And? You seriously think you should tell people what to title their youtube videos? Your post doesn't help anyone, but rather makes you feel good and virtuous. This is all about you, not minorities, the far right, the Gladius reviewed, rather just about you. Its narcissistic and adds nothing. As the creator of the video said no one cares. Stop using the rest of society to try and stroke your delicate ego.

I,m gonna get one👍🗡
Get a mini webber BBQ - the lid makes a great shield to pair with a gladius or spear ; j
The spear is king, for sure. However, when it comes to crossing blades, the cutlass and saber have a long history of dominating enemies armed with handguardless blades. It's just too easy to threaten your enemy's hand while keeping your own in perfect safety.
Same! Even the flashlight has a sharp edge that allows you to strike
Those water bottles never stood a chance!
To be fair, if you're out there committing hate crimes you're probably disproportionately more likely to eventually get into a swordfight with someone wielding a katana.
Very true.
Gladius > katana
I like the way you didn’t dance around the fact that this thing is a weapon 👌
Lanyard were used on actual swords from horseback originally (b/c you cant just pick it back up) though nowadays they are used more to keep them from slipping out of your hand to begin w/, as well as helping w/ the reduction of hand fatigue.
The lanyard should be much shorter, it only fits over the palm of you hand for retention. It doesn't dangle.
Gardening tools as weapons.....ah duh. Ever seen the commando! Gardening has never been the same
In a modern context, a handguard like you might see on a saber or cutlass would serve to protect your fingers from the sticks, clubs, and machetes that goblins tend to wield.

On mine, I filed away some material in the handle to give it the concave finger grooves then wrapped it in grip tape. Its fantastic
You sound like a happy customer for Cold Steel!
the hatedest water bottles ever
"Hate Crime Sword" lord 😂

Awesome video, and your exactly right, if we like something, it’s legal to have, that’s all the need we need. We liked it, period.
I think the “handguard” is more wide to prevent your hand from over travel during stabs so your hand doesn’t go up to the blade.
Im buying 1 and it will be 100% a gardening tool😂 i need it to cut my fast growing chicken food. And it looks cool so ill go do it more and my chickens will get more greens.
Well damn it works very good. Cleared up friends creek in no time. Will take down small trees in 1 swipe.
Oh my bad, i got the thai machete from cold steel.
A proper sword for a hate crime would be a nodachi or a naginata you need the extra reach for it

Really liked your take! I've had one in my amazon basket for awhile but kinda feel wierd buying one... To hell with it! I'm doing it!
so what would be your top 3 Cold Steel Machete? I hesitate between this one and the royal Kukhri, mostly for home defence use or zombie apocalypse

Good advice. Stay safe out there.
Did you try some trick with it bro? 💀
That’s what she said
FANTASTIC VIDEO.
This was the one only semi real blade I’ve ever owned. Now I need something else

"Stay safe and keep you swords sharp"
I have one and the tip is bent too
ohh i do need that machete

Do you have cold steel cutlass machete?
I do 👀
@@underscorechalice9929haha late reply but which do you prefer? Also Merry Christmas
Great review!
I'm more into anti-hate crime items.
Them water bottles didn do nothn to u 😂
They tried killing him in the beginning bruh
Wait… did you say “YOUR SISTER” stabbed a tree and broken your sword!?!?!
Friggin country people scare the crap out of me….😮😮😮
thats not how you use the lanyard at all
How about looking at Marbles next? They have a sword style machete at around 20 $
Never stop👍
It's actually a short sword not a machete.
😲
